I grow tired of hearing about all of the talk about Division I football. So I decided to start this thread. I went to GVSU, although I never graduated from there so I'll just be here rooting for the Lakers to win yet another national title.

Is David "Circus" Kircus still in the NFL?

The last I heard about him was when he was arrested, I think that was last year but it might have been two years ago. I did a quick search for him and ESPN has stats for him through the 2006 season so I would guess that the NFL is done with him. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=4633

They might have wished they hadn't. When the smoke cleared in Kimbrough Stadium to where one could read the scoreboard, it was WTAM 75, Azuza 13.

But yeah, no Idea how this game got scheduled, the two teams have met three times now in the last eight years, first two times were in L.A.

We'll see what happens when the bracket comes out at the end of the season. Last year I thought both of our teams would be on opposite sides of the bracket, but it wasn't meant to be. What was worst is that our teams never met. That would have been some fun talking.

The season is over, and the real games begin.

WTAM finished 10-1 and ranked #9 nationally, after wiping out #19 Tarleton State 51-0 in the final regular season game. I don't see the rankings taking into account the final week of play, but have to assume the Buffaloes would move up in ranking after their thrashing of the Texans.

Grand Valley State finished #1 and 10-0, and the playoff bracket has been released.

http://www.d2football.com/images/2008playoffbracket.gif

The only way the Lakers and Buffaloes would play is in the national championship game. WTAM must first get past Central Washington, at home then somehow beat Abliene Christian who handed them their only loss this season. However the Buffs are fully healthy now for the first time since week two this season, and have their first playoff game at home for the first time ever since joining Division 2.

GVSU and WTAM WILL collide in the regular season next year, however.

Here's wishing the best for the Lakers, may they find themselves in the national championship game vs. West Texas A&M this season!

Which Buffalo team will show up in the playoffs? The one who shuts out nationally ranked teams 51-0? Or the one that got scragged by Abilene Christian?

Such drama in Div. 2 playoffs... Nothing beats it. No BCS, no AP, nothing decides the national champion except who wins the tournament.

Tomorrow's the day.

In Frank Kimbrough Memorial Stadium, 20,000 will pack in to watch WT's first ever playoff game at home.

The foe is a team that's almost the Buffaloes mirror image -- #5 nationally ranked Central Washington. They are one tough cookie, but are traveling thousands of miles to play.

And by the way Dr. Funk, West Chester at 8-3 is ranked #4 in Super Regional 1, S. Conn is #5. WC ranked 22 nationally.

That's a crazy score. Did the defense's take the day off? As for ACU winning the title, well I wouldn't be so quick to say that. My money is on GVSU.Neither offense has been stopped or even slowed down much all year. It's somewhat surprising WT didn't fare better, having shut out #19 Tarleton only a few weeks ago, and holding ACU to 52 points in the 17 point loss when they played in the regular season. The 35 WT hung on them in that loss was the only game where ACU gave up more than 20 points all year.

WT limited Central Washington's high powered offense 49-42 last week, so yeah we're a little bit stunned in Buffalo land.

One thing I can point to, is early in the THIRD quarter, trailing by only 10, WT tried an onside kick. THEN followed that up with three more? All in the 3rd quarter, after scores. Onside kicks in the third quarter? Four in a row? None of them were successful, and all gave ACU the ball at or near the Buffs 40. Not good.

Only turnover in the game was a WT muffed punt early in the third after WT had stopped ACU cold on its first possession of the 2nd half. That gave the ball right back to ACU near the WT 40 as well. Two plays later? ACU touchdown.

The moral of the story seems to be, you can't give a monster like ACU a real short field to work with, FIVE times in a row.

That ACU offense is impossible to hold down even in the best circumstances. GVSU, if they wind up playing ACU, gonna have their hands full.

Recruiting update: The West Texas A&M Buffaloes landed the cream of the area crop, signing the pair of twin brothers from repeat state champion Canadian high among the 78 entering freshmen signed to national letters of intent.

Broken down by position, the Buffaloes signed nine offensive linemen, seven quarterbacks, five running backs and 20 receivers. Defensively, they signed seven defensive linemen, 13 linebackers and 16 defensive backs, plus one kicker.

By contrast, season-opening opponent and annual national championship contender Grand Valley State only signed 36 new recruits.

One of last season's West Texas A&M Buffaloes was drafted to the NFL last week, QB Keith Null to the Rams in the 6th round. WR Charlie Martin signed a free agent contract with the Chargers as well!

Graham Harrell of Texas Tech wasn't drafted, but these Div. 2 Buffs are in the NFL!

The Rams and the Chargers are lucky to have these guys, fans of these teams should be very pleased. They lit up Div 2 four years in a row and both guys carry zero off-field baggage. Null is even married.
