That might explain why we've had more state wildlife officers out this week. Usually the hunting regs (seasons start/stop, tags, and all that) are set by, and enforced by the state

They work very well, you will not be disappointed. They operate off a small butane cartridge that heats a small pad that has repellant on it. Give off no detectable odor at all. You should be able to find them in any sporting/hunting store as well as Walmart etc.

In our area I would venture to guess that 75% of hunters own one and use them during early bow season

The regular deer season in PA is December 2-14. Average morning low is in the mid to upper 20's, so insects are fortunately not a problem.

I've heard that stone crabs are the best.
The only ones I've had were so over-cooked I couldn't tell the difference between them and other species.

Any of you hunters run into John "is this where I can get me a hunting license" Kerry?

I am nursing a bunch of bug bites, but I worry about the smell.

I have never used one (I am a believer in DEET,) but their advertising says that there is no smell.

Trust me PH there is no noticeable smell. No one around here will go into the woods during early season without it , especially if your hunting the river swamps. I have been in a 15' ladder stand with it burning and stuck a deer at 25'. Have on many occasions had them walking all around my tree while Iam at 15-20 feet up with the thermacell going

I think I would go through withdrawals with a short season. Here deer season is open from Oct 1 - end of Jan. Even with those long seasons we are still over populated.
