My Monday contribution to the Variety show.

BIRTH ORDER OF CHILDREN

1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as
your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.
__________________________________________________ __ _
Preparing for the Birth:
1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
2nd baby: You don't bother because you remember that last
time, breathing didn't do a thing.
3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month.
__________________________________________________ ____
The Layette:
1st baby: You pre-wash newborn's clothes, color-coordinate them,
and fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and
discard only the ones with the darkest stains.
3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can't they?
__________________________________________________ ____
Worries:
1st baby: At the first sign of distress--a whimper,
a frown--you pick up the baby
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten
to wake your firstborn.
3rd baby: You teach your three-year-old how to
rewind the mechanical swing.
__________________________________________________ ____
Pacifier:
1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until
you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it
off with some juice from the baby's bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.
__________________________________________________ ____
Diapering:
1st baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour,
whether they need it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to
complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.
__________________________________________________ _____
Activities:
1s t baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing,
Baby Zoo, Baby Movies and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaners.
_____________________________________________ _________
Going Out:
1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter,
you call home five times.
2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to
leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.
__________________________________________________ ____
At Home:
1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child
isn't squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children
__________________________________________________ ____
Swallowing Coins (a favorite):
1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays
2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass.
3rd child: When third child swallows a coin you deduct it from his allowance!
________________________________________________ ______

GRANDCHILDREN: God's reward for allowing your children to live.

an oldie but a goodie:

Believe .. Have a seat....relax...and read this slowly.
It kind a sums it all up..........

I believe -
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I believe -
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe -
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I believe -
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I believe -
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe -
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe -
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe -
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe -
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe -
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe -
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe -
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I believe -
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe -
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe -
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe -
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe -
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I believe -
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe -
That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe -
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I believe -
That two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe -
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe -
That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I believe -
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I believe -
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

Live, Laugh, Love

As we grow up,
we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.
You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend.
You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love.
So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance..........

And Then It's Winter
(from Marie Willey)

It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all... And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams..But, here it is...the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...

How did I get here so fast?
Where did the years go and where did my babies go? And where did my youth go?

I remember well... seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like...

But, here it is...

My age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore...it's mandatory!
Cause if I don't on my own free will...
I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things.
But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...This I know, that when it's over...its over....!

Yes, I have regrets .There are things I wish I hadn't done ,,,,,things I should have done. But indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. Its all in a lifetime.. .

So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think.

So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly!

"Life is God's gift to you.
The way you live your life is your gift to God, and those who came after.
Make it a fantastic one."

LIVE IT WELL!!

While praying one day, a woman asked, "Who are you, Lord?"
He answered, "I am."
"But who is 'I am'?", she asked.
And He replied....,
"I am love. I am peace. I am grace. I am joy.
I am the Way, the Truth and the Light.
I am the comforter.
I am strength. I am safety.
I am shelter. I am power. I am The Creator.
I am the beginning and the end.
I am the Most High."
The girl, with tears in her eyes, looked towards heaven and said, "Now I understand, but Lord, who am I?"
Then God tenderly wiped the tears from her eyes and whispered, "You are mine."

OK....this is not as nice nor as inspirational as yesterday's.
I got this from my mother via e-mail, and I actually loved it. She was tired of how everyone at her church's women's group can sit around and complain about how other women do things. One of my biggest pet peeves in this world is judgmental people. We have no idea where others are coming from. We have no idea where others are going. We have no idea what kind of a day/week/year some people are having........and yet, so many feel the need to judge others and/or complain about how certain people do things. Chaps my ass. Many people feel the need to judge me w/out even bothering to get to know me. I honestly try not to judge others. I honestly try to get to know others. I care about people....genuinely care about people. Anyway, my mom can drive me slap ass crazy at times, but on this one, I thought she was "spot on". Here's a copy of my mom's e-mail. :))

I know this "hostess thing" has been a bone of contention thing for ever so long so these are my opinions - not that anyone needs to care.......but:
1. Some people are on a budget and just can't afford to do a lot. Believe me - I know all about that! When I was a single mother, I had not a single penny left over for things like Women's Club and would probably just not have joined because I would have been too embarrassed to admit I could just not afford it! I could only afford room, board, and transportation!! Most of you have no idea how pathetically poor I was for a whole lot of my life! And now that we are both retired, I can't afford what I could when we both worked, either!
2. Quite a few of our members still work and just simply don't have the time nor energy to mess with shopping and cooking and baking and decorating and laying out a huge spread.
3. Some 2nd Tuesday, I may have a migraine, or just generally feel like crud, but feeling responsible for showing up, if I signed up for being a hostess - I may put out a can of mixed nuts and a bottle of diet coke and just DARE someone to complain! And if I ever hear that anyone DID have the nerve to complain - that will just be the very last time I ever sign up again!!
4. People are just different! If you drop by my house for a cup of coffee - you will probably get a mug of quite bad coffee and you'd probably see a couple of fur balls rolling around the floor from my dog and 3 cats!!! If you were to drop by Vicky's house for a cup of coffee, you would find a gorgeous house - decorated for the season - filled with fresh flowers - you'd be served wonderful flavored coffee in bone china with a silver tray of homemade petit fours! I actually invited friends over for dinner once and forgot to serve it - even though I had it all made and only had to heat up the casseroles and take the salad and dessert out of the fridge!! (But, of course, that was back in my drinking days - )
5. I'm not supposed to eat sugar, so I appreciate when people bring cheese and stuff. But there is absolutely no reason in the world why anyone needs to cater to me.
So to sum up the hostess thing - I think who ever is nice enough to sign up for being a hostess should bring whatever they want and the rest of us should be thankful for what ever we get and no one should complain. And furthermore no one owes anyone any explanations for why they brought what they did!

Maybe that's all they could afford! Maybe they were sick!! Maybe they were feeling creative and just wanted to do something special! Maybe it was a special day! Maybe they were having a good day! Maybe they were having a bad day!! Maybe they just didn't feel like it! Maybe they were just hopeless in the creativity department like me! Maybe God gave them the love and the talent to just do everything she does with beauty and flourish like Vicki!

And I don't mean to just single out Vicki - because our club is blessed with many creative and talented people. I just don't happen to be one of them. Sharon made some wonderful Christmas table decorations. Juanita saved all my Easter baskets. Everything Jean does is always good. I'm just so helpless I stand in awe of all you creative people!

So those are my thoughts on the matter in these early morning hours!! If you bothered to read all the way through to end of this missile, you may consider it or just ignore.

Good Morning M&M groupies!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/Dreamy2/group_hug.gif

THE PERFECT HEART

One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley.
A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect.
There was not a mark or a flaw in it.
Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen.
The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.

Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said
"Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine."
The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart.
It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed
and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges.
In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.
The people stared -how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought?
The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed.
"You must be joking," he said.
"Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears."
"Yes," said the old man, "Yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you.
You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love,
I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them,
and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart,
but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges,
which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared.
Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away,
and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me.
These are the empty gouges - giving love is taking a chance.
Although these gouges are painful, they stay open,
reminding me of the love I have for these people too,
and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting.
So now do you see what true beauty is?"
The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks.
He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart,
and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands.
The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart
and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart.
It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges.
The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore
but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his.
They embraced and walked away side by side.

Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.

He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.

A little girl asked her mother, 'How did the human race appear?'

The mother answered, 'God made Adam and Eve and they had children and
so was all mankind made.'

Two days later the girl asked her father the same question.

The father answered, 'Many years ago there were monkeys from which the
human race evolved.'

The confused girl returned to her mother and said, 'Mom, how is it
possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and Dad
said they developed from monkeys?'

The mother answered, 'Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my
side of the family and your father told you about his.'

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us!

So do I melinda.

Cows:

DEMOCRAT
You have two cows.
Your neighbor has none.
You feel guilty for being successful.
Barbara Streisand sings for you.

REPUBLICAN
You have two cows.
Your neighbor has none.
So?

SOCIALIST
You have two cows.
The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor.
You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow.

COMMUNIST
You have two cows.
The government seizes both and provides you with milk.
You wait in line for hours to get it.
It is expensive and sour.

CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE
You have two cows.
You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE
You have two cows.
Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain.

AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one.
You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses.
Your stock goes up.

FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike because you want three cows.
You go to lunch and drink wine.
Life is good.

JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains.
Most are at the top of their class at cow school.

GERMAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour.
Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.

ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows but you don't know where they are.
While ambling around, you see a beautiful woman.
You break for lunch.
Life is good.

RUSSIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have some vodka.
You count them and learn you have five cows.
You have some more vodka.
You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.
The Mafia shows up and takes over however many cows you really have.

TALIBAN CORPORATION
You have all the cows in Afghanistan, which are two.
You don't milk them because you cannot touch any creature's private parts.
You get a $40 million grant from the US government to find alternatives to milk production but use the money to buy weapons.

IRAQI CORPORATION
You have two cows.
They go into hiding.
They send radio tapes of their mooing.

POLISH CORPORATION
You have two bulls.
Employees are regularly maimed and killed attempting to milk them.

BELGIAN CORPORATION
You have one cow.
The cow is schizophrenic.
Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish.
The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow.
The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk.
The cow asks permission to be cut in half.
The cow dies happy.

FLORIDA CORPORATION
You have a black cow and a brown cow.
Everyone votes for the best looking one.
Some of the people who actually like the brown one best accidentally vote for the black one.
Some people vote for both.
Some people vote for neither.
Some people can't figure out how to vote at all.
Finally, a bunch of guys from out-of-state tell you which one you think is the best-looking cow.

CALIFORNIA CORPORATION
You have millions of cows.
They make real California cheese.
Only five speak English.
Most are illegals.
Arnold likes the ones with the big udders.

Happy Tuesday! Today's topic: What's your ministry/how do you serve-help others? Or how do other's help you?

My answer...Mr. Jet and I led worship last night at our church's homeless outreach. I realize now more than ever how blessed we truly are and of course given that we love music, it's kind of a selfish endeavor ;) So no altruism here :D

Smiles and naughty giggles from New England::D

Bob, a handsome dude, walked into a sports bar around 9:58 PM.

He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV.

The 10:00 PM news was coming on. The news crew was covering a story of
a man
on a ledge of a large building preparing to jump.

The blonde looked at Bob and said, "Do you think he'll jump?"

Bob says, "You know, I bet he'll jump."

The blonde replied, "Well, I bet he won't."

Bob placed a $20 bill on the bar and said, "You're on!"

Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge
did a swan dive off the building, falling to his death.

The blonde was very upset, but willingly handed her $20 to Bob,
saying, "Fair's fair. Here's your money."

Bob replied, "I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5 PM
news and so I knew he would jump."

The blond replied, "I did too; but I didn't think he'd do it again."

Bob took the money

A woman came home, screeching her car into the driveway, and ran into the house. She slammed the door and shouted at the top of her lungs, 'Honey, pack your bags. I won the lottery!'

The husband said, 'Oh my God! What should I pack, beach stuff or mountain stuff?' 'Doesn't matter,' she said. 'Just get out.'

Fifty-one years ago, Herman James, a North Carolina mountain man, was drafted by the Army. On his first day in basic training, the Army issued him a comb. That afternoon the Army barber sheared off all his hair. On his second day, the Army issued Herman a toothbrush. That afternoon the Army dentist yanked seven of his teeth. On the third day, the Army issued him a jock strap. The Army has been looking for Herman for 51 years.

OK, your daughter looks like you. I didn't know if it was a daughter or you when you were younger. You are both very pretty.

Thank you. That is my sister in my avie. She passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease the third day of this month. I don't want a picture of me posted anywhere. :D

you don't like your job once you're there?

Not really :wall: It pays the bills, though. I know, sad and pathetic. I used to like it then we moved from downtown Oakland to dismal Richmond. I once had a view of the Bay and could see a wee bit of the Golden Gate Bridge...now I see white walls :( But at least I'm employed :D

I do understand. One time I worked at a construction company answering the phones....I sat in the middle of the offices....all the offices had windows, I had a view of the offices and the elevators. When people would call, I would ask them about the weather outside. :))
One day a guy came by and when I asked if I could help him, he said he just had to come see what I looked like b/c he wanted to match my voice w/ my face...he said I was always so nice and friendly. Instead of putting people on "hold", I'd talk w/ them. Unless the other lines were ringing of course.

In this day and age, there are so many people I either talk to on the phone or write to via e-mail and I have never met them face to face. I kinda miss the personal touch.

I know. it's kind of why the "post a picture" thread is so much fun. finding out the faces behind the posts....much like people are now trying to figure out the voices behind the posts. I did tell them that you have a very beautiful voice, jet. :)

I'm sorry for your sister, but I am happy that you and your family have the right outlook on her life and her death. My dad died after a long illness, so to some degree, I do understand. I remember very clearly the day he told me to pray that he would die soon. He was so tired, and he was so ready to meet his Creator and Redeemer. Tears rolled down my face......when he did die, I thought I would be more upset, but I really was very happy for him. He was finally at peace. He is in Heaven. I can't be too sad about that.
I love your outlook, Semi-Sweet. I love getting to know you. You seem to be a very sweet wonderful lady. You should see about getting the "semi" out of your name, you are totally sweet!!

Toward the end of Sunday service, the Minister asked, 'How many of you have forgiven your enemies?'
80% held up their hands.
The Minister then repeated his question.
All responded this time, except one small, elderly lady.
'Mrs. Neely?'; 'Are you not willing to forgive your enemies?'

I don't have any.' She replied, smiling sweetly.

'Mrs. Neely, that is very unusual. How old are you?'
'Ninety-eight.' she replied.
'Oh, Mrs. Neely, would you please come down in front & tell us all how a person can live ninety-eight years & not have an enemy in the world?'

The little sweetheart of a lady tottered down the aisle, faced the congregation, and said:
'I outlived the bitches...'
