Default Canada funds Europe-based missile defence program but won't join one at home

No problem, America will just protect us, while we steal your jobs, spread hatred propaganda against you and covertly enter your corporations on Canadian soil (while tampering with the HR department).

    This is not right.

    Harper limited Canada's role

When the former Conservative government signalled its intention to participate in the NATO program in 2010, the idea was to protect alliance troops and installations, but it has been expanded in the years since to defend the entire European continent.
And it was former prime minister Stephen Harper who insisted at the 2010 NATO leaders summit in Lisbon that clauses be added limiting the scope of the program to Europe, says Richard Cohen, who served as an adviser to former defence minister Peter MacKay.

"I never figured out why he put that language in," Cohen told CBC News. "I could not understand the government's aversion to this. Of course, it's tied to the reluctance of all governments to go into North American [ballistic missile defence]."
He said he doesn't believe Canada's military leadership is keen on any form of a missile shield because it takes money out of the budget for equipment.
"It's only there to defend us if we happen to be on European territory," said Cohen.
"We're contributing all right, but we're not getting a lot back."

And he seems to think that folks on this board (some do, such as the other Canadians like myself, but very much in a tiny minority) give a rats ass about anything that happens in Canada.

    Yet he won't move.

He reminds me of the woman the Republicans used during the health care debate to scare people away from single payer. Who went to the US to because she did not want to wait her turn. Lied about having a terminal condition and then after lying and bad mouthing the system wanted the Canadian government to pay for her surgery.

I don't get it, of course Canada is under our nuclear umbrella and has been since the beginning of the Cold War. What is the shortest distance between Russia and America? Over the Arctic Circle.

Um no, the security apparatus in my country hates me, and furthermore they hate America, free markets, liberty and many basic principles which Americans treasure and hold dear.

An announcement is being made this afternoon on NAFTA, let's see if America is going to straighten out the exploitation they have experienced at the hands of Canada. I know I've done a hell of a lot of communicating to this administration the details of what Canada is doing. It's cost me a great deal, but at least it will allow me a place in heaven one day.

The RCMP and their surrogates are the enemy of America. Understand this well and take measures to protect your businesses from the Canadian apparatus.

So you expect your government to fund a missle defense program to protect another country?

I appreciate that and all (and the commitment/funding to NATO in general), but Canada is not the target in NA......

Anyway, kind of clear that there is a 95% chance you are some gimmick account with all that other GOP-leaning canada hating gibberish thrown in.

What the hell do you think funding for such a protection is doing in Europe? Protecting Canada?

I stated before, I don't hate Canada, the security apparatus hates me. This, because I went to the Canadian authorities first to seek remedy for their abuses, and after being threatened and had my career interfered with, I was forced to express the facts to those impacted; specifically American companies being interfered with and facing direct competition from the Canadian government.

If you've never lived under socialism, worse, socialism under the guise of a constitutional monarchy (how's that for an oxymoron); than you wouldn't appreciate the difference between a free and accountable nation like America, and a caste system like Canada.

Canada doesn't want American bases or military stationed on their soil period.

I think they are showing commitment to NATO on a issue that is not central to their defense, but part of the common good of all the members. Regardless I find it odd that you are so concerned with it as a Canadian, not the politics so much... essentially I think you are a liar.

And throwing out "caste system" only is a disservice to counties like India that actually struggle with them culturally.

we use to have nuclear weapon stationed in Canada during the cold war it wasn't popular so government said they wouldn't allow foreign government to station troops/weapon in the country again.

I fully support Canada expanding their own military to create a missile defense system though that can be linked with U.S via NORAD.

Yes, a caste system as brought to India from the British and perfected. Sound familiar? How about this. I pull out some cash and I see the Queen on my currency:

My theory is that the only reason Canada has even a glimmer of capitalism is because of it's proximity to America, it was basically forced to have some element of capitalism and liberty. We are a distant shadow of the American system, this is why we have to use taxpayer funds to pay for American corporations to stay in Canada, a bad decision as it will be expected by every company now. Recall of course, we assisted the British in the fight against America and had many loyal, lapdogs trade their character for a plot of land in Canada (cowards).

I care little if you believe me or not, I speak the truth and I'm well informed on the Canadian system in ways I shouldn't be. Thankfully, America and other countries have a much clearer understanding of Canada now, I know I did my part to educate.
