Thanks Stone.
I'll try to contact some of the people on their vendor's list and see if they're
interested. Can't hurt and just might be a really big help. I appreciate you folks
helping me out here. Can't thank y'all enough.

That's what friends are for nuny~ ...friends and fellow Americans ;)

Also if you need anything done down here in California that I can help you with... let me know~

Don't really have the cash left for that sort of thing.
Right now it's just getting started and I'm simply sort
of passing the word as best I can.
I've got some in some of the local shops and watering holes
in my state, but so far only one guy that's out of state.
I only officially started up as a company on May 7th, so I
think it's moving along fairly well.
As more of them move I'll start building an advertising budget.
We basically did this out of our back pockets.
No real financing to speak of.
The only thing I did was to put up my bike for collateral for
a line of credit. Other than that, it's been back pocket all the way.

One thing the internet has been useful for...inexpensive access to mass markets. It let's "homespun" ideas have a place in the sun without having to burn through the life savings of you and your extended family to find out if an idea can succeed.

The downside is that it has generated a trend called "the long tail." Which means you spend very little but give away a lot for a long time...until it goes viral. Or at least finds a market niche.

Still, it offers one the opportunity to take acceptable risks. In another era, ideas like yours either got no advertising, or were sold cheaply to someone with the wherewithal to produce them. A bit of patience and some confidence in the idea might pay off well. And if doesn't...

at least you haven't spent the baby's whiskey money.

Yes that is unfortunate about the perception people have of the South... but don't worry about it ..its them that have the true problem.

Well you know ............Harley Davidson, Xyience and a host of other companies use a woman to sell the merchandise...
Just a thought... you know?

But you may not want to go that route with a woman selling it ..
Just present it from a mans point of view and that would work too :)

LOL, you have no idea.......ROFL......
Did you see the gal with the flourescent green shirt on
in the background of the video ?
That's my wife.
I don't really want a hundred thousand horny bikers
hunting up pictures of her on the internet.

Startups are always slow K.
I honestly don't expect this thing to take off for
about a year.
We've been in business for about 3 full months and
have moved about 350 of them or so.
The only reason I brought it up here is because I wanted
to know from people I trust whether or not these things
would be marketable in the northern colder areas of the
country for other things than just mc's and atv's.
Right now, figuring out "how" to market them is the
tough part. After people see them, they pretty much
sell themselves if they're presented properly.
I do need to do a better youtube commercial though.
That one makes us look like dumb redneck hicks.
While that is true enough, it's not really the business
impression you want to leave someone with when they
first see your product demonstrated.
If you know what I mean......LOL
We just convinced everyone out there that their preconceived
notions of southerners was dead on accurate.
Funny, but not very professional.......ah well, we do what we
can.

lol...

The sun is up and alive for Stone and nuny~ .....
My sun rise is behind the Sierra Nevada Mountains....that I will see in about 2 hours :)

Lucky you, it must be beautiful! Yes, here, the sun is up, but it is being clouded over by giant mosquitos the size of copters! We've had endless rain, and now we're in a heatwave, and all those bugs are hungry!

I'm off to walk my moose-dogs. I should buy a saddle so I can have them walk me, lol, it's like walking two meese, (I know, it is "moose"). But I do endearingly call them my "meese".

Have a great day everyone (rest of the early morning)! I'm off to do some of my "to do's"!

Okay then, I asked for advice and I'm going to take it.
I'll have a couple of hundred made about 6 ft long and
see if they move. What the hell, in for a penny in for a pound, right?

Daytona Bike rally
Sturgis
Helen, Georgia, all spring and summer, bike heaven
Black Hills, any where, Needles highway in particular

Im sure there are lots of great bike gathering places, wherever there are beautiful rides and a place to stop nearby for brew....

We had that very thing happen, but we could not get the bike charged with the reg jumpers, ugh. so, I had to help push the harley up a little ramp onto the trailer.. omg, that beast started to roll back at the top of the ramp... Im an old lady, omg.. whew, we managed to find the muscle to make it happen.
Im imagining life now, had we had an easier way to connect it. . The car charger connectors we had were just not suited to the location and arrangement of the bike's battery.
Good luck with that nunya. I can appreciate it very well, and did any one throw in snowmobiles?
capitalist pig, may you grow fat!

Mr. M

Ok ... now that Ive read that and took a deepbreath~ .. you know me ...I can't help it .. lol..

Lets see ..what do I like about that era....
The decor...the iron, tapestries..castles...the clothes...the language...the chivalry... knights.....it would probably be easier if I told you what I don't like about it ..which would be ~ ... not one thing. Well maybe that I was not born in that era ..and that would be about it.

I'm not particularly fond of the Borgia's...or wouldn't be in historical context. But from the future looking back, even the worst of the Renaissance (okay, okay, I'm not all that fond of the liturgical forms and the instrumental music of the recorder either) makes for interesting study.

And any era that produces Shakespeare can't be all bad...

Definitely.
I have a watch that says "water resistant to 300 meters" on it.
I hate to tell them this, but if I'm at 300 meters depth, the last
thing I'm going to be worried about is if my watch still works.
Actually, I figure at that point I'll be fish food and beyond caring.
So I have no idea why they'd put that on a watch.
Astonishing what people will do isn't it ?

lol...

I'm good with water resistant to thirty feet.

I wonder if they'll replace the watch if it leaks at two hundred and fifty meters?

I'm just guessing they don't get all that many returns,

Either you're in it...or you'll get a visit from them. You'll recognize them by the muffled knock at the door.

You only get sunblock if you're the right age and in good health. Otherwise they have a pill that works every bit as well for preventing sunburn.

But you'll have to stand in line for either.

No indoor plumbing, a bath every six months (if you need one), fleas everywhere, horse and cow **** on every street (no sidewalks), average life span of 35 years. Yeah, a whole lot of stuff to love about that era.

When I wa growing up we did not have indoor plumbing, no electrcity, one of my jobs was to cut the fire wood for cooking and cloths washing. Another job, which I loved, was hunting for food for the table.

My dad delivered ice for the "ice boxes" and I got to chop the ice into 5 and 10 pound blocks. The ice was delivered to the Ice House in "logs" that were and 2 foot by 2 foot and 15 feet long. I learned how to use a saw and ice pick every early in life.

Funny thing, that old bike that we cranked, it looked extremely familiar.
So I did some digging and got a copy of an old Texas title I had on the

Turns out that project bike he'd bought was the exact same one.

Mr. M
August 17th, 2009, 9:22 am
That's pretty much our thinking on this M.
If we're patient, it can't lose.
The biggest cost was the lawyers and getting the patent filed.
Now that that's done, we simply go slowly, take our time,
get the word out the best that we can and let nature take
it's course.
It's a winner, but people need to know it's out there.
After that, I can retire from the oil patch and never have
to get out on the water again if I don't want to.
At least, that's the plan......
If it doesn't happen, then I simply pay the bank note,
we keep it small and sell to whoever comes along and
make some small additional income while helping out
people with a useful product.
Either way, we win.
I kind of like that.

It looks to me like you've done everything right. Identified a market. Patented a product. Produced a professional website. Kept costs and inventory low. Minimized debt service and haven't sold your soul to venture capitalists.

Low risk. Good potential for return. And the ability to be patient while building a market--something that's hard to do if you quit your day job and need to find enough money to make the mare go.

I'm sure you've thought of it, but make sure the partnership arrangement you have is as clear and unambiguous as possible (which is never clear and unambiguous enough). These things have a way of being friendly right up until the patent sells to XYZ manufacturing for a nice chunk of change.

And in the lighted palace near

We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.
SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of 'ot gravel, work twenty hour day at mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would thrash us to sleep with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!
THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:
Well, of course, we had it tough. We used to 'ave to get up out of shoebox at twelve o'clock at night and lick road clean wit' tongue. We had two bits of cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at mill for sixpence every four years, and when we got home our Dad would slice us in two wit' bread knife.
FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:
Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.
FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:
And you try and tell the young people of today that ..... they won't believe you.

How true that is. My grandkids think I am kidding them when I tell them I had to do my home work by lamp light, if we could afford to buy the fuel. And getting up at 4:30 am to milk the cows and put them out to pasture, and then feed the chickens and fill their water containers when it was my turn to do morning chores. My hands hurt just thinking about that.

Mr. M

I have fond memories, j, of the old ice house down the hill from my grandparents home. We used to "sneak" in and cool off when the summer sun was high. The old iceman knew we were there and would let us have ice chips to suck on.

How he survived in a small town in the 1960's is beyond me, but he and his ice house are both gone now.

And my refrigerator dispenses ice through the door.

Recognizing that those were hard times, we have lost something as they have passed into a fading oral history.

In those times, things were done with "others" in mind. Perhaps those "others" were the chickens at feeding time, or cows that needed milked. Selfish wants got put on the back burner and the needs of something other than oneself were taken into account; more than that--they had to be taken into account.

Today we sit behind computers, manipulate data, crunch numbers. Speed is more important than, say, working with a piece of wood to see that the grain matches. Increased productivity has become the mantra of modern America, an entire economy depends on it.

Lost along the way is our engagement with the needs and nature of things other than ourselves.

The Ice House (that was its name) was still there the last time I visited in 2003. Sitting there beside the rail road tracks, still painted white. I think someone takes care of the place. And the town had about 500 residents, about half of which could afford the $1.00 for twice weekly ice delivery.

Ice day was almost a holiday in town. Everyone who was not at work, and I do mean everyone, came down to help unload the train car. Everyone who came down got a 5 pound block of ice and had a good cold drink with their dinner.

The best way to avoid getting seasick is stand at the back of the boat and look at the horizion. That will even cure the sickness if you already have a case.
I ran a charter boat on Lake Michigan for 5 years, and took many people, six at a time, fishing. Wonderful experience. Esp at night. A lot of people don't like night fishing on the big lake, but I did.

That's a good way to run your boat up on the rocks. ;)

Okay. There's something in this I'm not sure you're of. But, I'll try to answer. I didn't hang him, I divorced him, but not for his hangers. After divorce, I suppose he hung as he hung before, always with measurement. I continued to hang my hangers freely, as I've always done.

As for swinging? Even when married, he did swing, but I didn't. I didn't know he swung until after I divorced him. If I knew he swung while we were married, I would have hung him for swinging, but not for his hangers.

But you didn't answer... Was he hung or not? :shifty:

You never heard of radar and depth sounders? Plus I fished this area of Lake Michigan for 20 years prior to getting my charter license. :)

And at this point Lake Michigan is 110 miles wide as well as being over 700 miles long with an average depth of over 100 feet. If I can't go that without running up on the rocks I shouldn't be on the water.

Silly, I didn't mean me. The only time I was seasick was on a troop ship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on Thanksgiving Day. I lost my cool in a 10 gallon container of mashed potatos. I think the Navy personnel just scooped it out and fed the rest to the other Marines. I never did trust Navy food after that. :shhh:

There probably was not much difference between the two anyway...

I've never been sea sick, but have come close. Back when I was in college I took an Oceanography class that included a field trip out into the Gulf of Alaska on the University's research vessel. I was reading temperatures on a string of retrieved Nansen bottles, which were racked up on the wall in the forward companion way between sides of the ship. The seas were quit rough and the ship was pitching and rolling 25-30 degrees side to side. The room was very warm and I had to bend over head down to read the thermometers through the anti-parallax eyepiece. I was about one thermometer short of losing it when I finished my job and went out the hatch into the cool air on deck. Saved!

There was only two of us in the class group that did not get sick, I and the professor. Everybody else spent most of the time in their racks or praying in the head. ;)

LOL! I don't know. Patrick Kennedy (RI) may HAVE to have someone drive him. I think he lost his license from the accident he had because he took some (ahem) sleeping pill and got into a fender bender (in DC I think?). What you need is 3 or 4 fingers of good bourbon over ice to knock out that cold.

It is the tired and true kill or cure method of medicine. ;)

Some one gave me honest to goodness hill moonshine one time to kill a cold.

I lost 4 days.

But hell's bells that can happen with Nyquil too.

My dog and my husband still loved me.:hug:Worked like a charm.

Now that tequila moment in the late 60's not so much with that cold.

I vaguely remember being in LA at the opening of Space Oddessy: 2001 and something to do with Cuervo and cheap wine I think it was called Bali Red or something and it came in a jug.

That was not a good experience, lol.

Man I'd take all of it you can spare. We're in a pretty severe drought locally here.

No, we can't spare any. We had a very dry spring and summer through July. We were at about 2/3 of normal precipitation until the first week in August and are still more than 20% below normal in spite of it raining all month. Technically we live in a desert... about 10.5 inches annual precip including water content of snow. If it was not cold here for 8 months, we would be a desert. As it is though, there is no shortage of water either for nature or for man.

Among all of the messages I have been reading in these groups I find minimal recommended action. No one that is willing to climb the steeple and hang out the lanterns. We mumble, grumble complain about the weather and some even set forth some very will considered words, but then what? They will ignore the tea parties and marches. Dictators have taken power over far more noise that what is now being heard. As we watch the president move around as far from DC as possible who’s watching what the others are doing back in the dark halls of government? Do we just go back to our overstuff chairs to watch our heroes complain on TV. So to start I say tonight, not tomorrow which never comes, we must all put pen to paper, forget email, and write our elected officials. It can be short such as “stop it or I will vote for anyone but you.” And then mail it. Even more important tell at least two friend that you sent your letters and convince them to do the same. Stay after them to do it. Point out they also must get two other to write. Have a lunch letter writing party. Scare them that if they don’t write they can't complain anymore. This can be the greatest mail campaign ever seen. If need be give them the stamps.

Think of this as a small individual step for America.

PS A paranoid person would see that when we are told every citizen needs to have a flu shot might mean that an epidemic will allow the president to declare marshal law to take power. Not that he now has enough unelected czars to do it.

All in all it is nothing short of a miracleSorry got side tracked doing some discussing of Texas politics and doing some medical research...

Great news. The slowing is to be expected from time to time. Remember I know very little of the details here, but with neuro traumas you will often see dramatic recovery over a short period as swelling/shock subsides, then it slows because of the very slow regrowth of nerual tissues.

Due to an injury I had lost about 75% of the feeling in my right arm. Got about 20% back within days, but it took ten years to get it all back, but indeed, it all came back eventually. There were some very frustrating times in PT and OT, but I just refused to accept the loss of the use of it.

25 years later the only thing you can tell is that I have limited range of motion, and the muscle structure over the shoulder looks considerably different than the right, but then hey, things ain't where they used to be! HA!

Yes prayer works and I now know why God directed my mouse to this site for the first time. You know we can do a lot of things here politically. Sorry got side tracked doing some discussing of Texas politics and doing some medical research...

HA!

That's encouraging cause one of his problems is his hands being numb. I love to read stuff like this man, thanks for posting that.

As I'm not all that fond of cats in the first place, it's good entertainment.
By the way, did you know that if you shoot a cat off the roof of your car
with a .357 he'll leave so fast he doesn't scratch the paint ?

Here's another one for you then.
Back in 2000 or so, my wife had a massive stroke.
The back left quarter of her brain is totally shot.
She was paralyzed for a long time, also couldn't speak.
It took better than a year for her to get some muscle control and speech back.
After a year of therapy ( in patient and out patient ) the insurance companies,
the doctors, the therapists, they all said that she was as good as she was
going to get. Still some minor paralysis on the left side, but able to hobble around.
Speak some, slowly, but not well.
She and I kept on working on it, together.
Now, it's 9 years later and the only way you'd know was if you listened
"very" closely and had known her before the stroke.
Some loss of fine motor skills in the right hand, but that's about it.
It takes time for neurological damage to heal and the neurons to reroute,
but they do it, and over time, with work and prayer, healing can happen.

That's encouraging cause one of his problems is his hands being numb. I love to read stuff like this man, thanks for posting that.if he has good mobility such as being able to direct them to the right place, his damage is specific to the periferal sensory nerves. That being the case I'd say the odds of an eventual full recovery are very strong because those are the nerves that tend to regrow the best over time. Right now just think of a bunch of little mechanics running around in there with jumper cables looking for the right terminals.

One of the very best things you could do for him therapy wise I'd suggest would be typing.

I had severe damage to my three top thorascic vertebrae, and ruptured the two discs between them in addition to basically ripping my left arm out of socket and spining it around about 400 degrees.

It took some time, but my only real problem today is that if I do a lot of heavy work, or repetitive motion such as typing with no support for my left elbow I get terrible spasm's between my spine and left shoulder blade.

Considering what I looked like when I first regained consciousness looking at the back side of my left elbow, with my arm wrapped around from behind my head, with six fragments in my shoulder, arm, neck, head and face; along with my left eye looking up my nose I'M PERFECT!

Never thought of Golf balls a lethal projectiles......

I made a pneumatic golfball mortar that launched around 250 balls at once. It had a 200 yard range.

You see I got annoyed at the bad aim of the golfers who played the course across the road from my house in Seattle, so I collected the balls that would ping off my domicile and I returned them in kind.
