I have a myspace page and think it's a fun way to network and meet like minded people. I notice that there is a Sean Hannity page but it isn't an official page done by Sean. I think especially because of the upcoming election, it would be nice to have a page that we could rally around and share information with each other. What do you all think? I love this forum, but there are no pics like on myspace and I'd love to see what you all look like.I think an official Sean Hannity myspace page is what the liberals need to see everyday.

I think that's a fabulous idea as long as it's not created or maintained by an OU fan. :) Friends don't let their friends cheer for the Sooners. ;) :))

That would be true for most youngsters. But in Oklahoma the kids have developed a high tolerance for extremely potent farts by the age of three or so... so it doesn't explain that pic.

I think myspace is a trap designed to get young people duped into supporting the most corrupt media outlet in global history. Every time you make or view a page, you're getting advertisers to pay its owner, who happens to be THE Rupert Murdoch. Everyone who is truly interested in resisting this menace's attempt at a media conglomerate should stop using myspace at whatever cost.
I detest Fox News, the New York Post and by extension, I despise Myspace. Not to mention, its coding sucks ass and the pages are designed accordingly.

I was surprised to discover that over 50% of MySpace users are 35+. MySpace has a reputation for being a kids' site. Teens make up a very small part of their demographic. Twenty-somethings are the largest single group. But even so, half of MySpace users are 'old farts' by most standards.
I've got a MySpace page but I no longer bother to check it. Boring, boring, blah...

More than half are 35 and up? Where did you get that from? I certainly believe you'll find 50-year-olds and maybe even an occasional AARP member, but again I'd like to know where that number comes from because it doesn't seem that way.

Most of the people i have on my page are at least over 35, some way older. I am 56 and there are a lot of people my age and older on myspace. I just ignore the ads. I have met some really nice people on myspace. It isn't just for young people any more.

When you get that Sooner MySpace page figured out make sure you post this pic... I just checked your profile and I see you're from Dallas. I should have known you were from Texas. I just went to the Freedom concert down there and I loved the concert, but was I ever lost. That whole metro Dallas area goes around in circles. The concert was awesome, but I've never been so turned around in my life. Beautiful area though and i saw some cool things.

Seriously, I wouldn't have thought the 35-54 crowd were that into myspace. If anything, I was thinking they'd flock to e-harmony or stuff like that...

I know. I'm just used to VFW lounges being the "friend" place for the 50-and-up crowd, and bingo night and the Old Country Buffet being the big 65-and-uppers hook-up spots.

I have a MySpace page and am almost 35. Most of my friends on there are people who I know from various forums I go to. Most of them are in their 20's and 30's, with a few older ones.

I think the 50's nowadays are like the 40's of years gone by. I am raising my one year old granddaughter, and love going to concerts and doing fun things. I have never been to a VFW center, and I think the last time I played BINGO was on vacation with my parents when i was young. I do enjoy myspace and also a website called EONS. EONS is mostly for 50+, but it's a very cool website.

How would they see it everyday? You have to add someone as a friend to have them show up on your page.

Myspace is old fart nostaligia where people can look up who they went to high school with and see who got knocked up, divorced, married or dead.
You can do the same with Facebook, but Facebook started out restricted to colleges and universities so you could only check up on the people who went to college. I believe that restriction is now taken off, but not in time to hit the social networking site peak.
For reference I graduated from high school in 1999. The number of people in my high school class of roughly 400 who have MySpace pages and identify themselves as coming from my high school class is 179. For Facebook that number is 26.
To hammer it in once more, of course MySpace is mostly old farts. The whole thing is NOSTALGIA. The teenie bopper punks see the friends they grew up with every day!

My kids have myspace accounts...they're in their early 20's, and most of their friends do too. They prefer, though, live journal and facebook. Almost all of my facebook friends are either my kids' friends or former students. I know far fewer adults who belong to facebook than myspace...but that's just my limited knowledge. Different people probably have different experiences.
BTW: I have NO "old days" friends on either. I attended my 30th high school reunion a few years ago and remembered why I hated high school. Nice people, but I prefer to select my friends based on interests, not geography. If I am feeling nostalgiac I do a google....if I were REALLY inclined to track down friends I'd go to that school reunion or whatever it's called site or my hometown's site: They have a bulletin board, reunion section, and email section according to graduation year.

My 40th reunion will be in 2009. I have only one woman that I knew in high school that i even keep in touch with. Last reunion I went to the same people that hung out in high school sat together. I'm not sure if I would invest the money to go to my 40th.

Yeah, reunions are a very awkward experience. I missed my 10th but heard about how strange it was to see people again. I guess a lot of people have their reasons for going to them. I have not found one yet except to see how much people have changed. The only problem is knowing if they are being genuine or not.

My tenth is coming up in another year. I'll have to fly to Oregon to go though. I think it will be great to go and see how I turned out better off than 85% of the folk I graduated with.
