Doin prety great Mel! Went Friday and got my motorcycle licence, it was a little tough. They allowed 20 points to be deducted and deducted 18 from me. Almost failed:)

Finally getting around to getting the boat going. Its been sitting for 4 years so its gonna take a little work.

Yes, helmet always. We parked the boat 4ya cause the water pump went out, just haven't bothered wiith it since. I'm looking forward to putting in some wakeboarding time in behind it when it comes out of the shop.

Sounds sweet :D Are you planning any long range trips or is it more for commute purposes? Fellow I work with takes a four week trip every other year on his bike (and I cannot for the life of me recall what it is)

Na, it isn't that bad. Like I said, I wouldn't want to take it on a long trip or anything but work to home is only about 10 miles. And yeah, I love the gas savings. It has pretty much paid for itself. I drive an F-150 that gets from around 10-15 mpg, costs about $75 a week in fuel. The bike costs around $15 a week to operate. With the payment and insurance I'm still saving about $20 a month, and I'm keeping milage off my truck. That's how I justified buying it anyway.

most of the fog's already burnt off, it's going to start getting hot and muggy again this week, mid 90's. at least we got a couple of days of good rain and cool weather, now back to summer:cool:

We had a great 4th. Went to a small-town county fair. It was priceless, and the kids enjoyed every minute of it.

Our whole weekend was fab. Two bbq's and I didn't gain an ounce! Fireworks, fellowship, great service on Sunday, more fellowship and two good hikes at the reservoir. Also spent time with my parents, which is a good thing these days.

LESSON LEARNED


Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten.

On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she moved all of the desks out of her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

Looking around, confused, they asked, 'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

''Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period.

Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Ttwenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they walked over to stand alongside the wall.

By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten.

On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she moved all of the desks out of her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

Looking around, confused, they asked, 'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

''Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period.

Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Ttwenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they walked over to stand alongside the wall.

By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

It cooled off this am!! Whew hoo! Cool air is so refreshing.

I like cold. I keep the ac at 70, the heat 67. I work mainly outside all day in the heat. When I walk into the house its like drinking a big gulp of ice water. Refreshing.

Optimum temps for me are 85 degrees in the day and 65 at night. And like Melinda, 60 would be cold to me.....

As a general rule they don't sting me, and we used to keep bees and get the honey, so bees don't bother me too much. But I was trying to get the poor little guy out of my car.......so at a stop light, I kind of flicked him which he didn't like. Then I did jump a bit and I must've squeezed my legs together a bit. Guess where my route 44 cup was? yep, in my lap. When I squeezed a bit, I busted the styrofoam cup and water and ice filled my lap and my seat. I was definitely cooled off!!

Being a political observer, I have closely been watching the presidential race in the United States. As we move closer to selecting a new president, the candidates are trying to make their positions known. Each one has his own solutions to our problems. I'm not criticizing any of them, but I can't help but remind myself, that ultimately, the fate of the nation (and any nation) is in the hand of God.

Pharaoh thought he was in control. From what I understand about the office there may have never been a more powerful position in history. The Pharaoh had all the world could offer at the time; the best of wealth, wine and women. His armies were as vast as his land and livestock. When he was threatened by an enemy, he quickly eliminated them. There was no limit to his control....or at least he thought.

Isn't it neat how God has a way of putting people in their place? God makes it clear to Pharaoh that his only purpose in this world is to be used in such a way as to ultimately give God the glory. Wow! Can you say "humbling"?

Dear Christian friends, regardless of what the media or politicians may say, the one in charge is the Lord God Almighty; Creator; King Eternal! And aren't you glad?

Isn't it neat how God has a way of putting people in their place? God makes it clear to Pharaoh that his only purpose in this world is to be used in such a way as to ultimately give God the glory. Wow! Can you say "humbling"?

Make no mistake about it, God is in control!

Being a political observer, I have closely been watching the presidential race in the United States. As we move closer to selecting a new president, the candidates are trying to make their positions known. Each one has his own solutions to our problems. I'm not criticizing any of them, but I can't help but remind myself, that ultimately, the fate of the nation (and any nation) is in the hand of God.

Pharaoh thought he was in control. From what I understand about the office there may have never been a more powerful position in history. The Pharaoh had all the world could offer at the time; the best of wealth, wine and women. His armies were as vast as his land and livestock. When he was threatened by an enemy, he quickly eliminated them. There was no limit to his control....or at least he thought.
