It has only been until recently that I decided that politics is something that interests me, so I'm a little flaky on my history. Having said that, I continually hear Rush and Hannity claiming that Reagan cut the deficit in half, lowered the top marginal rates, cut taxes on the wealthy, and the economy prospered...however upon looking at the data, the deficit balooned under his administration and he raised taxes on the middle class. What do they know that I don't? (FTW, I'm a hardcore conservative)

I am not really worried about this healthcare bill. I have been watching the Republican Senators on C-Span in Primetime, and they make some arguments, but don't really seemed concerned to the level I thought they would. For example, Barasso says that he would have put incentives to people to stop smoking or lose weight. I guess we really can afford it and the trillions of dollars in debt and the trillions more this bill would cost is really not that big of a deal. Senator Enzi, nice guy, good points, but either this is a constitutional crisis, or it isn't. If we are about to go bankrupt, then I don't see the urgency or passion.

Personally, if we were really on a precipice, then maybe it is time to be a bit more drastic, less calm and more ****ed off. Oh, I don't know..... maybe pick up Reid's chair and desk, take it to the top of the capitol, and throw it off the side of the building. How about put "sold to China" or "bankrupt" on everything in the capitol until it adds up to a trillion? I got more, but maybe someone would want to throw an idea out there. Senator Enzi is putting me to sleep.

Back in the early days of this country, you voted for Pres. separate from VP and could end up with a President and VP from different political parties.

It would definitely bring more balance to government, IMO.

Anyone else feel like this?

It's a conversation with Carl Sagan, Arthur C Clarke, and Stephen Hawking about everything from the Universe, God, Black Holes, the possibility of life on other planets, education, and much more

It's pretty amazing to hear these 3 men discuss these subjects, thought i might share - some great stuff .

Check it out - in 6 Parts
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...0469976BD5692A

P.S.
I really love how dated this feels, they are absolutely amazed by the Mandelbrot set of fractal images which Arthur C Clarke runs on this ancient computer at ridiculously slow speeds, and which i can now run in real-time on my iphone - lolz :)
He mentions a single render taking 22 hours - ouch
