I have never been one to shy away from a camera job. This year, I was invited to film the Zombies For Obama at The village Halloween Parade, in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Being a person who admires the arts and creative expression, how could I miss a great chance to show my disdain for our “Dear Leader”… yes, the man himself, Barack Hussein Obama, with a theatrical parody! Being kind of outnumbered in a sea of liberals, my friends from the production and I weren't phased for for one instant. Besides, isn’t this supposed to be the tolerant Mecca of expression and views?
Reynolds Butler, the Producer and Director, along with our friend Paul Klenk, put together one heck of a performance with this crew, deserving of a Hollywood film. Except for the fact this was a theatrical parody, the horror is real and exists today in Washington D.C! I can only wonder how many of our liberal parade counterparts actually got the message? Most didn’t seem to mind the political nature of the theme, admiring the performance by the actors and actresses. Only a few had to show their real freak flag by spitting, and taunting; just who was that nut with the megaphone anyway???
As the Film Director and Videographer, I enjoyed pushing the envelop of creativity outside of the usual venues of politicians, tea parties, etc, to encompass a broader spectrum of the conservative movement. Judging by the nationwide roar of comments coming in, many across the country seem to view New York City as a lost cause of liberalism and progressivism. Yet, they were overwhelmingly pleased to see conservatives stand out in this mostly liberal parade. Many have now expressed a change in their negative views of New York.
In my heart, New York has always been the “Shining City” on a hill and will always be so for years to come. With proper decision making by prudent fiscally conservative leaders, I do believe our better days are ahead as a city and a nation. By reaching out to our friends and neighbors, we will get over this Obaminated stretch of bad choices as a nation, with New York leading the way… as always!
You can view the video at this link for a more complete analysis of the parody and my stand points.
