oh, Haddie....golly I know all about psycho family members. When my dad died my mom acted like the grieving widow, and they had been divorced for 30 years!!!!!!! my poor step dad was completely forgotten while my mom played the game "it's all about me".......my mom decided how we would all walk into the church and to this day I will not forgive her for putting me last. ****, he was my father............
I do understand. While we were all at my husband's grandfather's funeral, a few family members skipped the funeral to ransack the house and take everything that they wanted.
sad. this should be a time that pulls everyone together, but many times it is not.

Heard this one today, had to share it with my friends down in Texas.

Men DO Remember Anniversaries

A woman awakes during the night to find that her
Husband is not in their bed. She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to
Look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a hot
Cup of coffee in front of him. He appears to be in deep thought, just
Staring at the wall. She watches as he wiped a tear from his eye and takes a sip of his coffee. What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room, "Why are you down here at this time of night?"
The husband looks up from his coffee, "Do you remember 20 years ago when
We were dating, and you were only 16?" he asks solemnly. The wife is
Touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring and sensitive.
"Yes, I do" she replies. The husband paused. The words were not coming
Easily. "Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my
Car?" "Yes, I remember" said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him. The husband continued. "Do you remember when he shoved the
Shotgun in my face and said, either you marry my daughter, or I will send
You to jail for 20 years?" "I remember that too" she replied softly. He wiped another tear from his cheek and said......

"I would have gotten out today."

Wow Thanks Melinda.

One more before bed.

A man makes a call and a little girl answers. "Hello?" inquires the girl.

"Hi honey, it's daddy." Is mommy near the phone?"

"No, she's upstairs." answers the girl.

"Do me a favor hun and call to her for me." " It's rather important."

"OK but it might get me in trouble." says the girl.

"Why's that hun?" "Mom's sleeping?" asks the man.

No, she went to the bedroom with Uncle Frank and told me not to disturb them." said the girl.

"HUH?!" "But you have no Uncle Frank honey." said the man.

"Yes I do." "And he's in the bedroom with mommy." insisted the girl.

Controlling his rage, the man instructs the girl. "Honey, listen carefully." "Call up to mommy and tell her you
see Daddy's car pulling onto the drive, OK?

"OK daddy."

The man hears the girl call up to her mother and hears something of a comotion.

"Honey!?" "What's happening?" "What's that noise?"

The girl replies, "I did as you asked and mom let out a scream!" "Then she and Uncle Frank ran out with nothing on!"

"Mommy ran to the stairs, slipped on the top step and fell all the way down!"

"And Uncle Frank?" asked the man.

"He ran to the back bedroom and jumped out the window toward the pool but forgot we drained it last weekend!" cried the girl.

"Huh!?" "But we don't have a pool honey!" said the dumbfounded man.

"Sure we do daddy" insisted the girl.

After a pause the man asks, "Is this 555-2841?"

"He ran to the back bedroom and jumped out the window toward the pool but forgot we drained it last weekend!" cried the girl.

not what you were talking about, but I love this one:
A TEXAN IN HELL-

Day 1 - Per his daily ritual, Satan walks through his domain to see
that everyone is sufficiently miserable.
As usual, he pauses to take special pleasure in the pain and agony
displayed by the new arrivals. However,
on this particular day he spots a lanky Texan smiling and looking as
though he's at a picnic. "Hey you!",
Satan yells, "The temperature in here is a constant 95 degrees and the
humidity is 90%! You're supposed
to be miserable!"

Quips the Texan, "Maybe so, but it feels just like Houston in June to
me. I had a ball on those hot summer
nights at Gilleys."

Miffed, Satan decides to adjust the temperature up to 100 degrees and
the humidity to 95%.

Day 2 - On his daily stroll, Satan notices everyone appears
exceptionally miserable today. He remembers
the smiling Texan and decides to see how he's faring today. To his
surprise, the Texan has unbuttoned a
couple of buttons on his shirt, but he still looks happy and carefree.
Satan cries out, "Hey Tex, what are
you smiling about now?"

The Texan replies, "Well today reminds me of those Willie Nelson 4th of
July picnics. Boy those were some
great parties."

This really irritated Satan, who promptly turns the temperature down to
110° and the humidity up to 100%.

Day 3 - Satan dispenses with his daily stroll and goes straight to the
region of hell where he would locate the
Texan. Sure enough, he finds the Texan, shirt-off, with a huge grin on
his face. "Okay, so what is it this time?"
Satan asks.

"Well, it's just like Dallas in August. Man we had some fine times
watching the Cowboys on Sunday afternoons."

Irate, Satan determines to put an end to this charade. He sets the
temperature down to zero degrees with a 25
mile per hour wind.

Later that day, Satan decides to check back on that fool hardy Texan.
He finds him huddled and shivering...lips
blue, arms folded, snow in his hair and icicles hanging from his
mustache. But bigger than Dallas, there he was
laughing out loud and cheering.

"I GIVE UP!" declared Satan. "What in blue blazes could you find to be
happy about now."

The Texan replied, "Well, this can only mean one thing... The Aggies
have finally won a National Championship!"

your red one means that you are invisible to us...we can see your posts, etc. but we can't see where on the boards you are...which threads you are reading and when you are on or off. you are in stealth mode. your dot is only red to you...to us it's not on at all. my green dot means everyone knows where I am and when I'm on.

I'm sorry, I didn't know about your dad.
My dad died December 28, 2000. He was 66.
and yes, he had been sick for a long time, and yes, God has a plan. My dad was actually angered that he didn't die for Christmas. I was in denial. I kept thinking he would get better. Since it was winter the days were short and the nights were long. It was actually cold that year, and rainy as usual. I bought my dad a fibre optic Christmas tree, and I am so glad that I did. He would lay in his hospital bed and just stare at that stupid tree w/ all of it's colors, made even more vibrant against the dreary weather coming thru the window. I also bought him a down comforter, but he refused to use it. Those of us who spent the night w/ him used it instead. I bought him a PJ set and robe for when he got better..........they are still hanging in my closet, I just can't get rid of them even 7 years later.

My heart goes out to you SUV.

Thanks for the kind words.

He was 86 and lived a good life. The last 4 years were in the nursing home after his complications [mini stroke] from aortic valve replacement. Of course, he was out dancing the 3 nights prior to going in for surgery.

I had you pegged as a "glistener" instead.:D

On a side note, I spent a lot of time this weekend driving through Texas. Never seen it greener. Lots of rain can be a bummer but it sure does make Texas look alive.........even if it does make you sweat.:wall:

Everything is absolutely beautiful, you are right. And all the tanks are full too. Much better than last year when they were so dry all the fish were dying. :(

Hey mel...heard this on the radio, but I can't find a story on it...

Evidently a couple was driving home from Schlitterbahn (yesterday?) and were uncomfortable in their wet clothes. So they decided to ride home naked.

But that wasn't the problem.

They were also drinking (surprised?) and then got into an accident.

Oops...
