As I watched the reports on this I sensed a little desperation, maybe it's just me. Grasping at straws so to speak.

What reports? The ones that accurately portray the entire speech as race baiting? You know, the part where he implies that because it was mostly black communities affected no one moved as fast as they would have if it had been white communities.

Yeah, it's one of those quotes that is easy to hear and think "what in holy hell is that guy trying to say". In this instance, context makes a pretty big difference.

Context frequently makes a huge difference especially with our language since so many words can have different meanings depending on context.

This is just another example of the level of dishonesty the Obama haters will stoop to just to get others against him.

They play a snippet and (rightfully) count on the lazy Obamaphobes to take whatever at face value---doing no research of their own to find out the context of what was actually said.

Remember the whole "National Civilian Security Force"? That was about a multifaceted approach to bettering this country domestically through increased volunteerism---and abroad through establishing better relations with the civilians in countries we're occupying.

The talkradio/Limbaugh clones exchanged the word "security" with "police", and next thing you know, we're hearing about Obama's "National Civilian Police Force" coming to kick in your door, take your guns, etc. etc.

This was the result of a combination of laziness and intellectual dishonesty, all to scare the Obamaphobes even more. And of course it works, because they're all content hearing a misleading 17 seconds of a 27 minute speech, so the context is obliterated.

This all says more about Obama's critics than it does him.

Actually you need to turn that criticism on yourself.

Listen to what he said about the Stafford Act and get back to us.

His whole speech is stupid.

He's complaining that people are slow to rebuild black dominated areas and how racist that is, and uses the LA Riots as the result of some kind of evil white man plot?

All those riots proved was how savage and uncivilized the residents were. Katrina showed us scores of locals looting.

When people poop where they eat, don't even have the human decency to respect their own community and belongings, then I don't personally care to invest any amount of money to rebuild, and "take the bullet out".

But, let's blame the white man, since it's a lot easier than admitting the truth.
