I didn't care for the new format too much. I really didn't think any of those fights were spectacular. Most of the fights were downright sloppy, as Forrest and Rampage were pointing out.
I usually love TUF, but I'm not very excited about next week's episode.

I just thought the fights were way too sloppy. Part of what I liked about TUF was that these guys had at least some experience, or at least most of the fights were edited to look polished. I kept flipping back and forth between something else, and kept thinking "I could see this crap at a local bar on any given Friday".
Hopefully, the rest of the series will be as good as the others.
It wasn't a good Fight Night for some TUF alums. I was surprised to see Parisyan lose.

Without a doubt Rick. I also think that when it comes down to something so close that the team that is behind should get the call, otherwise call it a draw. That cat even flipped that guy off him while on his back which is very hard to do. I understand why Quinton when on a Rampage. So far this year's TUF has been a let down for me. Yes, some good fights but it has been hard to get to know the fighters like before. I like them having to fight to get into the House, but it should have went a little faster. ~BH

The UFC has cut former UFC lightweight contender Din Thomas (22-8 MMA, 5-4 UFC), "The Ultimate Fighter 6" runner-up Tommy Speer (9-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) and Shooto veteran Kuniyoshi Hironaka (11-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) from its roster of fighters.
The news was reported in this week's print edition of the Wrestling Observer.
The three fighters are the latest casualties as the UFC continues to cut its roster by a reported 25 percent
Other fighters dropped from their UFC contracts over the past month include Joe Doerksen, Travis Lutter, Charles McCarthy, Jake O'Brien and Kalib Starnes. Additionally, numerous cast members from "The Ultimate Fighter 6" were cut earlier this year, and the majority of cast members from the current season of "TUF" will be released from the organization next month.
UFC officials have recently stated that they want to trim the roster to assure fighters can be scheduled more frequently and to avoid long layoffs between fights.
Personally, I think it's a good idea. Cut out the boring riff raff, get the more dynamic fighters into a heavier rotation.

UFC fighter Chris Leben, who turned himself in to Clackamas County officials in Portland, Oregon, last week, went before a judge on Thursday for sentencing for his probation violation case.
According to Clackamas County Court officials, Leben’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 35-days in jail. With credit given for time already served, his release would come at the end of May, putting his release inside of two weeks prior to a scheduled bout against Michael Bisping at UFC 85 in London.
Following the completion of his jail time, Leben will be clear of his probation, which stems from a DUI arrest in 2005.
“When Chris moved to Hawaii, he was in the process of completing classes for his probation on an old DUI in Portland, Oregon,” said Leben’s friend and employer Thompson in an email to MMAWeekly.com last week. “We worked hard to get his probation transferred to Hawaii, but were unsuccessful.”
Knowing that he had to acquire a visa to travel to England to face Bisping, Leben had no choice but to turn himself in for violating his probation. According to Thompson, “He immediately flew to Oregon and turned himself in on the probation violation.”
With his release date being so close to the time of the proposed fight with Bisping, it is highly unlikely that Leben would be prepared for the bout. However, neither Thompson nor UFC officials were available for comment at the time of publication.

Yeah, Chris is a tuff kid but 2 weeks isn't gonna get him prepared to face Bisping. I believe even if he was at his best, Mike would still dominate the fight and win. Leben doesn't need another loss, that might get him knocked out of the UFC. Maybe this will end up helping him if he can't fight. ~BH

Yeah, yuh know it kind of is. I have watched every Season and this is by far the worse so far. If not for Quinton's entertainment it would be a dud. I mean, there have been a few good fights, but I also feel like I barely know the fighters because they hardly ever show them in the house. Also, I liked the old house better. All the history there made it classic.
I don't think Forest has much of a chance against Quinton either. Quinton has so much more experience coming from Pride. Plus, he has almost twice as many fights. Anything can happen though inside the Octagon. ~BH

Apparently, It has just been reported that Frank Mir and Rodrigo Nogueira will be the Coaches for the upcoming Ultimate Fighter 8 next fall. I guess TUF is keeping up with their latest tradition of ruining the once great show. The Coaches should be Liddel and Evans or maybe Penn and Sherk in a rematch after whoever wins this weekend. What? Rodrigo Nogueira? LOL!!!!! who has won 2 ****ing fights in the UFC? And now gets a shot at Coaching TUF over all the others? Yeah I know his over-all MMA record is 34-4-1 and that he is a bad ass but this is Bullcrap in my opinion. This is the UFC and he has onlu beating Silvia and Herring. He's not a big name so they are taking a big chance with this one. I can think of many others who deserve it first. Sorry bro, but I think that this is a big mistake Dana. ;) ~BH

Quinton is the champ. Of course he deserves to be a coach. Aside from that if it wasn't for his antics on the current season, this season wouldn't even be worth watching. That whole net incident was funny. The way he played it up and talked about being netted in a sarcastic kinda way was hilarious. His sense of humor makes that show. Forrest is a dud. There's many others that deserved a shot over Griffin, but Griffin makes it a good fight despite who he faces so it should be decent I guess. If Griffin wins, he will have come from nothing and gained everything. He was living in a garage or a basement like three years ago. Good for him.

I agree. Weakest card yet in my opinion. I hated to see Hughe's go down like that but like I said before I think he has reached his end. Hopefully, we all will get to watch him beat Matt Serra before he retires. The rest of the fights, other than Swick's and Bisping's were sad. Even those two were not the greatest match ups to watch. I thought the card was great, it was nice seeing Hughes get exposed for the second time. The guy has talent, he's just too one dimensional and predictable.
I was also really happy for Werdum, he is just plowing through the top UFC guys since his close decision loss to Arlovski. If he improves his take downs and stand up, he will be tough to beat. Some might complain about the stoppage, but I think it would have ended shortly regardless, Vera wasn't doing anything to improve his position. Werdum is a beast on the ground, even Gonzaga (who is an ADCC champ) didn't want to have anything to do with him on the ground.

For once you and I agree Ig. Hughes is predictable, even though he is a great champion. All anyone has to do is look at his record. I respect Matt alot and I hated to see him go down like that, but he lost to a better, younger buck. However, even Alves mentioned in his press conference that in the back of his head he was going to try a flying knee right before Hughes attempted a take down, so yes maybe you are correct. I think you might be bro.
Again, I agree. Gonzaga is a pro, and he didn't even want any of Werdum. I am gald Werdum won. I never cared for Vera, and I knew he was gonna be knocked off his stool. Good to hear from you bro. Best wishes. ~BH

I think calling Hughes "predictable" or "one dimensional" is a bit of a stretch. Great wrestling and ground and pound, good standup, and his strength allows for great submission defense. I think the problem may be mental, or diminshed skills with age. Alves has lost to someone with a similar skill set, Jon Fitch.
85 was a scheduling mess with the number of injury dropouts. The Liddell/Rua fight was dropped when Rua had knee surgery, and Rashad Evans was named as the Rua replacement. Then the Liddell/Evans was switched up when Liddell pulled a hammy, and James Irvin named as Liddell's replacement. Then the Evans/Irvin fight was dropped entirely when Irvin broke his foot, and changed to Hughes/Alves. I'm a Hughes fan, but even a non-fan can respect the way Hughes has stepped up to the plate every time the UFC has called, even when Alves didn't make weight and was a third of the way into the light heavyweight division, weight-wise.
There are plenty of older fighters doing well, Liddell and Coture immediately come to mind. I'm not sure if Hughes problem is mental or physical, but I'd like to see him beat Serra like a red-headed stepchild, and ride off into the sunset.

Alves weighing in at 174 lbs put him nearly a third way into the middleweight division. The light heavyweights are the 205 pounders. I don't think 4lbs made a difference in the fight. I would have liked to see Matt win, but maybe his time has passed to be a UFC champion.

Matt cuts a lot of weight, he was probably 185lbs+- at fight time. I wouldn't be surprised if he was 200ish during the middle of his training camp. Rich Franklin is sometimes over 200lbs when he actually fights even though he is in the 185lb division. I don't have the sources with me now, but most of the fighters have openly admited that they cut a lot of weight. Cutting over 10 lbs isn't uncommon at all.
I don't think the 4 lbs was that big of a deal, I bet he just had problems cutting the weight due to his ankle injury.

Sorry bud, but his standup is atrocious. Even an aging Royce Gracie was landing strikes on him, and Royce is the furthest thing from a striker. Someone with Hughes wrestling ability and even mediocre striking could have put Royce away standing.
You acurately described GSP though, he actually has the whole package. However, I think there are better strikers at that weight.

He's only around 25-26 years old now, that fight took place 2 years ago. He's improved his takedown defense and ground game considerably.
Look at GSP's first loss to Hughes, he was around the same age as Alves was when he lost to Fitch. Fighters are able to pick up techniques rather quickly in their early 20s.
PS- This doesn't mean I think Alves is unbeatable or even the best in the weight class.

Hughes was/is good..but it doesnt matter how good someone is, if you dont change your style and add to your repertoire, you will get beat. Fighters train to beat the fighter they're up against..if you never change, it's gets easier to train to beat you with every fight.

Hughes is predictable. He doesn't changle his style. Hes slowed considerately throughout the years as well. Difference between him and Randy when Randy Fought Tim and beat Tim is that Randy beat Tim punch for punch on their feet mostly. Hughes ground game has suffered with age and the younger guys are able to take the old man at what he use to be able to take others at. His time has come. I predict retirement after he battles Serra. If not, hes gonna end up like Shamrock, going out on the bottom rather than on top.

You're absolutely right, Rick, I've never seen an episode of Survivor in my life. American Idol? I'd rather perform a self-appendectomy with a rusty spoon. Road Rules and Real World marathons were a cause of frequent fistfights in my college apartment. I was pushing for Tim to beat CB. I was thinking the whole 3rd round, flying knee! Flying knee!!!! CB was so tired and Tim could have knocked him out. I have alot of respect for Tim. I like that guy. I think Amir can beat CB again. I suggest many BJ Penn flying kicks. Stay out of the clinch because all that CB does is take you down.

And another thing..................In the TUF finale last week, which is also being re-aired tonight on Spike, it was nice to see Dante Rivera get his ass kicked by a young buck named Matt Riddle. Riddle is young and still has alot to learn, but after listening to all the talk from Dante inside the TUF house it was nice to see Riddle show him who has the bigger balls. Rivera still is a good fighter though. I just think Riddle might have a future in the UFC. He's a tuff kid. Of Course, Tim beating him showed how much heart he has. On tape Tim was our-matched as far as physical make up. Tim without a doubt buried riddle with his experience. It's one of the best fights of the shows Season. ~BH

Fidelis, Any opinions on Anderson Silva moving up to 205 against James Irvin? As much as I respect Silva, I think it's a big mistake for his career to move up to 205 (light-heavyweight). I think Irvin will beat him, and if he is lucky enough to beat Irvin, which is possible for a fighter such as Silva, then he will never compete with a Rampage Jackson or Liddel. Hell, Evan's or Griffin will crush him I think. He simply doesn't have the power to take on those guys. His only hope is the clinch. Middle Weight to Light-Heavyweight is not the same as Welter weight to Lightweight. His body style doesn't fit it. If I am wrong, I expect to get my balls busted here without a doubt. I won't be wrong though. ~BH

Irvin is one thing, but can anyone imagine Silva against Rampage or Liddel? Hell, James Irvin knocked out Houston Alexander. Fact is, Great fighters hit slumps. Look at Couture, he lost to Liddel twice but came back and accomplished what no other fighter in UFC history had done. Yes, Liddel might not come back. It remains to be seen. Beating Evan's will not really convince me either because all he does is run like Floyd Mayweather boxing. If he can beat Rampage, that is if Griffin loses, then that would prove he is back. It's gonna be some time before we know if he is heading down the same road as Matt Hughes. ~BH

He seemed to care more about the fighters and did more to help them win than Hughes. Hughes seemed like the ****y Jock and Serra just seemed more like a friend.

Rampage didn't bring the bang. Let it go 5. Lost the decision. Didn't see that one coming. However considering that the LHW division is stacked with like 3-4 LHW contenders that either one is entitle to a title shot, I don't believe Forrest is going to be champ for long, unless Dana feeds him soft matches. And Dana White is a Forrest fan, so I can see that happening.
Bolshevik Hunter
July 6th, 2008, 5:06 pm
I am very suprised by the outcome, though I knew Forrest had a chance to win. I was pulling for him. Usually I hold the position that you have to take the belt away from the Champion. Meaning, you gotta knock him out or submit your opponet for 'me personally' to believe you won the fight.
However, Forrest clearly out-scored Quinton throughout the battle. He injured Quinton's knee in the 1st and 4th rounds, and he ground and pounded Rampage for the last half of the 1st, I believe it was. That ground and pound was an "ass woopin" like Rampage says, only it was him receiving it this time.
Another factor to Forrest winning the decision was that when both times Rampage got Forrest down, Forrest got back up and never got ground and pounded really other than the cut on his eye. Quinton never could get up with Griffin on top of him. So, in my mind Forrest won this fight. I still love Quinton's game, and I have alot of respect for his character and personality. I wish him the best, and he will be back. I hope Chuck beats Evan's so we can see Rampage vs. Evans and Chuck vs. Forrest. ~BH

Fidelis, Actually for some reason Comcast PPV out here currently doesn't offer it in HD. I have HD, and I love it while watching NFL and other sports. Apparently they are working on it and when they offer it I will without a doubt use it. In regards to the close up action inside the Octagon, I am sure it's unbelievable. ~BH

I opted out of the DVR. That would of cost extra. The bigthing here is the fact cablevision doesn't charge extra for HD like satellite does. Plus, they are about to add like 30 more HD channels by the end of the month, like discovery, spike, etc. I watch the WEC fights on VS HD. Awsome.

The DVR is worth it though. Then you can record the fights and watch them later. Like the pre-lims that I miss sometimes while cooking or talking and drinking cold suds with friends. I watched the main event again last night. Couldn't live without it in regards to TUF. ~BH

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Crowds in Arkansas came for the lure of cage fighting and $1 beer, but police say what they got instead was men ripping each others' clothes off and kissing — a stunt suspected of being orchestrated by Sacha Baron Cohen of "Borat" fame.
"We had a contract for cage fighting. We were deceived," said Dwight Duncan, president and CEO of Four States Fair Grounds in Texarkana, where the first of two Arkansas fights raised suspicions last month.
Matt Labov, a Los Angeles-based publicist for Baron Cohen, said he had no comment Monday about the faked fights. One of Baron Cohen's movies is due out next year.
The day after the June 5 Texarkana bout, Fort Smith's convention center hosted "Blue Collar Brawlin.'" Fort Smith police Sgt. Adam Holland said organizers told him a character named "Straight Dave" would goad a planted audience member into the ring for a fight.
The two men would then wrestle, rip away some of their clothes and share a brief kiss reminiscent of one between Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell in the film "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby."
Producers said "there would be a romantic embrace," Holland said. "They said it was kind of to essentially make fun, poke fun at wrestling — two guys rolling around on the floor, all sweaty."
An elaborate array of mounted and handheld video cameras caught the crowd of 1,600's reaction as the two men "went right up to the line" of the city's morality laws, Holland said. The two men stripped down to their underwear, kissed and rubbed on each other, the sergeant said.
The audience, as well as local fighters drawn to take part in the show, became enraged. "It set the crowd off lobbing beers," Holland said. "They had beers in plastic cups. Those things can get some distance on them actually."
Holland said it took officers about 45 minutes to clear the convention center, as the two actors sprinted away through a specially set-aside tunnel.
Those in attendance were told by several signs on display that they'd be filmed, Holland said, and signed waivers before the event. Convention center sales director Karin Hobbs declined to name the event's sponsor Monday.
Baron Cohen became a national celebrity after his 2006 hit movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," in which he played a bumbling reporter from the Central Asia nation.
News of the faked cage fights comes as Baron Cohen is in production of a movie titled "Bruno," named after the gay Austrian fashion reporter he developed for "Da Ali G Show." Baron Cohen, in the guise of Bruno, often interviewed hapless subjects in the South.
If the cage match visits came from Baron Cohen, it wouldn't be the first time Arkansas fell for a practical joke. In 2000, then-Gov. Mike Huckabee fell for a prank and congratulated Canada for preserving its icebound Parliament, calling it a "national igloo."

JT doesn't draw the fans worldwide like Quinton does.
Chuck? It remains to be seen. He defeated Wanderlei Silva recently, so it's still up in the air. If he loses to Evan's, which I believe he won't, then he will most likely have a shot at the belt against Griffin where he could be the Champ again. So, who know's. If he loses to Evan's, he's finished. I would like to see him against Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida. That would prove alot.
Hughes? As much as I like and respect Matt, I think he has reached his end. Franklin too. They are both great fighters, only their weight classes are full of so much young fresh talent that they both most likely will never hold a belt again. I still want to see Hughes dump Serra on his head though. ~BH

Good riddens. A man has a right to bargain for a better deal. It's a business, and these guys are the ones getting the bruises. He's made Dana White and the UFC a LOT of money. I don't view 'greed' as a bad thing, it's only business. Dana White would try to break a contract if it was in his monetary interest to do so......and the organization certainly didn't give him everything he wanted strictly out of the goodness of it's heart......he made them MONEY!

Fedor is a great fighter however I would like to see him fight someone off of two wins rather than someone who is coming off 2 losses as Sylvia was. This by no means solidifies Fedor as #1 p4p.
Anderson Sylvia on the other hand, is the greatest p4p fighter of all time. A classact to boot.

1) Sylvia is not coming off two losses, he lost one time to Nog in a fight he was clearly winning until the third round. He won his previous fight against Vera who is a solid opponent himself. Nog is considered by many to be the clear number 2 in the world, losing to him does not drop you down the rankings a whole lot.
2) Fedor has fought just as many top fighters as Silva (if not more) in his career and he has not lost. Just to remind you, his one loss on his record is not even considered a loss by anyone because it was caused by an illegal blow seconds into a fight that cut him.
Silva, on the other hand, has 2 clear cut losses in pride, he even lost in the stand up portion. These were not flukish losses where he got cut or flash KO'd by a wild hay maker. (*Notice, I am not counting his loss to Okami)
3) What says P4P more than beating guys that are much larger than yourself? Fedor has fought super heavyweights, and he is lighter and shorter than almost everyone he fights. He is not even 6'0" tall (shorter than even Silva), they exaggerate his height by an inch or so like they do with many other fighters. Silva cuts a ton of weight and is at least the same size if not larger than his opponents at 185lb. He isn't even small compared to other fighters at 205lbs.

And one other thing, who has Anderson beaten outside of Henderson and Franklin that is considered cream of the crop? Surely you do not think guys like Lutter and Leben are world beaters. My point is not to say Anderson is not one of the top P4P fighters, I am just saying it is a bit premature to say he is the "best of all times" with only 2 huge wins on his record.

Sylvia was manhandled by Randy, barely won a unanimous against Vera in which Vera broke his hand early on in the first round, then manhandled by Fedor. Fedor hasn't had a worthy fight in over 2 years. So now we are basing P4P on past accomplishments no matter how long ago they are? Negative. We judge p4p currently on current stats and current win/loss ratio. Fedor is back in the game after being out for sometime, thus he has to prove he is worthy enough to be put into the p4p category. He fought sylvia who has hardly been anything but impressive in his past 6 fights, all ending in him losing or winning by UD.
On the other hand Anderson Silva has dominated all in his weightclass holding onto his belt by beating whoever is put in front of him, not winning by UD but by dominating the competition through knockout or submission. He goes up a weightclass and dominates last night. He is currently p4p the best out there.
Fedor has the possibility of being such today, but his past does not dictate current rating. To say it does is ridiculous. You can talk about any past great then and claim they are currently the best not for what they do today but for what they did years past.

Yet in 5 rounds he could not finish Sylvia.

It was boring, but it was also pretty clear cut in the judge's eyes. He almost knocked Vera out late in the third. And FYI, I was actually there sitting in the audience at the event.
then manhandled by Fedor. Fedor hasn't had a worthy fight in over 2 years.
Not true, his win over Mark Hunt was less than 2 years ago, Hunt defeated both Wanderlei and Crocop (when Crocop was ranked highly which is important*) and is arguably the most dangerous MMA HW striker outside of Schilt (who Fedor also defeated). Lindland is a former silver medalist in the Olympics, and he was around the same weight as Randy when he fought Fedor. Lindland defeated Rampage in the eyes of many (he lost a split decision on the score cards) not long before his fight with Fedor. He is as worthy as Leben or Lutter in my eyes.
Hongman Choi is severely underrated and I truly believe he would completely destroy Sylvia, and give many other HWs problems. Heck, he gave Fedor more problems than Sylvia did. Even though he has that "freakshow aura", the man has wins over top fighters in K1 kickboxing. He also is an accomplished ssireum wrestler.
Please, do some research before spewing your nonsense.
So now we are basing P4P on past accomplishments no matter how long ago they are? Negative.
His recent wins are not enough to put him at the top, again, he has only faced 2 top opponents. The 185lb division in the UFC is quite thin, if he cleaned out the 170lb division I would have been more impressed.
We judge p4p currently on current stats and current win/loss ratio.
You didn't define "current" in specific terms, thus you have no argument. We have to go back several years due to how infrequently even active fighters fight. Silva is only fighting around 3 times a year tops in the UFC. If I applied your apparent vague definition of "current" to Silva's record we could ignore some of his fights that took place in the UFC.
On the other hand Anderson Silva has dominated all in his weightclass holding onto his belt by beating whoever is put in front of him, not winning by UD but by dominating the competition through knockout or submission.
He got mounted by Lutter and lost the first round to Henderson. Fedor has not dropped a round in his career, ever. You could even argue he has never really been on the defensive outside of a few take downs. And even in those cases, Fedor finished the fight off his back much quicker than Silva has.
He goes up a weightclass and dominates last night. He is currently p4p the best out there.
He dominated a low ranking 205lber, if he had defeated someone legit at 205lb you might have a point.
Fedor has the possibility of being such today, but his past does not dictate current rating. To say it does is ridiculous. You can talk about any past great then and claim they are currently the best not for what they do today but for what they did years past.
It is not "the past" man, he dominated the most deep HW division in MMA from 2002-2006, and he even got a few solid wins in the last year or so.

Same goes for Sylvia.
It was boring, but it was also pretty clear cut in the judge's eyes. He almost knocked Vera out late in the third. And FYI, I was actually there sitting in the audience at the event.
Ok, you being there doesn't add to the debate. Anyways, Vera brought Sylvia to a decision with one hand, plus giving up size and strength along with one hand to Sylvia and Sylvia still couldn't finish Vera.
Please, do some research before spewing your nonsense.
Done it. Fact is Fedor has been out of the game for sometime. By beating Sylvia last night doesn't solify anything for him currently. What he accomplished back then makes him a great fighter but doesn't currently have any bearing on current p4p ratings.
His recent wins are not enough to put him at the top, again, he has only faced 2 top opponents. The 185lb division in the UFC is quite thin, if he cleaned out the 170lb division I would have been more impressed.
So while you don't hold any other fighter up to that light when deciding p4p, silva must wipe out all divisions before you even recognize his accomplishments.
Silva is only fighting around 3 times a year tops in the UFC. If I applied your apparent vague definition of "current" to Silva's record we could ignore some of his fights that took place in the UFC.
Silva is a champion. He fights when hes defending his title, and most recently fights even when not defending his current title. He has fought alot more than Fedor in recent years, therefore for you to judge him on lack of fights while holding up Fedor to such a high standard I find bias involved in your side of the argument.
He dominated a low ranking 205lber, if he had defeated someone legit at 205lb you might have a point.
Nonetheless he moved up and dominated on 5 weeks notice. For someone who gives missing in action Fedor so much leeway you sure buckle down hard on Silva. Interesting.
It is not "the past" man, he dominated the most deep HW division in MMA from 2002-2006, and he even got a few solid wins in the last year or so.

Indeed.
Fedor has cleaned out the Heavy weight division. So has Anderson in the Middle Weight mind.
Both are great fighters-I personally can not see Fedor losing to anyone at all. Anderson is not going to be beat either for a long time at middleweight. If he goes up to 205-then I can see some trouble.

Why is Randy "greedy"? The market dictates what you are worth. If the market says X amount-that is what you should get paid-unless you are some tool who believes in the concept of "loyalty" to a company that wants to put you in a cage to have your head mashed in.

Never claimed Fedor wasn't a great fighter. I'm stating that he hasn't beat anyone in the past couple of years worthwhile that he should be on top of any current list. He can be put on the list of past great fighters, no doubt. But we distinguish past and present. And currently he isn't fighting anyone for him to be put on any current list of p4p fighters.

Grab some cush bubs! Ignotus and thr3, calm down brothers. I respect you guys alot, and I love your opinions. Even when I disagree with them. You guys know your MMA.
Bro's, get off Fedor's nut-sack! But at the same time, others should get off Anderson Silva's. That fight against Irvin was an absolute joke. Maybe the worst UFC fight I have ever witnessed. Randy? He would defeat Fedor if his contract allowed it. Just my opinion. Tim? he would beat many peoples asses, yet he is on the same road as Hughes, he's reached his end.
Again, Anderson Silva? He is a great fighter. However, you will see his young student defeat him, Lyoto Machida. Anderson is a force at 185, but most fighters at 205 don't cower like Irvin did last night. What a disgrace, because Irvin can fight. I think Chuck can take Anderson Silva without a doubt. Griffin too maybe, yEP! Dat's right bro's.
Oh yeah, sure all the Chuck haters are gonna come out and say that Silva can beat him. I laugh at the fools who boe down to Anderson Silva. I love the guy by the way. Liddell would break Silva down. He has way more experience than Anderson does.
Lyoto Machida's style will defeat him too. It will send his hero Silva back down to the Middleweight division where he belongs. Great fighter, but he can't bang with the like's of Liddel, Rampage, Griffin or the elusive Machida.
As much as I love and respect Anderson Silva as a fighter, Forrest Griffin will kick his ****ing ass! Are you kidding me, that would be an old fashion pecker-wood ass wOOPIN!!! Just like Rampage. Could Silva beat Quinton? No way bro's, not enough knock out power. Bet on it!
I pray that they match Silva up against Griffin. I am sure we will be able to bet on it. Machida? He will give more trouble to the light-heavyweights than Anderson Silva will. Silva is great in the clinch, but many of these fighters are at the top of their game in the clinch in the 205 weight division. Silva is great at 185, but yet has proved himself at 205. He could too, it just remains to be seen. The guy is a stud and I love his game, so don't misundertand. It's a weight class issue with me.
Fedor? Other than Randy, I don't really see who in the UFC right now that could match up and beat him. Maybe Chuck, Wanderlei or Quinton? Could Griffin? I don't really know. I would be behind Forrest though. I have nothing but respect for Fedor as a fighter. Silva is not a test for him. Wanderlai, Chuck or Rampage would all get battered by Fedor. They are simply too small to be going into the heavyweight division.
Fedor will also defeat Randy and in quick fashion too. Randy is poorer in every single department.
Secondly, Fedor made Tim look like a can. NObody has managed to mangle him like that before.
As for Anderson at 205-I think he will do ok. He certainly will not clean out the division as he has done at 185 for the reason that he is too small. However, I'd take him on the betting against anyone at 205 except Machida who would out point him.

I tell you who IS a class act from the classic age of UFC........Dan Severn. I met Dan when he put on an MMA tournament in our area, and he told me that he and his partner had a LEO training course if I was interested. Well, I set the instructor course up for two days and he was supposed to be there, but a huge snow storm came up and he and his partner were stranded at the airport.
So Dan calls me and says he can't make it today and he's sorry, but he's flying down in the afternoon anyway. He says he's terribly sorry about the situation and what he'll do instead is condense the class in to 1 day, stay as long as he needs to get the material in, and it'll all be FREE! In fact, he said to call around to other agencies and as many folks as want to attend can do so for free.
So Dan comes down, spends the day showing us some pretty damn good ground combatives, telling us stories about wrestling and the UFC and the guys in it, and doesn't charge us a DIME! We bought him and his partner diner and bought some T-shirts and DVD's off of him, that's IT! Class act Dan Severn, HELLUVA a guy!

Anderson Sylvia on the other hand, is the greatest p4p fighter of all time. A classact to boot. Fedor may not be #1.....but he's sure as hell ahead of #2. Fedor's record speaks for itself. He's 28-1 with a who's who list of heavyweights, and the one loss he has was from 2000 against Tsuyoshi Kohsaka from a ref stoppage for a cut caused by an elbow that wasn't legal for Kohsaka to have thrown.....and Fedor wasn't beat in the fight, the ref stopped the fight because of the blood. Fedor then came back and mangled Kohsaka.
Look at this and tell me this fight should have been stopped......http://crackle.com/c/Sports/Emelianenko_Fedor_vs_Kohsaka_Tsuyoshi/2050441
So if Fedor isn't #1, I want to know who the hell IS! There's not a heavyweight fighting right now who can carry Fedor's jock strap. Sylvia lasted a whole 36 seconds! It doesn't matter whether he's coming off wins, loses or ties he lost that fight straight up. It wasn't even lucky punches, Fedor just waded in and cleaned his CLOCK!
Fedor may get beat someday.....but it'll probably be because he's going to have to GET OLD eventually! :))

Sylvia has a broken nose.
Also it is a fallacy to claim that Fedor has not fought anyone good in the last 3 years. He fought Cro Cop in 2005. He has also fought Mark Hunt who is a massive heavyweight with some excellent K-1 skillls. He has now destroyed Tim Sylvia.
I fail to see who is able to challenge Fedor. Nog has already been soundly beaten twice by him. If it wasn't for Nog's brick of a head he surely would have been knocked out with that ground and pound.
Perhaps a striker could catch Fedor on the chin-which whilst hardly paper, is not granite either.
Arlovski and Barnett are the two remaining heavyweights to challenge Fedor. Randy also-but I can not see it occuring.

Josh Barnett would be more competative, but I still don't see him pulling it off.....Randy Couture slapped him around back in the day.
Of course Barnett is arguably a far better fighter today than when Randy beat him. He still couldn't ever manage to get past Cro-Cop, losing in all three times they fought. He's lost to Mirko and he's lost to Nog. Josh Barnett DID beat Fedor's brother Aleksander in 2006.
I would like to see a Fedor/Josh Barnett fight.....I can't believe that's not already happened, they've been fighting in the same circles .....but i'm betting Barnett will be Fedor's next fight after he KO'd Pedro Rizzo.
Speaking of Barnett and Rizzo, that 2nd round KO is payback for Rizzo KO'ing Barnett in the 2nd round of their first fight in 2001.

Tim sylvia has been at the end of his career for sometime now. His last 6 fights prove that. The only reason he was rated so high in the UFC and had the belt is a testament of the weak HW division within the UFC. Sylvia was and has always been overrated. Fedor beating him isn't a testament to Fedors greatness, its a testament to Sylvias weakness.
