Default Young people don't like your religion.

    http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/teen...gions-decline/

    the bigger part of this:
In one of the largest studies ever conducted on Americans’ religious involvement, researchers from Case Western Reserve University and the University of Georgia collaborated with Twenge and her colleagues in California to analyze data from four national surveys of U.S. adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18. The surveys were taken between 1966 and 2014, and include responses from some 11.2 million people.
thats big sample, but it gets better:
According to Twenge and her cohorts, today’s adolescents view religion as less important, report less “approval” of religious organizations, and spend less time on prayer than did their similarly-aged predecessors. Some 75 percent of American 12th graders, the paper finds, believe that religion is “not important at all” in their lives.
hopefully this trend continues into the future and as the older people kick the bucket we see how culture move more towards more secular nation. What a bad week for the conservatives in polling.

now bring on the whining about how the moral fabric of our nation is decaying old people!
The beauty that is the ugliness of the right. " They demand accountability for anger and divisiveness, while holding themselves entirely unaccountable for their anger and divisiveness"

That is good news. Teens apparently have more sense than their parents, who continue to pray to their sky god. I was surprised to see the number as high as 75% of new voters believing that religion is "not important at all", but that should lead to a massive crotch-kick to the social conservatives in the next few election cycles.

    I have been a non-theist for years.

    This is fully expected.

In my opinion, the god story is the greatest myth ever told.

One less things for politicians to pander to.

Maybe one day, we won't be talking about religion in a political forum at all because one's faith will be considered a deeply personal thing and separate from politics altogether.

Just trying to figure out why liberals would be applauding the reduction of the most charitable American demographic, I thought they were big fans of helping the poor.

I only wish I was that way at age 13 to 18. I would have likely gone into science, given so much more room curiosity. I was highly religious until college.
No one is asking you to apologize for your ancestors. We're asking you to dismantle the system they created, that you maintain and benefit from.

Absurd, politics is inescapably entwined with morality, whatever your moral system happens to be, religious people should no more leave their moral and spiritual beliefs out of politics then atheists.

Only a liberal would think that the removal of a moral compass is a good thing.

I hope your child doesn't suffer from your delight, OP.

Science and religion are not mutually exclusive, you might want to read up on the history of science.

I am starting to wonder if it is time for a respite. That thought convicts me, but I am starting to feel that churches should worship inside their churches, and keep their charity for those inside the church, and let liberals have at it outside the doors.

I have a science degree, and I'm Christian. Your point is meaningless.

That's a joke. For many of you, your politics IS your faith. Faith is the ONLY way to explain your belief in some things.

    This quote is so true:

Yeah well, good thing I never suggested leaving your morals out of politics, I guess..
