Did you have the show?

Yankee in NC

That would be cool to me! Actually 85 would be about perfect.

I prefer my evenings a little cooler than that, otherwise you can't really tell a difference with the hot tub.

Kim7

Man, I miss my hot tub, well my mom's hot tub. When I spent the summer with her in Louisiana a few years ago I lived in that thing, I actually killed my cell phone because of it. I kept leaning over the edge to check the phone to see what time it was, and gravity did it's thing and watered dripped all over the phone... it died. RIP old cell phone.

Oh my gosh I get to house sit/animal sit for some people starting tomorrow and they're going to be gone for like a week!! They have a swimming pool and said I could bring my friends over so long as we don't leave a mess (which we won't - I mean, who in their right minds leaves full beer bottles?? ;) ). I'm going to be gone pretty much all day swimming and trying to get a tan, so y'all won't see me around much unless I use their computer.

I got my tattoo! I'm so excited about it! My mom told me I could if I wanted and I was old enough to make those decisions on my own. It's a moon with three stars with a light blue shading, the stars are yellow, the moon is a lavender, but when we got done the guy said he really liked it and thought it was cool but then freaked out and was like, "it's too light, come back in two weeks when it's healed and there's no blood and we'll add some black or... something, it needs something but I can't do anything right now because of the blood." My friend went with for moral support and said she really really likes it and thinks it's pretty, but I agree with the guy, it is way too light right now.

 I don't think I'm brave enough

It really wasn't that bad, I had a friend go with me and hold my hand. The outline felt like a catch scratch or taking a sewing needle and scratching your self, and the shading burnt a little more because the shading needles are actually multiple needles and that's what hurt. But what hurt the worst was when they were right over bone, like right over spine. But I didn't cry or anything it wasn't that bad.

That's cool. Whatever butters your muffin. I just know a few ladies who got tattoos when they were young, sexy and single. Everything was nice and tight and they looked good. Now, they are Mothers, everything on them has dropped a few inches and they wish they had never gotten the tats. Not that some of them don't still look good, but they wonder about their kids asking them one day, "Mommy why do you have a picture of Minnie Mouse on your ass?"

:eh: I really don't understand the whole tatoo thing.

Sorry. I know I'm random -but I've been reading and holding my tongue all this while.

IMO, tatoos not only fade (and colors are best vibrant), but they look dirty. :shifty: I draw on various body parts every now and then at night when talking to Sissy just before bed -assuming I have a pen and no paper to draw on. I just get bored...or something. Anyway, it drives me nuts, though, for the next three or so days it takes to scrub off the ink from my skin -and all the while, I sit there wondering why I doodled on my leg or tummy in the first place... -But seriously, I can't imagine how freaked out I'd be if I couldn't get the ink off my skin. Even when I was little and used to get the stick-on tatoos, 2-3 hours after putting it on, I was at the sink trying to scrub it off.

Did you want it that short?

I ask this b/c of a terrible tragedy that occured to me...when I went to get my hair TRIMMED about 2 months ago. I've been TRYING to grow it down to my waist while curly. (That means straight/brushed out, it'd probably be about mid-bum.) I had 3-4 inches left to go and.......my mom INSISTED that I get it trimmed.

It did sort of need it... But I already knew what was going to happen. I said specifically, "No more than 2 inches." My hair dresser said ok and promptly cut off 4-5 inches. -And while sitting in that chair, it's not like you can really tell how much is getting chopped...

It's still not as long as I had it 2 months ago.:(( I can hardly tie it in a bun atop my head, but when it was first done, it kept falling in the shower, so I suppose it's better now... It still makes me angry, though.

That's why I stopped going to hair dressers. To me, "trim" means an inch or less. They seem to enjoy hacking it off. My hair finally grew down to the middle of my back. It grows very slowly. It took me about 7 years to get it this long and no one is chopping it off.

I could tell one or two horror stories about the times I've let someone else touch my hair. One day I wanted "highlights". Just a little lightening up for the summer. My entire head of hair got bleached completely white! This was a few years ago, and I was not near as good w/ confrontation as I am now, so I just left the salon w/out saying anything. I think the girl could tell I was upset b/c I literally didn't say anything. One way or the other. I came home, and my husband thought I was wearing a wig. He helped talk me through it and the next day I was able to go back and tell her how unhappy I was and she "fixed" it...but that was still so damaging to my hair! ugh.

Yeah, me too... Well, my hair grows pretty fast until it reaches a certain point, then it slows down significantly. (Not sure why.) But instead of me reaching my goal around August, it'll probably be closer to December... if even. :frown:

And I would trim my own hair...if I didn't have layers. Of course, for the "layers" she put in, I could have just cut it all the same length and no one would have known the difference. Still, I can't exactly complain b/c she goes to my church and has had/is going through a lot of trials in life. Tomorrow my daughter and I are going for a day of pampering. It's for her birthday, which was actually July 2. (little trivia: in a non-leap year, July 2 is the middle day of the year) Anyway, we are going for massages, manicures, spa-pedicures and then make-up make overs. YAY! (she's excited!)

I had a friend who would always lie about her age...however, her kids kept getting older. Her mom told her once that she was really going to have to quit lying about her age, b/c the older her kids became, the worse it made her look. (teenage mother and all) My friend said she really didn't have a problem with that. She'd rather look like a loose teenager than an old lady!! :))

Well, I don't really use any beauty products at all. I use deodorant and hair gel. That's just about it. :)) Actually, the woman that used to do my hair was always trying to sell me their salon hair gel. I said "I'm a guy. I but the biggest thing of hair gel I can for under $2." She wasn't amused. :))

OK folks, prepare yourselves, you're about to meet a person who comes out of hiding VERY rarely....................Serious ALBOB.

Breast augmentation can be VERY productive. I have two friends and one co-worker that have all had it done. I hesitate to say they've become better people, but their lives have improved greatly because their self-esteem is so much greater. True, we shouldn't judge ourselves based purely on physical beauty, but how we see ourselves plays a big role in how we portray ourselves to others. In the cases of my friends and co-worker, the operations were successful, physically AND mentally.

Now, a highschool aged young woman should NOT be allowed to do this. (I won't say never because there can be extenuating circumstances.) The reason is maturity. Learning how to deal with other people and how they perceive you is part of the growing up process. I can't set a specific date on when that process is complete, but it sure as Hell isn't right out of high school. Once you reach adulthood, if you've made every effort to overcome a specific "shortcoming" and you can make a reasoned decision, I don't have a problem with it. I was 25 when I had my nose done. It had been broken three times and was completely blocked. When they fixed the deviated Septum I asked them to "take a bit off the top" too. I've never lacked self-conficdence, but I do feel better about my physical appearance and am glad I had it done.

OK, now back to Goofball ALBOB.;)

I agree also. That's why I brought it up. There really is no right answer to this one. On the one hand I hate that some people feel the need to "change" what God has made. But on the other hand, when someone does feel good about themselves they do walk a bit taller, stand a bit straighter. I wish people did not put so much emphasis on physical appearance, but we do. When my son and I were discussing this he asked, "why even wear make-up?" Obviously, I feel I look better w/ make-up on...so most of the time when I'm going out, I wear it. I also get treated by others better when I look better. Am I being treated better b/c I look better? or am I a bit more confidence and that is radiating out of me and therefore others treat me better? hmmm. It is a personal decision. However, if it were my daughter I would try to talk her out of it. But kids don't always listen, now do they?

My take on it for myself: when I was young, I probably could have used breast augmentation, but couldn't afford it. Now that I can afford it, I'll be dipped if I'm spending my money on my chest. I'm taking a vacation!! But that is just me.

I have a friend who is a teeny, tiny petite woman and does in fact have BIG God-given BOOBS (I said it too! :)) ) Anyway, for the most part, I think she and her husband like her boobs, but they are definitely a nuisance in many ways.
The only time I have ever wanted to be a bit bigger is sometimes in a swimming suit. Otherwise, I am perfectly happy. And more importantly, my honey is happy!! I've actually asked for surgery (when I was younger) and he said, "NO!"

Hey, it's summer, go ahead and go short. I am a fan of short short hair in the summer because my car has t-tops and it's just easier to go with short hair. There is nothing worse than having to have like 20 bobby pins in your hair just to keep it in place when the t's are out.

Cowgirlup, why aren't you going through, "what am I going to wear?" Lord, knows it takes us girls all week to pick out an outfit for the evening, then we prance out to our men and ask "How do I look?" and if they don't answer fast enough, we say "You don't like it," we run back and spend another 4 hours trying to find something else. Then there's the make-up, the mascara tango, the hair do, etc. After all that, we're late for the party. We blame the men for that.

This explains what I'm doing wrong. My hair is wash and go...I throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt...make-up takes maybe 10 minutes. And my husband already knows that no matter what I look like the answer is always, "You look beautiful, tootse." (that's what he calls me)

one thing I have is good nails. while most women are getting "fake" nails or trying to grow their own, I get mine cut off. I get a manicure usually every two weeks and ask them to cut my nails completely off b/c after only two weeks they are so long.

Hey gals! Rememeber the jerky ex boyfriend I mentioned? (Oh and did I mention that he raped me?) Well, this one is for him and for all the jerks we ladies have ever met!

"I Will Survive"

At first I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
Oh as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive (hey-hey)

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
and now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I

Here's a song that I like by George Strait. It reminds me of when I divorced my first husband. Boy, did I have a great time getting my life back together!

She Let Herself Go

He wondered how she'd take it when he said goodbye.
Thought she might do some cryin': lose some sleep at night.
But he had no idea, when he hit the road,
That without him in her life, she'd let herself go.

Let herself go on a singles cruise,
To Vegas once, then to Honolulu.
Let herself go to New York City:
A week at the Spa; came back knocked-out pretty.
When he said he didn't love her no more,
She let herself go.

She poured her heart an' soul into their three-bedroom ranch.
Spent her days raisin' babies, ironin' his pants.
Came home one day from the grocery store and found his note,
And without him there to stop her, she let herself go.

Let herself go on her first blind-date:
Had the time of her life with some friends at the lake.
Let herself go, buy a brand new car,
Drove down to the beach he always said was too far.
Sand sure felt good between her toes:

She let herself go on a singles cruise,
To Vegas once, then to Honolulu.
Let herself go to New York City:
A week at the Spa; came back knocked-out pretty.
When he said he didn't love her no more,
She let herself go.

To Vegas once: Honolulu, New York City.
Came back knocked-out pretty

Just be careful. If you're doing it yourself and buying a box of hair coloring at the store, find the shade of brown you like, then pick the dye that's 2 shades lighter. (Trust me. I've been dyeing for years now and learned from experience.) Hair dye always turns out much darker than the picture on the box shows and doesn't look natural.
