A caretaker was fatally mauled by at least two dogs at the Brentwood home of actor Ving Rhames, who was out of the country filming a movie, police said today.
The man was not immediately identified, but Los Angeles Police Sgt. Lee Sands said he was in his early 40s and had worked for Rhames for two years. Police said they believed that the dogs belonged to the actor.
Best part of the story:
LAPD investigators said they would not rule out other possible causes of death, including a heart attack or other medical condition.
I know what they mean, but it just sounds funny. "Hmm...the victim has been torn limb from limb. There are bite marks covering him from head to toe. I'm thinking heart attack..."

The guy probably tripped and hit his head on a rock or something. It's not the pooches' fault they had to eat him when nobody else came by to feed them....

Good news (of sorts) for Ving --

Dogs probably didn't kill Ving Rhames' caretaker
New, 4:30 p.m. Coroner says bites and abrasions on the body of man who lived on Rhames' Brentwood property were most likely nonfatal. Exact cause of death not yet known.
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
A man who died at the home of action star Ving Rhames most likely did not die from bites from Rhames’ dogs, county coroner’s officials said Friday.
Jacob Adams, 40, was living on Rhames’ Brentwood property as a caretaker for the actor’s dogs when he was bitten Aug. 3, police said.
The medical examiner who conducted Adams’ autopsy Aug. 7 said the bite abrasions and lacerations on the man’s body were most likely nonfatal, said Capt. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
“We’re not saying the bites were definitely not the cause of death, though,” Winter told The Associated Press.
An exact cause of death was still unknown pending a toxicology report to be released in about six weeks, he said.
According to a preliminary coroner’s report, the dog bite marks on Adams’ body — which police officers found on Rhames’ front lawn — were around his arms and legs.I certainly hope the dogs were spared!! Now Ving can hire the investigative team of Simpson, Blake and Peterson to seach for the real killer!!

He gonna get railed in a civil suit. Not if the man died of natural causes.
Of course, I think people ought to start checking up on OJ Simpson's whereabouts around the time of death.

Right now, it is up in the air, but sources are saying that a Mr. Spector may be added to that killer legal defense team.

Right now, it is up in the air, but sources are saying that a Mr. Spector may be added to that killer legal defense team.Spector will be convicted. Although he could go down on involuntary manslaughter if it is offered as a necessarily related offense. Franklyu I think he was threatening Lana Clarkson with his gun and killed her accidently. The reason I offer this explanation is that he came out, seemingly in shock, telling his chauffer that he killed someone. That is not what a murderer does. Rich murderers call their lawyers, not their chauffers.

Come on.The man probably had a fatal heart attack and died, and the dogs took (non fatal) "nips" out of his carcass.
When people die and are planted in the ground, do you blame the spiders, worms, aunts, and bacteria for eating away at the body?

Even if that were the case (and it probably is)..you don't think ol' Ving is in a world of legal hurt?

Coroner: Dogs Didn't Kill Ving Rhames's Caretaker
FRIDAY JANUARY 18, 2008 05:20 PM EST
By Ken Lee
Ving Rhames's caretaker died due to a bad heart, the Los Angeles Department of Coroner concluded after a five-month investigation into an August incident at the actor's home.
Rhames's "dogs didn't kill Mr. Adams," said coroner spokesman Ed Winter. "He died because of a preexisting heart problem. The dog bites found on him were determined to be non-fatal."
The caretaker, Jacob Adams, 40, was found dead on the front lawn of the actor's Brentwood home on Aug. 3. Rhames was filming a movie in Bulgaria at the time.
It was initially reported that the actor's four dogs – three mastiffs and one bulldog – had bitten Adams to death.
However, on the day of the body's discovery, Capt. Matt Blake of the LAPD told PEOPLE that although Adams was "definitely mauled" by the dogs, "there [was] no solid evidence that they were the cause of death."
Two weeks later, Rhames released a statement, describing the incident as a "shocking and terrible tragedy."
"Jacob Adams was not just a devoted employee – he was also a dear friend," said the Mission: Impossible III star, 48. "I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to his family."
Rhames's dogs, which were initially quarantined by officials, have since been returned to the actor.
