Getting a good deal of people writing songs for candidates on the myspace page. I figured it would be nice to start a thread for anybody that wants to display there talent. I am not going to limit this thread to just songs about candidates, maybe you have a song or poem you wrote about this great country of ours that you would like to share. Before you post a link you need to make sure that your song fits within the tos and that the site or page you are hosting it from do not have any inapropriet material. That said, I hope this becomes a thread we can all enjoy and people have a chance to showcase there talent.

ISY Mode - Obama Wrong (borrowed from Depeche Mode - Wrong (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bsXOcK9_Cw). :shifty:)

I was born in the wrong country
In the wrong time
With the wrong ascendancy
I'm taking the wrong road
That lead to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For a change reason and a hopeful rhyme
In the wrong direction and the wrong speed
I'm using the wrong method with the wrong technique

Wrong

Wrong

There's something wrong with me chemically
Something wrong with me inherently
The wrong mix in the wrong genes
I'm seeking the wrong ends by the wrong means
It is the wrong plan
In the wrong hands
The wrong theory for the wrong man
The wrong eyes on the wrong prize
The wrong questions with the wrong replies

Wrong

Wrong

I'm marching to the wrong drum
With the wrong scum
****ing out the wrong energy
Using all the wrong lines
And the wrong signs
With the wrong intensity
I'm on the wrong page of the wrong book
With the wrong rendition of the wrong look
With the wrong moon, every wrong night
With the wrong tune playing till it sounded even more wrong yeah

Wrong

Wrong
(Too long)
Wrong
(Too long)

I was born in the wrong country
In the wrong time
With the wrong ascendancy
I'm taking the wrong road
That lead to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the change reason and the hopeful rhyme
In the wrong direction and the wrong speed
I used the wrong method with the wrong technique

Wrong

Go ahead, pile on.

This one is my one political/social commentary song:

I'm Doin' The Best That I Can (9/86)

Well I'm lying on the street with a grating by my feet
I'm ragged and torn, trying to keep warm, and I'm dying in the heat

Chorus:
But I'm doin' the best that I can, I'm doin' the best that I can
You can turn me away, though I wish you would stay, 'cause I need a helping hand
I'm doin' the best that I can

It hasn't rained for seven years, and it's dried up all my tears
My children are hungry and my husband is lame and I've nothing left to fear

Chorus

Now I've lost my only son and the wars have just begun
There used to be people laughing in the street, but now it’s land that must be won

Chorus

And now I'm forty million souls, though I never can be whole
Never a chance to join in the dance or be counted on the rolls

Chorus

And in my own suburban life, I love my kids, I love my wife
but soon I must choose, whether win or lose, to witness for the Light

Chorus

Yes, we're doin' the best that we can
You can turn us away, though we wish you would stay,
'cause we need your helping hand. We're doin' the best that we can.

A few years back when the banishment of the creche from public places was a big story, I wrote lyrics to "Away With the Manger", to be sung to "Away in the Manger". Don't have them handy.

This is not political in the least, but hey, it's mine and I like it;

Weaving stories, like baskets of straw

Mythical beasts, and crows that go caw

Legends of love, and pain and desire

Fables for children, tales by the fire

Knights in shined armor save damsels distressed

With legions of stories by God we are blessed

Aesop and Twain, Shakespeare and more

Steal from the rich and give to the poor

Fiction or fact, folktale or truth

Flight of fancy of a daydreaming youth

Just an old wive's tale, or cute anecdote

Adventure and drama, the rhymes of a poet

Reminiscences, romance, biographies, plays

Diaries, letters, and the good old days

Yes we're all yarners with tales to debate

Just accounts of our lives, we love to narrate
