While I don't find "Mo Brooks" (whoever that is) argument very compelling, I should just like to bring out that this is one more thread where the title is selling something fake compared to what is presented.

I don't think he can legally be forced out, can he? My suggestion: Have the governor, other Senator, Congressmen from Alabama announce publicly that if Moore wins, they will request the Senate to expel him. And let him know that even if he isn't expelled he won't be welcome in the Senate and will be voted out after 2 years.
Surely he has some sense of what's gong on?

Fake news, never defended him, can't vote for him.

Yes, they can expel him. Just like they were going to expel Robert Packwood back in 1995 over allegations he sexually harrassed, abused and assualted women, he resigned first though.

    from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Pa...to_resignation

With pressure mounting against him, Packwood announced his resignation from the Senate on September 7, 1995, in which he stated that he was "aware of the dishonor that has befallen me in the last three years" and "his duty to resign". following the Senate Ethics Committee unanimous recommendation that he be expelled from the Senate for ethical misconduct.[36] Democratic Congressman Ron Wyden won the seat in a special election.

No. I was responding to "forced out of the race", not whether they could expel him. Of course they can.

Don't Alabama voters have the consequence of nominating this man to begin with? If they are being punished, then it is by their own volition in their choice during the primary.

I know it is convenient, but you do know Bill Clinton has not sought office in well over 20 years, right? There are a lot of posters here who were not even able to vote when he last ran for office. Use more recent examples, if you want it to have some broad-brushing merit.

So they are to blame for something they weren';t aware of or are you saying they knew it at the time they nominated him, because I could have sworn the story broke afterwards.

I'm saying that elections have consequences. I know, cliche.

But in all seriousness, yes, they are to blame for their decision to nominate this man. The fact the story became nationally known after the fact is irrelevant. AL voters should mount a serious write-in campaign and elect someone to represent their values....without relying on voting in someone as disgusting as this man, and then praying that Mitch McConnell and company do the right thing after the fact.

Do you have a link that validates the charges here, that Jones "thinks it is cool to kill full term unborn babies." I had not heard a quote from him suggesting as much.

Modern American conservatism everybody. Who cares if he's a pedo, at least he's not a lib.

Good luck with salvaging that party, and any semblance of respectability evangelicals might have once had.
If I were in Alabama, I would vote for Moore but not for the reasons Mo states.

I'm absolutely sickened by Moore. I never cared for him to begin with. I believe his accusers and wish he would drop out.

Having said that, I will vote for the Moore ticket regardless of whether he drops out or not. Jones cannot be allowed to pickup the senate seat.

In my opinion, the best case scenario would be for Moore to drop out, yet still get the most votes. The election could then be declared null and void, allowing for a do over.

The obvious conclusion is that child-rape serves conservative ends. Or worse, is a component of conservative worldviews.
