This is the team that made the Marlins look competitive.
Then turns around and blows a three run lead in the bottom of the ninth to a bunch of stiffs in Philadelphia.
Geeze.

Yep, but they can make it hard sometimes.

my dad always said it was hard to be a sports' fan in Houston.
I bought my husband a home plate signed by Nolan Ryan and the seven catchers who caught his no-hitters. Each catcher also wrote the date of the no-hitter he caught. My husband loves it!!

I think that had more to do with Roy Oswalt than it did with the Phillies. He's a hell of a pitcher.

The only bright spot in the rotation. Still the relievers and closers are always ready to hand back any lead.

How's that Lidge trade working out?

So far, so good. He got hurt in spring training (apparently there was some scar tissue left after his off-season knee surgery), but 2 saves, no ER allowed, 5 K's in 5 appearances.

The Astros' park looks nice, but they need to move the fences back, raze that damn hill, and get rid of the in-play flagpole.

They tried to mimic Crosley Field in Cincinnati. I've got to tell you this: the left field terrace at Crosley was nowhere as steep as it is in Minute Maid Park. Here's the Crosley terrace: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/18/CrosleyField1968.jpg

For the record: the scoreboard shows that Hall of Famer Lou Brock is at bat for the Cardinals.

Are they just teasing by making a run at the wild card?

JohnRandolph
September 22nd, 2008, 11:21 am
Staying just close enough in the wild card hunt to keep me interested, but I wont be as completely disappointed as the Cubbies fans will be when they fail to make it to the Series.

Well, thats it, the Brewers won, officially eliminating the Astros from wild card contention.

After the next two against the Braves, I dont wanna hear **** about baseball 'till next season.

Ed Wade is your GM. Get used to staying just close enough in the wild card hunt but not make it.

BTW...thanks for Lidge. ;)

You were oh so right about Wade, looks like this next season is going to be played with goodness knows who. Maybe the Rangers will be interesting enough to watch some this season.

Bumping this for a short rant.

I have come to the conclusion that this team is a tax write off for Drayton McLame. In a supreme bit of brilliant thinking, starting catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez (batting .251) was traded to the Rangers for an injury prone minor league pitcher and two prospects to be named later. I know the bullpen is wore slap out, but thats only 'cause we keep dragging up has beens and never was starting pitching year after year.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
