Even with a better presentation, the premise of conservatives being parasites breaks down pretty quickly under critical analysis.
My idea was to present it to you, let you ridicule it, then show you what you learned.
Would not your criticisms be equally appropriate if the political roles were reversed?
It is probably time to move the thread into its second stage:
Though not touched on in the OP, the only thing separating us from being a 3rd world nation is that our lowest classes have some money and a social safety net.
Considering them parasites and attempting to socially engineer them away from the economic and political process is just as detrimental to you as it is to them."Better to write for yourself and have no public than to write for the public and have no self" Cyril Connelly

The US military is about 20% of the federal budget. Southern states are retirement havens.
Take out military bases (predominantly red states) and social security retirement (a lot of transplants down here) and recalculate and i bet you get a different conclusion.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

The chart shows statistics can be selectively used to show desired results.
- States and the many parts of each state are not republican or democrat just based on the senators. A state’s population does not always have federal senators or representatives from the same parties as most of the people in the states or various gerrymander districts. States with major population cities or areas skew the states entire population.
- The chart says benefits received from governments for every dollar paid in federal taxes. The chart does not list all “benefits”. It says the benefits include some things.
— The chart does not say which is federal “benefit” vs other government “benefit”.
— The chart does not specify the type of federal tax it includes. Business pay taxes as well as individuals.
- The chart does not list all the federal welfare sent to all the entities in the various states. In addition to individuals, there are corporate and state agencies that receive federal dollars.
EDIT addition:
the chart does not show the GDP of the varous states.Last edited by donesprague; March 1st, 2012 at 10:22 pm.

As I previously stated, if you truly believe the premise of this OP, throw us out.
We won't argue. Promise.one O to rule them all, one O to find them,
one O to bring them all, and IN THE DARKNESS BIND THEM

Separating red and blue states... Why wasn't this done years ago?

Leaving the third paragraph out changes the meaning of the first two, and there isn't much other reason to snip an already brief post.
As far as my tone, you possibly haven't read my other posts in this thread.
All I ask at this point is that you edit your post, restoring my original meaning."Better to write for yourself and have no public than to write for the public and have no self" Cyril Connelly

Every single man woman and child would have to pay $1100 a year just to cover the costs for the 4 branches of the federal military in Alabama. That doesnt include the hundreds of millions spent at the Redstone Test Center or NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
It totally destroys this ignorant talking point.

You might have some valid observations except for my other postings in this thread. As you will see in my posts, I acknowledged criticisms throughout, tho not every repetition, and intended all along for my OP and thread to be an analogy. My guess is that you only read my first post and the one to which you responded.
This, for instance, was my 2nd post:
"Of course not. But, for better or for worse, my impression of real conservatives does come from the daily reality show known as the Hannity Forum.
And though I generally disagree with them, I am impressed with the sincerity of their beliefs, and their ability to express them."
This from my 4th post:
"Don't take my thread literally. I know the solution I pose is not realistic."
This from my 5th post:
"The broadest generalization will not be exactly correct in every specific instance.
But doesn't that, in itself, also prove the conservative generalization of producers and parasites wrong?"
And my 3rd post explains the reason behind my user name, and I should add it is taken from Bill O'Reilly's regular Talking Point segment.Last edited by TalkingPointer; March 2nd, 2012 at 11:29 am. Reason: Punctuation

I am OK with the split, but I insist that there be free immigration between the two blocs. That way all the welfare bums can end up in the blue states where they are coddled. Without the Fed interference, those of us in the red states can really crack down on the free riders. Let THAT go on for a year or two, and see which bloc is more successful.

Wait... You're really defending the Confederacy? You're proud of that?
I have two ancestors who fought in the Confederate Army and I'm proud of their service for THEIR country. But I absolutely despise the Confederate government that seceded from the Union and started a war that got 600,000 Americans killed on both sides."As I am now, I consider myself nothing more than a vessel. A vessel for the hopes of those abandoned in space, and for the ideals of Zeon that will light all our paths to freedom."
