For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

The last time we were in Panama City was during the middle of the oil spill debacle. I guess because of that it wasn't very crowded but you are right about the tourist trap being a new level there. Navarre Beach is a nice place to escape all that I heard but I've never been there.
For those into nightlife, shopping, and stuff like that Panama City Beach still blows the others away with Pier Park.Last edited by jwil59; March 29th, 2012 at 5:17 pm.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Pensacola, Destin, Orange Beach, or Gulf Shores that isn't all that pricy? I don't care if it is a motel/hotel or condo but price will be an issue for us this year.
It looks like we will be heading down late April or early June. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

I usually use VRBO (am on their e-mail list) but I don't see that much they have available that is beachfront in Destin. I want to be facing the beach with a balcony. Another problem for me with VRBO is I really don't like the high rise buildings cause it is a problem to get all our beach gear on an elevator and we make frequent trips to the beach and back every day.

I agree about the high rises. I do high rise at Virginia Beach but I travel light to the beach and often leave any gear I want in my auto at the ground level.
I am not well versed in all the properties on those beaches but I also use Google Earth as a travel tool. It also allows you to see hotels and motels and other properties and if street level is available to look at them to get a feel. I think check out pricing etc.. when I see something that fills my needs or desires.

The beaches in Alabama through the Florida panhandle are all that beautiful white sand. It's beautiful down there and the fishing from Destin/Ft. Walton is about as good as anywhere.
My absolute best fishing I have ever done down there though was out of Cedar Key, which is further south. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

No problem. I must give credit to my husband for that "car plan". He can be so smart sometimes.
We started it when the kids were little and had all their beach toys and inflatables. They would be all sandy and what not he said, "Let's leave them in the back of the truck, van or car trunk" we were in at the time. No need to lug them and the sand back up to the room when we were not going to be needing sandy pails and shovels in the room on the 10th floor.
