Everyone has 'em. Words that people say that make you cringe. There may not be any reason, or anything particularly unusual or offensive about the word, but something about it makes you cringe. What word(s) have that effect on you?

Strawman. Folks who use it think they sound intelligent, when it actually has the opposite effect.

Along similar lines, I'd have to say I hate the word "mouth-piece". Too much usage in the last few years, makes me think of a retainer.

Supposably.
I s'pose if it were a word I'd feel differently, but it's not so it annoys the hell out of me.

Yeah that one bugs me too. Along those lines, could you be more "pacific"?

I hate it when words are mispronounced, especially in the media. The very worst, and my pet peeve is when a jewelry store will have a radio ad in which the announcer says "joo-lery"...... IT'S JEWEL-RY MORONS !! It's what you sell, so at least get the damned word right !!
