Now there's a debate I would love to see. Sean should go on Real time in the lions pit so to speak. It would be a show you should tape for sure

Gimmie Maher and the points.
Not that I like him more, but Sean really isn't that good when he's not the one framing the questions.

Sean would own Maher. Bill is a bitter old comic who wasn't all that funny and he's not that much smarter or funnier now.

hate to hi-jack this thread but the debate I want to see is Al Sharpton and Don King debate on whether the republican or the democrats are better for the blacks in America. I head Don King was that Bush is a great President for black America.
The debate could be on BET and could be moderated by Juan Williams of NPR.

You may not appreciate his humor but he knows his stuff. If hannity came on Real Time he would get trounced.

Maher interviewed Ann Coulter via video link last year. Maybe Sean could do it that way.

Better yet, replace Colmes with Carville.

Maher always stacks his panel with libs. He would put that black guy that does the "Boondocks" cartoon and Alec Baldwin on his either side of Sean and they would start in and not let Hannity get in a word. There would be a better chance for a fair debate if Colmes came on Sean's show.

I've seen O'Reilly go one-on-one with Maher many times. I've never seen Hannity go on anyone else's show though.

You're selling Sean a little short, don't you think? Besides, Maher makes no secret about who his friends are, or politics, and he's had plenty of very conservative guests. He also encourages conservatives to be a part of his studio audience. Needless to say, any conservative who agrees to be part of his show needs to have some backbone.

I have a feeling the "debate" would involved talking over each other most of the time. Very little would be accomplished.

You are right about Maher, but Tom Pain and leftwingcommietraitor are right too. Hannity is not a good debater. He often gets hung up on peripheral details and after starting to make a good point he usually fails to drive it home. Maher may be full of himself and BS, but he is very good at debate.

Bill Maher debates conservatives on every show and his show never degenerates to a shouting match the way Hannity and Colmes does every episode.

Bill Maher debates conservatives on every show and his show never degenerates to a shouting match the way Hannity and Colmes does every episode. It wasn't that way when he "moderated" PI, after it moved to ABC.
Then, he ran the "three lefties gang up on the righty" show, and did little to nothing while the three piled onto the one.

Maher stacks his panel with liberals and his audience is overwhelmingly leftist. That said, he's not a terrible debater. He's said some awful things, but he isn't necessarily a coward.

His panal is typically 1 left 1 right and 1 idiot celebrity. His audience is liberal usually but that isnt what he wants. He offers to bus in righties to fill the seats all the time and frequently tells the crowd to shut up when they get to uppity on stupid things.

I had a debate on this issue tonite at the bar. We were all in agreement (yes right here in Texas)that either one would own in his/her own home field advantage. Unfortunately I would have to side with others above Hannity is not very good when the questions are not framed by Hannity himself which I think is why Sean chooses not to appear on any "Away" teams shows. Sean prefers the safety and security of being on his home team turf such as his radio show, or the safety of that other cable news opinion show Hannity and "Some other Guy Colmes". Hannity would surely accelerate his credibility by going on other shows as a guest no doubt.

Bill Maher, in my opinion, is simply a media prostitute - using his wit, intelligence, and gifts to encourage the degeneration of our citizens from self reliance into government dependence.
There is no doubt that Bill is very good a what he does, I simply find his message and the impact of his discussions to be an encouragement for people, in general, to place blame on someone or something outside of themselves for any/all circumstances they find uncomfortable. In so doing, the energy and investigative power to learn and gain wisdom is routinely spent in demonizing the person/place/thing that is selected to be demonized.
Therefore, the net impact of Maher's show/views on his audience is to "dumb them down". The closed minded views and attitudes displayed on his show require that both the audience and panel participants alike submit themselves for an obligatory labotomy prior to "show-time".
I find both his show and his views appalling, and I used to like him and still appreciate his humor. I simply cannot admire his encouragement of such leftest views/attitudes that entrap human beings in everlasting ignorance - "contempt prior to investigation".

Bill Maher is an entertainment show, I surely believe it. I use to think he did want an honest discussion, and although he admits who he is and what his opinion is I find he the way he puts on his guests is to embarass and shout down those who are independent or lead conservative. Most of the time he'll have one guest who is towards the right, but have three left leaning individuals at the table as well. Why such inbalance? For entertainment.

John Stewart would be much kinder.
Jon Stewart (he omits the "h") does an excellent job interviewing people with whom he has vast political differences.
He is always polite and phrases questions in a way that gives the interviewee an opportunity to respond.
He does not use the "Do You Still Beat Your Wife" technique of interrogations used by some Conservative hosts.
