THE NAIL

As the story goes, they built a new church building and people came
from far and wide to see it. They admired its beauty! Up on the roof,
a little nail heard the people praising everything about the lovely
structure-except the nail! No one even knew he was there, and he
became angry and jealous.

"If I am that insignificant, nobody will miss me if I quit!" So the
nail released its hold, slid down the roof, and fell in the mud.

That night it rained and rained, and the wind blew hard! Soon, the
shingle that had no nail blew away, and the roof began to leak. The
water streaked the walls and the beautiful murals. The plaster began
to fall, the carpet was stained, and the pulpit Bible was ruined by
water. All this because a little nail decided to quit!

But what of the nail? While holding the shingle, it was obscure, but
it was also useful. Buried in the mud it was just as obscure, but now
it was useless and would soon by eaten up by rust!

The moral of the story: EVERY HUMAN BEING IS IMPORTANT! Like the
nail, you may feel obscure at times, but just like the nail, your
absence is felt. When you are not present in other's lives, in some
way they hurt...

We are ALL a part of the Lord's ministry. --1 Corinthians 12:26-27

I love all of our soldiers far and wide, past and present. I appreciate the sacrifices they made and still make. I am so proud of that beautiful flag that flies so high! Every time I see that beautiful flag drape the coffin of a soldier I am humbled and proud and I shed a tear. Each time I hear that a precious man or woman has died, I wonder how I would feel if that was my husband or father or mother or sister or brother or friend. My heart goes out to their families. I love the song American Soldier by Toby Keith. I think I will post it and the lyrics. May we never forget our soldiers and how they take our place and fight for our country so we can be free! I am so proud to be an American! Now I am all teary eyed! God bless America!

Today is my daughter's 19th birthday! She is in her second year of College and well on her way to being an RN! I am so proud of her! There are people who can walk away from you.

And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.

You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title 'C'ntarea Americii, meaning 'Ode To America ') in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei 'The Daily Event' or 'News of the Day'.



~An Ode to America ~


Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs.

On 9/ll, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about.

Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.


After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing: 'God Bless America !'

I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy. What on earth can unites the Americans in such way? Their land? Their history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion... Only freedom can work such miracles.

Oh, no problem. Thanks for posting what you did. I was actually feeling kind of down, and your link brought my spirits up. I wasn't even logged in...but I wanted to thank you.

I love that empty chair story. Brought tears to my eyes.

I used to have a chair I loved as a little girl. I didn't know God as well as I do now, so I used to imagine this big fluffy and overly stuffed chair was someone carrying me. I just loved that chair. It ended up on the sidewalk one day. OMG, it was as if you tore away my only friend. At that time, it was...but I know better now. God's so cool and awesome, who needs a chair, other than to symbolize who is always there. And that story made me think of that.

Well, enough about me. I hope you are well Blazer. I don't know you that well, but when I log on, I'll take the time to stop in a say hello!

Today, one of the sweetest women who ever lived, died. She was my step mother. She loved me like her own. She is the one who taught me what true love is. Hi there!

So you have two dogs too! Hope and Lady, nice names! Mine are always in trouble, especially one. She likes to eat grass, and actually, she eats just about anything! Missing a sock? She probably ate it, lol!

A bit ago, she was sick, spitting up...gross. Turns out she had a NERF dart stuck down in her throat and the vet had to pull it out somehow with a long instrument. I wasn't in the room. Anyway, the vet must have hurt her neck because she was yelping in pain which caused me to get her in the car and take her to the Vet ER. Well, they said she had "wobblers" (she has Dane in her). I was so sad. But? She improved dramatically after a while and I suspect it was not wobblers, but an injury she had incurred due to her vet yanking out the NERF dart! They like to chase chipmunks, and thankfully they are too clumsy to catch them!

She is a very good watch dog but very mischievous. She will get out of the gate if she can! She loves to play ball and adores water!

The other one will help in destroying (chewing up, eating sometimes!) whatever the other one "hunts down". LOL! Today, she hunted down a pencil! Silly girls. Even the word meese isn't the proper way to say more than one moose, I call them my "meese" because they look, from a distance, like two moose!
