Default Trump laundered money for Haitian dictator Baby Doc Duvalier

Part of trumps long history of money laundering includes some dealings with former Haitian dictator Baby Doc Duvalier....

    https://www.rawstory.com/2018/01/hai...h-trump-tower/

Records show more than 1,300 Trump condos were purchased through shell companies, which allow buyers to shield their finances and identities, and without a mortgage, which protects buyers from lender inquiries.

Those two characteristics raise alarms about possible money laundering, according to statements issued in recent months by the Department of Treasury, which has investigated transactions just like those all over the country.

According to the Buzzfeed News report, the Haitian government complained in the 1980s that former dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier laundered money stolen from the Caribbean nation’s treasury by purchasing an apartment in Trump Tower.
Duvalier, nicknamed “Baby Doc,” was overthrown in 1986, but three years earlier used a Panamanian shell company called Lasa Trade and Finance to buy apartment 54-K in Trump’s Manhattan tower for $446,875 cash.
Trump, the future U.S. president, signed the deed of sale.

Insulting a country whose stolen money you helped launder isn't the best idea.... particularly when you're being investigated for...among other things...money laundering.

There is plenty of documentation that both the Haitian government and the United States government would have related to Duvalier's crimes... Trump's signature being on a deed of sale in a money laundering deal..particularly at this time for him.... doesn't look good for him..

I'm pretty sure a major news story about the Trump-Duvalier business dealings is in the works right now...

Nice false and misleading title to a thread. Haiti alleges that is what happened. No proof offered in the article however.

Even USA today found there is a lot of reason people use the shell companies to purchase property.

From security reason of a high profile individual, to tax reasons, to liability protection.

This article goes through 7 reasons people have done it in the past and will continue to do it in the future. Only 2 of them are questionable/illegal reasons.

If investigators want to look at Trump Deals with shell companies, then the investigators should look into ALL transactions by every shell company to any developer/real estate company back to -- well your op article goes back to 1983 or before -- whenever they want to start investigating Donald.

Plus one look at the front page and Id say it's the far left version of Gateway Pundit.

Not so sure about the OP, but 70% of Trump's property sales in 2017 were to shell companies. In the two years before his nomination, only 4% of sales were to LLCs. Profits from the sales go into a trust that Trump can withdraw cash from at any time, without disclosure.

I know exactly what it means. It means you need a butt load of quarters and Google Map directions to the nearest laundromat.

Look at all shell company real estate purchases? You know to find ALL those who may have assisted in money laundering. You know -- equal protections under the law (If they are going to investigate The Don Back that far, then EVERY shell company transaction no matter who it was with should be investigated).

It doesn't mean "sold an apartment to a shell company".

I have no idea what eventually comes out about President Trump. But if he doesn't have a thousand skeletons in his closet I'd be blown away. Con men don't go through life as saints.

How so. The article alludes to the US government being told in 1986. Should have been investigated then.

To start looking ONLY at transaction with The Don and shell companies *trying* to find a crime, while not looking at ALL shell company transactions *trying* to find a crime would be unconstitutional (equal protections).

How would it be unconstitutional, and please don't just say, "equal protections" again.

Going on a fishing expedition against ONE person when there could be evidence of many committing the same crime. And that's what it would be -- a fishing expedition to start an investigation on all shell company purchases of property owned by Donald Trump.

As such, he is not getting equal protection under the law if the "fishing expedition" doesn't include non-trump shell company transactions.
