Default Looks like they lured enough votes folks.

Doesnt look good folks. Looks like the Anti-Abortion Dems have caved under the guise they can alter the bill later.

Sick to my stomach right now. Just sick. Our country is dying, at an accelerated pace. Im terrified for what my senior years will be like.

WASHINGTON — Capping months of months of struggle, House Democrats cleared an abortion-related impasse blocking a vote on sweeping health care legislation late Friday and officials expressed optimism they had finally lined up the support needed to pass President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority.

A vote was expected on the legislation on Saturday, after Obama’s scheduled midmorning trip to the Capitol complex to make one final pitch for its approval. The bill is designed to spread coverage to tens of millions who now lack it and ban insurance industry practices such as denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions.

Under the arrangement, Reps. Bart Stupak of Michigan, Brad Ellsworth of Indiana and other abortion opponents were promised an opportunity to insert tougher restrictions into the legislation during debate on the House floor.

The leadership’s hope is that no matter how that vote turns out, Democrats on both sides of the abortion divide will then unite to give the health care bill a majority over unanimous Republican opposition.

The plan emerged from hours of meetings presided over by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and involving lawmakers on both sides of the abortion issue and officials from the U.S. Conference on Catholic Bishops.

Separately, Pelosi and the leadership sought to ease concerns among Hispanic holdouts on the legislation.

A friend told me that until you hear that the bill is passed or defeated, you should still call and email your rep., even if it's Saturday and Sunday.

That's absolute BS voting yes on a bill they hope to alter later.

It doesn't always work out that way.

That is complete and utter BS and just ticks me off to no end if they pass this bill this way. Say good bye to the idiots who are following this line of thinking. Their districts will know what kind of cowards they are.

Ooooo this ain't gonna sit well with the folks. Folks might be willing to allow abortion, in some manner to some degree, exist, but federal funding has ALWAYS been off the table for most. Nope.... folks aint gonna like this. And the repubs should start saying now, we told you so.

We need government reform far more than we need healthcare reform.

How can there be a vote on anything when the legislation being voted on hasn't been post on line for 72 hours per Pelosi's promise only a few days ago?

I am confused.

Reform? Sure. Pelosi-care? No.

You do realize we are at 10.2% unemployment (real rate 17.5%) and this bill will effectively put insurers out of work thus adding to the unemployed rolls, and will have added bonus of increasing taxes during a very deep recession - and none of that mentions the $1.8 trillion cost to do so.

I am clueless as to how anyone can support this. Nobody will have read it, understood it, and yet some people support their Congress ignoring the Constitution in order to mandate we have this?

Its absurd from both an economical standpoint and practical common sense standpoint.

Then let him take the government option. Oh wait, they made sure they opted themselves out of their so fabulous plan.
