    Good idea? Dumb?
So it looks like we withdrew because they banned Russia over doping? What the **** man. What the ****.

This public backing and defense of Russia is constant. It's inexplicable. It's not hard to sell the American people on bashing Russia for sport.

Default Trump Adminstration Considering Withdrawing U.S. Participation in the Olympics

According to many news sources (I saw it on BBC) Nikki Haley announced that the U.S. is considering withdrawing from the Winter Olympics.

As usual, the Trump administration is tone deaf on this topic choosing to float the idea the day after Russia was banned. Those headlines will write themselves.

    Good idea? Dumb?

It's the winter olympics, no-one normally gives a ****. And the Russians were caught red-handed.

**** like this legit makes me think Putin has something on Trump, because it makes zero sense otherwise.

At this point I can't believe it's real. Got to be some mixup.

Just more of the patent stupidity that I expect from this administration.

This would be a monumentally stupid idea, but based on the actual quotes from her that I read here, it isn't something actively being decided as far as not going, it sounds like there are just more security concerns to making it happen than normal.

I don't think the Trump administration would actually do this (or facilitate it somehow). No way.

    Well that'd be idiotic.
I love the Biathlon and all the Nordic ski events.
Also Lindsey Vonn. Little less so recently, but still.

The overriding issue is who is to be believed, and is it to be believed, the language they are using?

This administration is a crap shoot on policy, official or non official.

It is perfect...superiority determined by a special US and Russia Olympic games. Forget everyone else...and Olympic doping rules...our best steroid laced athletes vs Russia's best steroid laced athletes. Man I am all for it. Records will fall. Screw the rest of the world. US VS RUSSIA...IN GREECE. AWESOME!!!

I think Haley's comments around it relate to the international backlash against the decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem.

Pretty stupid, though. It'll easily be tied to the decision to ban the Russians and make the President look beholden to the Putin regime.

I love watching the Olympics. I hope to be cheering our athletes who have worked hard for years to qualify and compete.
