Default Forum Rules: Questions and Answers

A new and improved Great American Guide has been posted! Please take some time to review the new rules. You will see that the civility rules have relaxed a bit. This is by no means an invitation to turn this place into a flame fest. That being said, we hope with the relaxed rules, we will see more spirited, lively debate.

Take special notice of the new Reporting System and levels of Infraction. We will begin utilizing the new system immediately.

If you have any questions about the Rules, please feel free to ask them here.

There is to be no peanuts or off-topic posting in this thread.

I notice that there is a severe increase in penalty for second and third offenses indicating a crack down on problem children.

Does that mean that trolls and previous intense trouble makers are still getting amnesty to return?

We have not quite finalized our decision on amnesty.

If the penalties seem severe, keep in mind that we have relaxed the rules that would lead to a penalty in the first place.

IMG size violations. Would this be considered abuse of the forum or simply mod delete or just case by case?

Case by case. If one sees a possible image or image size violation, report it, and we will take the proper action.

You need to be more specific with your question, Drawz. There are several examples listed under the "Abuse of Forum" section.

Oops, nevermind. When I was looking at it on my phone I just saw that heading in the penalty section, missed it in the description section.

Will the forum be alerted in some way that a member has been banned?

We will not be making threads announcing that. If a member is banned, said member will have "banned" in the user title. If a member is on a timeout, said member will have "timeout" in the user title. That way members won't have to wonder what the status is. They can see for themselves.

We believe that mod discipline is between the staff and the person(s) in question.

My concern about transparency had nothing to do with wanting to enjoy the circus. I resent the implication that that is what my concern is.

Knowing the perceived problems by the mod staff, which result in the banning of membership, helps other users to know what is acceptable and what isn't.

By circus, I was referring to the process. In context, my comment was not of a personal nature towards you or about you.

If someone gets in trouble, that person will know very quickly why there is a problem, and what not to do in the future.

All the mods will be aware of any reports, as well as any action taken.

If Suzie gets in trouble by a mod, (whether it was reported or not) what's important, is Suzie understanding why she got in trouble, as well as the reason for the action taken by the moderator. As long as Suzie understands those salient points and refrains from continual violations, that is all that truly matters.

Like I said, if something arises of a serious nature, whereby we mods believe it is important for everyone to know, we will speak up.

We believe how we are going to handle things moving forward in this regard, is better for the forum and the membership. We won't be reverting back to posting threads about who got in trouble and why.

Edited to add: This is not a debate thread.

This is a question and answer thread. If you want to post feedback, there is a thread in this forum for doing just that.
