You can't blame them for that. They've discovered that North Carolinians are guilt ridden because of the way they treated minorities in the past and are eager to make amends. Most North Carolinians are bible-thumpers and are afraid God will get them if they don't demonstrate to Him that they have changed their wicked and selfish ways.

well, either that, or all the new constuction. maybe a combo of the two.
A serious construction slump is prevalent throughout all North Carolina. There's far more illegal immigrants than there are jobs. Consequently they are taking advantage of the state's generous welfare programs. Most of them have figured out they can get more money on welfare than working. And a lot of them are doing both to supplement their incomes.

Per request, and as much as I love texas... here's a great new law that was passed by Texas today...
Texas signs new self-defense by gun law
By Ed StoddardTue Mar 27, 3:42 PM ET
Criminals in Texas beware: if you threaten someone in their car or office, the citizens of this state where guns are ubiquitous have the right to shoot you dead.
Governor Rick Perry's office said on Tuesday that he had signed a new law that expands Texans' existing right to use deadly force to defend themselves "without retreat" in their homes, cars and workplaces.
"The right to defend oneself from an imminent act of harm should not only be clearly defined in Texas law, but is intuitive to human nature," Perry said on his Web site.
The new law, which takes affect on September 1, extends an exception to a statute that required a person to retreat in the face of a criminal attack. The exception was in the case of an intruder unlawfully entering a person's home.
The law extends a person's right to stand their ground beyond the home to vehicles and workplaces, allowing the reasonable use of deadly force, the governor's office said.
The reasonable use of lethal force will be allowed if an intruder is:
- Committing certain violent crimes, such as murder or sexual assault, or is attempting to commit such crimes
- Unlawfully trying to enter a protected place
- Unlawfully trying to remove a person from a protected place.
The law also provides civil immunity for a person who lawfully slays an intruder or attacker in such situations.
Texas joins several other states including Florida that have or are considering similar laws.
Sympathy for violent offenders and criminals in general runs low in Texas, underscored by its busy death row. The state leads the United States in executions with 388 since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976 by the U.S. Supreme Court.
A conservative political outlook and widespread fondness for hunting also means Texans are a well-armed people capable of defending themselves with deadly force.
It is easy to acquire guns over the counter in Texas and lawful to carry a concealed handgun with a permit.
God Bless Texas indeed.

What cracked me up, was #6. I had a cousin pass away down in Tishimingo (hey It's close to Texas), and when I went to get into my slacks, they didn't fit anymore. (Damn washer probably shrunk them, I'm sure that's it.)
So I picked up my aunt and grandmother, and I attended a funeral wearing a black t-shirt and overalls.

This is how my husband dresses every single day of his life:
Wranglers and boots, button shirt. Long sleeve in winter; short sleeve in summer......but that is his attire no matter where he is going or what he is doing. (The only exception is when on vacation...if he's at the beach or something.)
He had a very important business luncheon one day, and he wore his basic attire. He noticed that most everyone else was in suits or at least slacks. He started to worry until the "main man" walked in...wearing Wranglers and boots!!

Subject: DON'T BUY PEPSI IN THE NEW CAN!
Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can
coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the
Pledge of Allegiance on them.
However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge,
"Under God."
Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone.
In that case, we don't
want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either!
So if we don't buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended
when they don't receive our money that has the words
"In God We Trust" on it.
