Warning - during storms like that, avoid 42d st and Dixie like the plague...there are NO storm drains, and that intersection is in a natural flood draw.

Seriously, I've seen 6-8 ft of water rushing 35 MPH thru there...anyplace on Dixie is usually bad news during severe storming...

Look out for Ike, could be coming our way. My In-Laws live near Corpus. They're funny, soon as a hurricane comes anywhere near the gulf, they head to visit us in San Antonio. I guess that's mostly due to what they went through with Celia (sp?) long ago.

Out in the western plains, we've been fighting torrential flooding and such for a week and a half...had a series of monster thunderstorms (back end of Ike, so they say), but it looks like a few clear days for a change...

Talked to some folks in Houston/Galveston yesterday...lots of devastation, lots of property destroyed forever...pray for them.

Actually, being in SA has made me very familiar with the effect...an eastern Pacific hurricane gets caught up in the jet...all that stuff gets funneled over to South Texas...next thing you know you get the "rain train"...

Strangeness...my Dad's 90th b'day party was a smashing success...our Geo Prism blew its engine up about an hour before we pulled out to San Antonio, so I'm walking right now... Deb is on alert for deployment to either Galveston or Presidio... Strangeness...my Dad's 90th b'day party was a smashing success...our Geo Prism blew its engine up about an hour before we pulled out to San Antonio, so I'm walking right now... Deb is on alert for deployment to either Galveston or Presidio... And its a beautiful day already...we have 3 days of solid tracking, now car shopping, and a powwow here this weekend to prepare for...other than that, pretty much the usual insanity.
