He was halfway up the mountian when we got a call on an ATV accident. Guy decided to leave a facial impression on a tree at 30mph.

We called him on the phone told him Ground crews were on the way, and we also had a helecopter on the way. His language was rather colorful . . . state wide was the only way the helicopter could contact the ground crews for a landing zone.

He got the channel fixed just as the helicopter got into the area.

The thunder was SO loud it shook my windows!!!!

I heard 2 trees were struck by lightning in Fulton park and came down.

The lightning was brighter than the morning sky.

Our radio techs are "on call" although I do tend to keep my cell phone on as the senior tech. Something that simple the on-call tech should have handled.

Actually, something that simple shouldn't have happened because you should have had a backup system in place in case of a primary failure. If nothing else, having a backup system makes it easier to perform maintenance because customers are more willing to give up a channel when they have a backup system they can use.

I find failures all the time that the users don't notice because the system is sort of self-healing and hides problems from dispatchers until it's got no more tricks left to pull and then it's REAAALLLY broken. Then it's panic time so I do need to take it away and shake it down about once a week whether they like it or not. Besides, if nobody uses the backups eventually nobody remembers how they work.

I was about 1 mile from work when the heavy rain started .I didnt have an umbrella but I had a towel .I put it over my head when I got out of my car.My head was dry but my arms were soaking wet
Half the people in my office were either 2 hours late or just gave up and turned around.The echoing of the thunder inside the buiding sounded like symbols
I also got stuck in the elevatoir for about 30 seconds.I think everyone onLong Island went home early or gave up because the roads were empty on the way home at 4
