What's the longest trip you've ever taken?
Maybe not the longest in terms of duration, but definately in terms of sheer boredom and wishing it would end...
I went on a road trip through Oklahoma and parts of Arkansas with my parents, grandmother and my aunt with a bad back, who smokes and complained the whole way that she needed to be in the front seat coz of said back and that she being older needed to be seated there (the fact that grandmother was along never entered into her equation). Me being a senior in highschool and 6'1" was made to sit in the middle of the backseat with my mom and grandmother...

I was never so bored in all my life. I couldnt read because my mother insisted on pointing out every single "point of interest" and didnt want me to miss one single vista or grove of trees or some old town we rolled through. I couldnt play music on my headset coz, i forgot batteries and mom wouldnt buy any for the same reasons I couldnt read my books.
Im glad its over...

About a year and a half after my wife and I were married we planned on taking a trip to Pensacola FL for Labor Day...she mentioned this to her parents and they invited themselves to tag along. I didn't like the idea at first but they said we could split the gas bill, they'd pay for the hotel, and we would just pay for our dining expenses...So I figured why not. My MIL is not the best person in the world to try to get along with, she was complaining the whole way down there about how uncomfortable she was in my car. At that time I had a 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 with great leg room and overstuffed leather seats that were very very comfortable...We get to the hotel to check in and they only give us a key for one room...I asked what the deal was with that...MIL explains that they only booked one room with double beds to conserve money...I tried to get another room but that wasn't successful because the hotel was booked for the weekend...the hotel room ac unit died the second day we were there...So between listening to my inlaws snore and dripping from sweat I got no sleep that weekend...then we couldn't even enjoy the beach because MIL doesn't like crowds...we spent maybe 2 hours total on the beach while we were there...then she bitched the whole way home...Upon dropping them off I informed them that we would never let them know when we were going on vacation again.

we were in Cozumel...supposed to go out on a dinner cruise, but it started raining. Instead we went to a nice restaurant where we literally ate a seven course meal. but at the head of the list, I'd have to put

"anything that involves creativity and/or problem solving"

closely followed by

"anything that I consider a meditative activity"

which for me includes, among other things:

- standing at the kitchen sink and washing dishes while staring out the kitchen window

- mowing the lawn

- painting a room

- wiring a house (when I worked as an electrician)

- driving cross-country

It might've been simpler for me to answer the question

but, now that I think about it,

I'd have a pretty long list for that one, too.

galadriel elven queen of the golden wood to learn of her wisdom

"Then Frodo offered to give the One Ring to Galadriel. Galadriel had long pondered what she might be able to accomplish if the Ring came into her possession. But she had grown wiser during her sojourn in Middle-earth, and she was able to reject the temptation of the Ring, for she understood that though she might begin with good intentions she would become a tyrant in the end.

"And now at last it comes. You will give me the Ring freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!"
She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore there issued a great light that illuminated her alone and left all else dark. She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measurement, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she let her hand fall, and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo! she was shrunken: a slender elf-woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad. "

"I pass the test," she said. "I will diminish, and go into the West and remain Galadriel."
