mel...was it last year or the year before when that storm came ashore around Corpus Christi, wandered out to Laredo, and then came back our way for a while?

oh wow....time is so fleeing these days. I'm not sure.
but last year we didn't get a proper summer b/c all we did get was rain. maybe that was part of it........

The last Hurricane that really "hit" us was Alicia.........and that was back in the early 80's.
so see, Jet, we really are safe.

jet
July 22nd, 2008, 2:32 pm
it won't be that bad......but thanks, jet.
we actually get excited when there's a storm b/c then we know we at least have a chance of maybe just maybe getting some rain. :))

:)) Gotcha!

Jet...this is why we tend to look forward to hurricanes...look at this pic of the 2005 season. This was the year of Katrina and all the doom-and-gloomers pontificating on "global warming causing more hurricanes".

Note how many tracks go through Texas. I rest my case.

melinda

yeah, we get excited when there's any kind of disturbance in the Gulf, b/c we're hoping that we can get some rain out of it......if only.

Thaaaat's right...keep the water down there, where you don't really need it...while the rest of us (in the part most people consider the REAL Texas) are drying up and blowing away.

Seriously - keep your head down.

Don't need it?!? Excuse me?!?! This area is in a more severe drought than yours, thankyouverymuch...http://drought.unl.edu/dm/DM_south.htm

Please....you are under a 'more severe' drought than we are because your are actually having to pour bottle water over your pansies, wash your poodles a rain barrel instead of importing Canadian rinse water, and God forbid, actually having to drink TAP water...

Here, we wash the hounds with dust...and have to inject whiskey straight into our veins to avoid spilling any liquids.

I have been told there are no more stand up urinals in your part of the state...that there are now an equal number of squatting stations for men and women - since all the men moved out here leaving behind a wash of metrosexuals and Harvey Feinstein wannabes...is that true?

NM? Those guys just WISH they were cool enough to be Texans...most of them have to be home before dark, anyway.

Morning Tex...

my two dogs got into a fight w/ a racoon yesterday morning while we were out on our morning run. the two dogs found a coon in the middle of the road, I wasn't paying much attention b/c the day before there had been a dead armadillo on the road, and I thought that's what this was. Then I looked closer and realized this was alive. and this was a coon..........my dogs had it. I started screaming and running over to them, but then I decided maybe I shouldn't get too close. My dogs have had rabies shots; I have not. So what was a good distance to break up this fight, but still stay safe? My dogs finally let the coon go, and then the coon latched onto the throat of one of my dogs.....finally the coon let go and ran off. One dog tried to follow, but I kept screaming and hollering so much she finally came back.....
between this and the water moccasin that was slithering past my back door the other night, I'm not so much enjoying wild life these days. OK, I really really want to beat the crap of my dog. I won't...but I want to.
She has blue heeler in her. When we get ready to go walking or running, she gets so excited, and she attempts to nip at my heels. Sometimes she succeeds. The other day she got me good.........:((
When I complained, my husband said, "She's just so excited, and it's in her."

Odessa at one time was the murder capital of the United States, per capita...with the cool spell, you won;t need asbestos - may an umbrella...

yea...but sadly, drifting OT is about the riskiest activity I pursue anymore...Quite smoking years back, had a few Vodkas the other nite, the 1st booze in years, haven't done anything more potent than Cheetos in decades, I buckle up, drive like a normal person...

Damn. I am officially a bore ass.
