alright dammit...I dug up an old yearbook (like I have any new ones?) and find these schools were 27AA:
- Cole
- Randolph (sucks)
- Somerset
- Southside
- Boerne (that must be you, Tex)
- Poteet
Ah, yes...High school...they called it "high" school for a reason in 1972-74, because most people were.
1972 was the first year Judson was NOT in the same district...

Where one lives, even where one was born, has nothing to do with being a real Texan...
being Texan, aside from geography, is having a certain outlook on life, a certain code of ethics, a certain set of cojones (or ovaries), and a certain "this is the way it is, and if you don't like it you can kiss my ass" approach to most things...
Swagger...with the means to back it up.

Good morning everyone. It rained last night and threatens to now. When I got home, had some ants coming through under the storm door from the porch to get a dead bug. Neat straight line as they marched. I have a trick I use to deal with them. Regular spray from the bottle window cleaner is very effective at killing them and easy to clean. Actually pretty good to clean the floor with. Didn't take long to deal with them.

That said...I am betting odds on end that we see snow earlier than ever here...(3rd week of October is the earliest I've seen it in the Permian Basin)...Last summer was even milder, (only ONE 100 degree day all year long) and snow actually came later than usual, as we enjoyed a splendid, extended fall.
Up here, it's normal to see at least 14 100 degree days, this year we have had only three, and had only the one mentioned last year.
Snow is dependent on moisture in the air more than it is on cold temperatures. If it's dry, not gonna snow.

Sure would be nice if we could get some.....We have the advantage of some elevation up here. (3,600 ft above sea level) Makes all the difference in the world for air quality and pleasant conditions 90% of the time.
It's not even muggy here when it's raining with the sun still out!

Good morning everybody. Rained some more during the day and night. Quit around 4:00 am. The sky looks like it is clearing up now. Also, with all of the building of new homes in the area, It seems that more pet dogs are getting away from their owners and getting lost. When I went to leave the house, it just quit raining and when I opened the door, someone's dog was asleep by my door. I must have startled him, got up fast and took off, peeked around the corner and then ran off. Oh well, not much I could do.

Hi all, been along time since I checked this thread, But I do return with a joke...
A Department of Water Resources representative stops at a Texas ranch and talks with an old rancher.
He tells the rancher, I need to inspect your ranch for your water allocation.
The old rancher says, 'Okay, but don't go in that field over there.
The Water representative says, 'Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me. See this card? This card means I am allowed to go WHEREVER I WISH on any agricultural land. No questions asked or answered. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?'
The old rancher nods politely and goes about his chores.
Later, the old rancher hears loud screams and spies the Water Rep running for his life and close behind is the rancher's bull. The bull is gaining with every step. The Rep is clearly terrified, So the old rancher immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs.....
'Your card! Show him Your card!'

Top o' the day, here's a few for the weekend...
The train was quite crowded, so a Redneck U. S. Marine walked the entire length looking for a seat, but the only seat left was taken by a well dressed, middle-aged, French woman's poodle.
The war-weary Marine asked, 'Ma'am, may I have that seat?' The French woman just sniffed and said to no one in particular,
'Americans are so rude. My little Fifi is using that seat.'
So again the Redneck U. S. Marine walked the entire length
for a seat, but again the only seat left was taken that well dressed, middle-aged, French woman's poodle.
The war-weary Marine asked again, 'Ma'am, may I have that seat?'
The French woman once again just sniffed and said to no one in particular,
'Americans are so rude. My little Fifi is using that seat.'
So once again the Marine walked the entire train again, but the only seat left was under that dog.
'Please, ma'am. May I sit down? I'm very tired.'
She snorted, 'Not only are you Americans rude, you are also arrogant!'
This time the Marine didn't say a word, he just picked up the little dog, tossed it out the train window, and sat down.
The woman shrieked, 'Someone must defend my honor! This American should be put in his place!'
An English gentleman sitting nearby spoke up,
'Sir, you Americans often seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You hold the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your autos on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you seem to have thrown the wrong bitch out the window.
----------------------
1.A nursery school pupil told his teacher he'd found a cat, but it was dead. 'How do you know that the cat was dead?' she asked her pupil. 'Because I ****ed in its ear and it didn't move,' answered the child innocently. 'You did WHAT?' the teacher exclaimed in surprise. 'You know,' explained the boy, 'I leaned over and went 'Pssst' and it didn't move'
2. A small boy is sent to bed by his father. Five minutes later.....'Da-ad....' 'What?''I'm thirsty. Can you bring a drink of water?''No, You had your chance. Lights out.'Five minutes later: 'Da-aaaad.....''WHAT?''I'm THIRSTY. Can I have a drink of water??'' I told you NO! If you ask again, I'll have to smack you!!'Five minutes later......'Daaaa-aaaad.....''WHAT!''When you come in to smack me, can you bring a drink of water?'
3. An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him 'How do you expect to get into Heaven?' The boy thought it over and said, 'Well, I'll run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, 'For Heaven's sake, Dylan, come in or stay out!''
4. One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was
tucking her son into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, 'Mummy, will you sleep with me tonight?' The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. 'I can't dear,' she said. 'I have to sleep in Daddy's room.'
A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice: 'The big sissy.'
5. It was that time, during the Sunday morning service, for the
children's sermon. All the children were invited to come forward.
One little girl was wearing a particularly pretty dress and, as she sat down, the minister leaned over and said, 'That is a very pretty dress. Is it your Easter Dress?' The little girl replied, directly into the minister's clip-on microphone, 'Yes, and my Mum says it's a bitch to iron.'
6. When I was six months pregnant with my third child, my three year old came into the room when I was just getting ready to get into the shower. She said, 'Mummy, you are getting fat!' I replied, 'Yes, honey, remember Mummy has a baby growing in her
tummy.' 'I know,' she replied, but what's growing in your bum?'
7. A little boy was doing his math homework. He said to himself, 'Two plus five, that son of a bitch is seven. Three plus six, that son of a bitch is nine....' His mother heard what he was saying and gasped, 'What are you doing?' The little boy answered, 'I'm doing my math homework, Mum.' 'And this is how your teacher taught you to do it?' the mother asked 'Yes,' he answered. Infuriated, the mother asked the teacher the next day, 'What are you teaching my son in math?' The teacher replied, 'Right now, we are learning addition.' The mother asked, 'And are you teaching them to say two plus two, that
son of a bitch is four?' After the teacher stopped laughing, she answered, 'What I taught them was, two plus two, THE SUM OF WHICH, is four.'
8. One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class. She came to the part of the story where Chicken Little tried to warn the farmer. She read, '.... and so Chicken Little went up to the farmer and said, 'The sky is falling, the sky is falling!' The teacher paused then asked the class, 'And what do you think that farmer said?' One little girl raised her hand and said, 'I think he said: 'Holy ****! A talking chicken!''The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes.
9. A certain little girl, when asked her name, would reply, I'm Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter.'Her mother told her this was wrong, she must say, 'I'm Jane Sugarbrown.' The Vicar spoke to her in Sunday School, and said, 'Aren't you Mr Sugarbrown's daughter?'
She replied, 'I thought I was, but mother says I'm not.'
10. A little girl asked her mother, 'Can I go outside and play
with the boys?' Her mother replied, 'No, you can't play with the boys, they're too rough.' The little girl thought about it for a few moments and asked, If I can find a smooth one, can I play with him?'
11. A little girl goes to the barber shop with her father.
She stands next to the barber chair, while her dad gets his hair cut, eating a snack cake The barber says to her, 'Sweetheart, you're gonna get hair on your muffin.'She says, 'Yes, I know, and I'm gonna get boobs too.'

He's autistic because he can (and does) stare at one spot for hours...give his a big ol chewbone, and he walks around for hours with it, not knowing what to do (very funny and sad at the same time)... we measure his anxiety by how fast he trots in a circle and how wide the circle is....the faster/tighter, the more freaked out the boy is...always ALWAYS clockwise - I tried to make him go counterclockwise one time, and he literally had a look of sheer terror...
Tex - he didn't see the other dog...all he saw was me putting Roofus (RIP) into the truck, then driving back without him...

that would possibly explain his confusion...now I don't know this for a fact, but my understanding is that letting an animal see the body of a "friend" that has died allows them to "know" they are not coming back...
just what I've heard...

He never was any good at abstract reasoning, anyway...
Strange dog, really...the ONLY thing I know for a fact he ever has heard was the space shuttle that expoded over Texas years ago...Sunday morning, he was curled in in a ball snoozing while I was doing something in the backyard...then he jumped up, looked skyward to the west, and howled like Satan's daughter for 10 minutes...
Then I heard the news on the radio...
Very strange
