What will be the GOP national embarrasment in 2013?
For as long as I can remember, the GOP does nothing but embarrass itself and make our nation look bad all the time. But each year there is usually something they do that rises above all the other crap they do. Since 2000, here is what they have done to appall me and others:
2000 - Unconstitutionally twisted the arms of Katherine Harris and the Supreme Court and rigged the Presidential Election, disenfranchising millions of voters nationwide
2001 - Exploited a national tragedy(9/11) for their own political gain and used anyone who questioned 9/11 or the administration's response to it as unpatriotic and un-American. To this day we still have unanswered questions.
2002 - Turned a memorial service for fallen Senator Paul Wellstone into a way to attack democrats who showed passion and love for the man at his memorial service right before the mid terms. This character destruction ended up allowing the GOP to steal a senate seat in Minnesota(which thankfully Al Franken got back in 2008).
2003 - George W. Bush took us into a war no one wanted to go into, which resulted in the deaths of innocent U.S. soldiers and thousands of innocent lives in the Middle East. All so we could get cheaper oil and so Bush could settle a family matter on the backs of our own servicemen.
2004 - Voter suppression, led on full charge by the GOP, in Ohio allows George Bush to steal another presidential term. Once again the GOP has to resort to shady tactics to win an election.
2005 - George W. Bush does NOTHING to help Hurricane Katrina victims, which results in the deaths of many. The GOP did nothing to improve their tension with minorities, and in fact probably made their hatred for minorities worse. Compare and contrast this with Obama's Sandy response, it is a shame Bush did not get impeached.
2006 - GOP politicians around the country exposed for the slime they are, such as Mark Foley. Thankfully, the country had had enough and threw these bums out of office.
2007 - GOP strikes down comprehensive immigration reform, solidifying the fact that once again the GOP hates anyone who isn't white. Instead of giving citizenship to millions of hardworking people, the GOP instead chooses to keep turning them into lawbreaking criminals.
2008 - 2008 was a banner year for GOP embarrasment. To start, the GOP's house of cards fiscal policy that protected the rich on the backs of the rest of Americans finally caved in and resulted in a big stock market crash and spike in unemployment. The GOP actually had the nerve to blame it on democrats and Bill Clinton/Jimmy Carter, when they know damn well it was their protect the rich/corporations schemes that caused it. Another embarrasment was how the GOP went all out racist and bigotry in an attempt to stop the election of Barack Obama, but failed. Lastly, the GOP brought Sarah Palin into the national political scene, who to this day is still the biggest idiot to ever be mentioned in national politics.
2009 - GOP colludes with rich business, corporations and insurance companies to astroturf opposition to health care reform. The GOP went all out with lies, mistruths, and character destruction to drum up public opposition to health care reform. Once again, the GOP shows they don't care about those who do not have the means to provide themselves with health coverage.
2010 - Despite health care reform passing, the GOP and tea party hurl racist insults and spit on black democratic congressmen on their way to the vote, re-enforcing the fact that the tea party is driven by hatred of a black man in office. Arizona passing that racist legislation that treated anyone who might look hispanic like pond scum. And the GOP using lies and slander to take back the house in the midterms.
2011 - Crazy right wing nut Jared Loughner starts the year by trying to assassinate a democratic congresswoman, as the hate and filth the GOP spews finally ended up costing lives. Sarah Palin's crosshair map showed that violent rhetoric can cost lives. Scott Walker in Wisconsin denying the rights of millions of workers with a corporate/pro-rich power grab. And the GOP held the nation hostage with the debt ceiling.
2012 - Far right extremist GOP led by Mitt Romney attempts to use racism to defeat Obama, and also tries to exploit the deaths of Americans in Libya for their own political gain. Despite there being numerous mass shootings across the nation, the GOP only stands even firmer with the NRA and other gun nuts, instead of trying to get legislation passed to protect our innocent civilians.
How will the GOP embarrass itself in 2013?

Well, I see you have taken care of the liberal embarassment all by yourself! Any liberal agreeing with you should be embarasssed.

Your list was pretty heavily slanted to the left for any genuine discussion. Mitt Romney isn't a hard core right winger. Heck he could have ran as a Democrat. George Bush did quite a bit to help the victims of Katrina. I know because my Illinois National Guard unit was mobilized and deployed along with many other states.
I sincerely hope the Democrats don't think they have crushed the GOP. The more the Democrats swing to the left then the more power they will give to the Republicans. I say that as a liberal."Inside every cynical person there is a disappointed idealist." George Carlin
