Default McConnell forced to delay healthcare vote because of McCain's healthcare.

With Republican Sen. John McCain ordered to rest for one week following surgery for a blood clot, the vote on the new version of the health care bill won't occur until he returns, two congressional aides told CNN on Saturday night.

Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tweeted that the Senate will work on other legislative issues and nominations, and "will defer consideration of the Better Care Act" while McCain is recovering.

With 2 Republican hard no's and a handful of undecideds... I'm not sure this will pass... I know Murkowski got a whole bunch of money just for my state so she is probably leaning to a "yes" now.

Not sure about the other holdouts.

I thought we were getting a brilliant dealmaker in the White House. Why can't he help the GOP, his party, pass their own bill?

Hey...let's not go overboard, here. I haven't heard a sincere "thank you" from a Republican Politician, yet.

60 votes. Much higher than the 50 they are hoping to get this time around.

Obama must have been a great deal maker. Way better than Trump... So I guess the best ever.

If the GOP health care bill depends on one 81 year-old man not getting sick -- maybe, just maybe the bill sucks.

Nonsense. Republicans simply saw that the ACA was a HUGE new entitlement that could not and would not be paid for, and thus would not ultimately work, which had in it provisions that directly and negatively impacted hiring and jobs, as well. To this day MILLIONS of people who were supposed to join have not and never will - because it stinks for them.

It was and remains a liberal wet dream of government overreach.

Don't try to cast Republican opposition to it as simply anti-Obama. It stands for and represents things Republicans have NEVER been for.

What does that have to do with the telling statement that this healthcare bill must be rotten if it hangs on one vote? I'm telling you that SAME was true for Obamacare, so by that standard, it must be rotten, too.

    Right?

You can't because the Dems want to simply protect Obamacare as a legacy for Obama, despite its painfully obvious failure.

For them, it opens the door to socialized medicine and they will not retreat from that. Each entitlement given is a stem towards their dream of total federal control.

They are completely unwilling to work on anything else. So, it is going to have to be divided votes, down party lines.

The Republicans are the ones protecting Obamacare. They've gone out of their way, and back on their promises to protect it. A straight up repeal Bill couldn't get a majority in either Republican lead Chamber. I'd call that protecting.

As for Democrat help, I saw a Democrat on FOX this week (can't remember if he was a Rep or a Senator) who gave a list of things they will work with Republicans on and a couple of them were things Republican agree with. According to him, leadership wasn't interested. Besides, even if Republicans did want to work with Democrats on this, they can't - the hardcore faction of the base would be furious.
    All together now!

The whole thing might be moot if tomorrow the CBO score comes out showing this bill is dog ****. Republicans are looking at the polls and continue their desperate attempt to put a bill on the Presidents desk. As big a political mistake as when the Democrats passed Obamacare.
