Gotta love Will Rogers, just as relevant today!
On account of being a democracy and run by the people, we are the only nation in the world that has to keep a government four years, no matter what it does.
Our constitution protects aliens, drunks and U.S. Senators.
The movies are the only business where you can go out front and applaud yourself.
There ought to be one day-- just one-- when there is open season on senators.
There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you.
This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.
There is only one thing that can kill the Movies, and that is education.
The more you read and observe about this Politics thing, you got to admit that each party is worse than the other. The one that's out always looks the best.
The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has.

"One does not make himself a giant, by cutting the legs off the people surrounding him." - Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln, during his lifetime, was probably the most despised, criticized and hated presidents in history, even far more so than GWB. If you get a chance, there's a book, written by Dale Carnegie about Lincoln that is fascinating. It's called "Lincoln, the Unknown". Read it, if you can find it.
I know so many people who point fingers at others, thinking it somehow brings themselves up a notch. Some posters in WP could learn from this. Calling someone an idiot doesn't bring you closer to genius.

It means that if you search really hard, you may be lucky if you find one, but having one does not in itself bring luck.
In other words - don't trust in things to bring you luck; go out and make your own luck through hard work. You will find in the end that it is not luck after all.

I love Lincoln quotes. That man had a way of putting a mountain of words in a little mouthful.
One of my favorites: When responding to someone accusing him of being two-faced:
"If I were actually two-faced, would I be wearing this one?" - Abraham Lincoln

We all want to fall in love.
Why?
Because that experience
makes us feel completely alive.
Where every sense is heightened,
every emotion is magnified,
our everyday reality is ****tered
and we are flying into the heavens.
It may only last a moment,
an hour, an afternoon.
But that doesn't diminish its value.
Because we are left with memories
that we treasure for the rest of our lives

Marilyn Monroe:
It's woman's spirit and mood a man has to stimulate in order to make sex interesting. The real lover is the man who can thrill you by touching your head or smiling into your eyes or just staring into space.
I'm very definitely a woman and I enjoy it.
It's better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone.
No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they are pretty, even if they aren't.
It's not true that I had nothing on. I had the radio on.
I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when their right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust noone but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.

I believe -
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I believe -
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while, and you must forgive them for that.
I believe -
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.
I believe -
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I believe -
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I believe -
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I believe -
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I believe -
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I believe -
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I believe -
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I believe -
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I believe -
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.
I believe -
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I believe -
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I believe -
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I believe -
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I believe -
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I believe -
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I believe -
That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I believe -
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I believe -
That two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
I believe -
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.
I believe -
That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.
I believe -
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I believe -
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

Blessed are those who give without remembering or recieve without forgetting.
When one is truly in love, one not only says it, but shows it.
Love is listening to the cry of the distressed, the hurting.
Love is giving of yourself; a smile a friendly greeting.
Love is doing, volunteering, serving, helping to mold
Love is sharing, praying, and telling of God's love to young and old.

Help Me See
In this dreary world where greed is king,
I pray the Lord for this one thing,
That I might always understand
My brother's need and lend a hand.
To see the tear before it's shed,
to hear the plea before it's said.
To recognize the grief that lies
Hidden deep in someone's eyes.
To be aware of the broken heart
of one whose world just fell apart.
To reach into another's space
and feel the tears upon his face.
To have an empathy with those
in need of shelter, food and clothes.
and where I'm needed let me start
With helping hand and loving heart.

There is nothing like a Mother's love.
It is a precious gift from up above.
More precious than diamonds or gold.
It will make you happy when you are old.
A mother's face shines so bright.
You can see her lasting light.
She will keep you warm on a cold, dark night.
Her love is out of sight.
She loves you
whether you are good or bad.
Her love is the best you've ever had.
She can take a heart that is blue.
kiss it and make it brand new.
No matter what
her love is true.
When you were little
she held your hand.
As you got older
she listened to all your plans.
She smiles and understands.
As you grow up and go on your own.
May you never forget your home.
Always remember her love is best.
She loves you more than all the rest.
Thank God for the gift of her love.
A precious gift from up above.
When she is gone
she waits for you.
In the land up above the blue.

There are three rules I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city, and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick with that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
