Hey mel...heard this on the radio, but I can't find a story on it...

Evidently a couple was driving home from Schlitterbahn (yesterday?) and were uncomfortable in their wet clothes. So they decided to ride home naked.

But that wasn't the problem.

They were also drinking (surprised?) and then got into an accident.

Oops...

That always happens when the passenger decides to play with the shifter while the car is moving.

well, I'm basing my assessment on the (apparent) facts that...

1. it's not very tall
2. it's only 20-30 yards from the feeder

I may be the only male in West Texas that does not engage in hunting...I think its a total waste of time (like this isn't?) along with fishing...

Besides, how much sport is there when the hunted does not stand even a remote chance...if the prey has the ability to fight back on somewhat even terms, that's one thing - but to set in a hidden blind next to a deer feeding station, armed with a night vision scope on a rifle that can kill at 500 yards is not hunting....its slaughter.

Note I don't condemn the practice nor the people who do it...but lets be realistic and call it what it is.

texan_rep
August 1st, 2007, 12:16 pm
No night vision scope...night hunting is illegal ;)

And while there are hunters out there who would take that 500 yard shot, I am only comfortable out to about 150...

Wireline
August 1st, 2007, 12:22 pm
Actually, one of the reasons I don't 'hunt' is because I am such a good shot...I used to have to use special salt-coated bullets...because I could shoot a deer so far away that without the salt, by the time I could walk up to the target, the meat would have spoiled...

Getting hit by T.D. Erin?

Not real hard...we are too far inland for anything but a big'un to hit us hard. But hurricanes and tropical storms can and do dump a lot of rain our direction.

And as I write this it looks like we are an hour or so away from some heavy stuff.

So much for my hope that it would garner less strength because it was a fast moving hurricane. That thing exploded from a Cat. 2 of 110mph winds to a Cat 4 with 150mph winds overnight. Wow! Dean is projected to be a Category 5 soon. If it stays on its projected path, it will hit Mexico, but the winds extend out 300 miles and could reach southern Texas, If it veers, and hits Texas as a Category 5........stay safe guys. I'll pray that it either dissapates or diminishes greatly before hitting land again.

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas.

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas.

If "Vacation" means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas.

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas.

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas.

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas.

Wow! Thank God Dean didn't strike the U.S.

Hurricane Dean made its first landfall around 3:30 am (Central Time) Tuesday with 165 mile per hour winds near Costa Maya, Mexico. It is the first landfalling category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the Atlantic basin since Hurricane Andrew struck South Florida in 1992. Its pressure of 906 millibars is the third lowest pressure at landfall behind the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane in the Florida Keys and Hurricane Gilbert in 1988 in Cancun, Mexico.
