I want to start by telling you something about my family. My wife and I both work. Not because we need to cure eight hours of boredom each day, but because we have bills to pay and obligations to our family. We have never taken welfare, food stamps, or unemployment benefits. We are citizens of the United States of America. We were born in this country, as were our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. I do not belong to a political party, but I vote in every election. My entire adult life has been spent in public service. I enlisted in the Navy just after high school. Not because I was too poor to go to college or too stupid to get a real job, but because I wanted to. For my grandfather who served in WWII, and my father who served in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy and a short time with a small company I went into law enforcement and have been here since. For the vast majority of my adult life I have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. I am long past being scared for my country. I am angry and disgusted.
For too long, the citizens of my country have sat back, believing that you are looking out for the best interests of the country while using the Constitution as guidance. A few weeks ago I heard someone ask the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi if she could point to the part of the Constitution that grants her the power to mandate healthcare to all Americans. She never answered. Instead she laughed and asked, "Are you serious?" Yes Speaker Pelosi, we are serious. This is not a joke and “We The People” are not laughing with you. She, like all of congress took an oath to support and defend the document that she dismisses as a joke. Have you forgotten whom you work for? Do you know who sent you to Washington and who can just as easily provide your final one-way ticket out? Those of you that no longer believe the Constitution applies in 2009 have a choice. You can immediately resign since you are no longer fulfilling the oath you took. If you don’t like the sound of that, the other choice you have is to plead your case to the American people and amend the Constitution. Neither choice is easy. It’s not supposed to be. If you can’t decide for yourselves, you leave no choice but for We The People to usher you to the unemployment line. At 17% total unemployment I’m sure you can find someone to show you where it is. We have all seen how good congress is with numbers so pick six people at random in a public place. Odds are one of them is struggling to find full time employment.
I, as with most Americans believe in the Constitution. When proposing a bill for law, the first question congress should ask is does the United States Constitution allow this law. If the answer is no, your first response is not to push it through before too many Americans notice. In case you need a reminder, most Americans can read too. We know how long it takes to read a 2000 page bill. If we didn’t have enough time to read it, we can expect that you didn’t even try. Putting this off on staffers and interns doesn’t fly. IT’S YOUR DUTY.
We The People are not stupid. The legislation you have tried to force down our throats for the past few years has nothing to do with helping We The People or encouraging and promoting a strong country. You wave a neon sign with one hand and hope we don’t pay attention to what the other hand is doing. Constitutionality doesn’t even seem to cross your mind. It’s about power and control. You steal the fruits of our labor. Taxing our blood, sweat and tears for an ever-increasing intrusion into as many aspects of our lives as you think you can get away with. We are told that paying taxes is patriotic. If, however, we question the manner in which you spend OUR money, we are unpatriotic, domestic terrorists, angry mobs, thugs, and Nazis. A Congress with a 20%+/- approval rating has made many of these comments.
My challenge to the United States Congress is simple. Every bill you vote on and every dime you spend, go home to your family. Look your children and grandchildren in the eyes and tell them you just mortgaged their future for a little more power. Tell them that you put a bounty on every penny they will ever earn because you needed to buy a vote. Tell them you had to ignore the United States Constitution today because this bill was just too important.
Pay attention to We The People. We are tired of your pet projects. We are disgusted with the back room deals and pay-offs for votes. Your circumvention of the Constitution will not be tolerated. If you can’t clean up your act then you leave We The People no choice. My family and friends have committed to voting, campaigning, and donating to ensure that you couldn’t even be voted in as town dogcatcher. We the People are tired. We are over-taxed. We are tired of being told that we don’t know what’s good for us. That Washington knows best. By politicians that can’t face their own voters. Cap and Trade, Health Reform, TARP, Stimulus, Recovery Packages………..ENOUGH!!!!!
After the attack on Pear Harbor on December 7, 1941, it is believed that Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto said, “I fear that all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with terrible resolve.” Just to be clear, We The People are awake and our resolve is building.
THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION WAS FOUGHT OVER MUCH LESS!!

I don't have to call my senator. My state doesn't put idiots into Washington.

I hope others are calling the senators and telling them NO on this joke of a bill.
not to late to crash the switchboard and fill their voicemails with our displeasure in this bill. It is awful.

… that is the nature of politics: poly, meaning more than one, and ticks, meaning blood-sucking parasites.
I for one have lost hope that any of these boobs will do anything responsible. They buy off just enough votes so the rest can vote no and save their necks. Did you hear that Louisana has a new $100 Million slush fund for their Medicaid program thanks to Hairy Reid. All it cost her was a yes vote.
I contacted botn of my Dem congresswomen (two idiots from WA) and told them I will go to jail before I will pay the government so they can suck the brains out of full term unborn fetuses.
