Default The Storm Before The Storm

From the "Storm Before The Storm" web site:

"In 146 BC, Rome finally emerged as the strongest power in the Mediterranean. But the very success of the Republic proved to be its undoing. The republican system was unable to cope with the vast empire Rome now ruled. Rising economic inequality disrupted traditional ways of life. Endemic social and ethnic prejudice led to clashes over citizenship and voting rights. Rampant corruption and ruthless ambition among the elite sparked violent political clashes that cracked the once indestructible foundations of the Republic."

I was tempted to post this book recommendation in the Politics section because of how frighteningly it parallels today's events. The book comes out on 10/24/2017.

If you don't know who Mike Duncan is go to your favorite source for podcasts and look into "The History Of Rome" and "Revolutions". Both are amazingly detailed and listenable narratives.

Of particular interest to folks here might be the part of Revolutions that deals with the American Revolution. It's some 16 episodes, each about 20 minutes or so. A good listen on your commute to work.
