I've been talking to Commander DispensationalJim regarding the USS Trinity.

It required explaining the difference between this thread and the Trinity Thread. I didn't know whether to be touched by the idea that these two threads can be compared--or to laugh hysterically.

I brought to the table the idea of Dry Docking (as opposed to Decommissioning) the USS Trinity for a couple of months.

Poor little thing. And poor parents, too.

Hmm...The topic was originally the "Trinity" is it Biblical or not...earlier today there was a post made by a newcomer in there in regards to the Trinity...funny thing is though...it looked off topic and out of place, due to the current conversation.

Me, personally, I have no issue with the thread itself...the folks that participate the most in there have become comfortable discussing and debating with one another...just as we've become comfortable fellowshipping in here.

It would just be nice to be able to discuss the Trinity and things of that nature in another venue, since the topic at hand, within the Trinity thread, may not even be the Trinity today or next week.

Neither can I. Take good care of her for us.

I still deny being the "Commander" of the USS Trinity (especially if some want to sink it), but I take that "promotion" as a compliment, and hereby concede to the concept of Dry-docking our beloved Trinity thread at least temporarily.

I mentioned to Meri that we have a grand-daughter named Trinity, so we definitely don't want to think of sinking the Trinity in any way.

=================================

Now, since -- as best I recall -- this is my first time participating in this Gathering Place "all purpose" thread, I'd like to share a political thought I've had for a few days that I haven't seen anywhere else (maybe I just missed it). Here goes:

----------------------------------------------------------

WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL PRESIDENTS WHO HAVE BECOME FOREVER IDENTIFIED BY THEIR INITIALS:

FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVEL WAS AND IS REMEMBERED AS "F-D-R,"...

LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON WAS AND IS REMEMBERED AS "L-B-J," AND ...

JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY WAS AND IS REMEMBERED AS "J-F-K."

BUT THEN SOME FOLKS BEGAN CALLING OUR LAST PRESIDENT "W."

NOW WE HAVE PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, BUT WE WERE TOLD DURING HIS CAMPAIGN THAT WE SHOULD NOT USE HIS MIDDLE NAME OF HUSSEIN, SO MAYBE ...

BARACK - OBAMA MIGHT FOREVER BE KNOWN AS "B-O"!

--------------------------------------------------

I know... that joke stinks.

Good morning, Jim. Your joke is really bad--but it made me smile.

I know last night we were talking of "Dry Docking" the Trinity thread with a temporary lock, but this morning I was thinking the best Dry Dock procedure would be to have people voluntarily stop posting there, while creating new threads to post in.

Do you think that might be a better possibility over calling in Moderator assistance to supply an actual lock?

Yes. This was the conversation Jim and I were having last night: That more people might participate in side discussions going on in Trinity--if the discussion was made into its own thread. Otherwise, it becomes cumbersome to go into the Trinity thread and figure out there is a new discussion--and then to locate exactly where it started.

Also new threads on separate Trinity topics might encourage new people to also discuss the various aspects of Trinity in separate, more manageable threads.

What we are essentially proposing is dragging Trinity Thread regulars out of their thread so we can see more of them--and their ideas--in other threads.
