Most recently, the Rev. Al Sharpton, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, charged that a star white athlete never would have been prosecuted for the same crime.

Like Hayes, Sharpton has denounced images of dogfighting in popular black culture, and he signed a letter with Russell Simmons condemning the activity as ignorant and cruel.

But at the same time, Sharpton argued that the prosecution of Vick was overkill.

If the police caught Brett Favre (a white quarterback for the Green Bay Packers) running a dolphin-fighting unit out of his pool, where dolphins with spears attached to their foreheads fought each other, would they bust him? Of course not," Sharpton wrote Tuesday on his personal blog.

They would get his autograph, commend him on his tightly spiraled forward passes, then bet on one of his dolphins.

Of course it's true. OJ had two advantages that lead up to victory.

1. Money for an excellent team of attorney which effectively levels the playing field.
2. Blacks on the Jury that nullified the effects of racism.

Had a white man with the financial wherewithall to hire the same attorney find himself in a the same predicament with a white Jury I think the very same nullification would have happened. In a criminal case one only needs to establish a reasonable doubt and that's what the attorneys hammered on.

Awe heck ask a bevy of celebrities? 80 minutes in jail, but not in a cell, scott free? Foot ball players get arrested for beating their spouse and the spouse not filing charges all the time...it is very common. Seriously, though, have you ever seen a dolphin fight? I used to train them - ****ing intense. I had this one guy, middleweight, Flipper "The Irish Dandy" McFlipperson. Great potential, nasty left flipper, great snout. Developed a bit of a drinking problem though, and never reached his full potential. Sad story, really - last I heard, he got caught looking up whales' blowholes while rubbing himself against a sea lion. Tragic . . .
