I have been assured over the years since 9-11 that a fire could NOT bring down a building. It wouldn't burn hot enough, it wouldn't melt the steel, and all that other fun stuff.
In an interview with NBC affiliate WXIA, Cochran credited state troopers with saving lives by managing to stop all of the traffic in the 40 minutes before the bridge collapsed.
Now granted the bridge's steel (if like in Utah) are exposed and not coated in fire proof material, but come on . . . if a fire under a bridge can compromise it to the point of collapsing . . . well you get the point.
Na, Georgia officials, or federal officials must have had explosives on the bridge for months before this just to bring it down
