Or is this another conspiracy from certain un named "mods" from the Gulf Coast regions (so they say, anyway) wishing they were here, not there....

I will try.

Texas is not merely one of 50 states in the Union...Texas is an attitude, a certain swagger, where football is king, men are supposed to tip their hats to the ladies. Texas is a frame of mind, to quote one of my favorite songs. A frame of mind in which political correctness is not necessary, because we try and treat our own with a certain set of rules and manners.

You don't have to be from here, but I would imagine you have to know that Texans laugh the hardest at good jokes, fight the hardest for the important things, and are very protective of our lands, our homes, our lifestyles...

Putting it into another perspective - if you are in need, a typical Texan will give you whatever he/she has, even if it means that Texan doing without...if you ask, you'll still get it, but somewhat begrudgingly...if you try and take it, you'll likely lose a finger or two.

I don't speak for anyone but me, but I was asked to explain...so in my view, everyone is welcome, some as tourists, some as targets at the skeet range, some as friends, and some as prospective neighbors....the choice is really yours.

Make sense?

Whom do you blame for the woes of this great land? Do any of the past or present Texans serving this country in elected positions in DC carry any responsibility?

Absolutly there are elected officals from Texas in DC!!!! that are a part of the problem... Seems that once they get to DC somebody drills 2 holes in their head and takes out the part of their brain they used to make logical decisions for the good of the people.

That's the problem with Texas politics...too many ^%&$ yankees and liberal whiny asses who moved here with the seemingly sole pupose of screwing up a perfectly good place to be....

Sadly, thanks to the mindset of many who moved here in the 70s to take advantage of OUR resources, OUR climate, OUR hospitality, etc, the plan is working....One reason I have mixed emotions about the oil industry - it attracts all kinds of pond scum, none of which ever leave.

********! Texas is a fricking police state! The cops are as thick as flies here, and this is one of the most oppressed and repressed states in the Union. Texas has done very little to stop illegal immigration, has this stupidly signed on to this plan to build a highway to Mexico through the middle of our state, and refuses to legalize medical marijuana. The cities are full of lowlife "minority" criminals and the rural areas are chock full of lowlife rednecks. If Texas ran the country we'd all be in a world of hurt. I'd say a good half of the people here are not worth a damn.

Well, of course, there are no cops out there, there are no people out there!

The North Texas area (Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex) has cops everywhere. It has criminals and lowlifes everywhere too for that matter. If you drive anywhere within 100 square miles of this place you are a target. Between Dallas and Denton, where I live every municipality has cops on the highway and they are raking in the money. It really depresses me, because it didn't used to be like this.

Texas is also very proud of it prison system, as you may know. Everyone in this state has a $30,000 bounty on his head.

Texas politics sucks! The governor is a corrupt madman and tyrant.

Waa....:cry::cry:

Then move. I happen to think we are woefully UNDERstaffed police wise...and if the crime stats are as high in your area as you say they are, then it kind of proves my point.

Yeah, there are people out here....lots of them....just not as concentrated per square mile as the metroplex or the I35 Hell Corridor...and there is a good reason for that.

Seriously, have you checked out even once the correlation between number of patrol officers, population numbers, and crime statistics? It might help you understand the term Police State a bit better.

You can know all you want to about the North...the thread is "God Blessed Texas" not God Blessed the Rest of the World"

Most people don't take kindly to people coming into their house and taking a dump in their living room, even if they are cousins, neigbors, or relations.

Think about it. I've never thought of the Texas thread as a place to post opinions about the state and its citizens unless one has a stake in the outcome, has the actual ability to enact changes if need be, or is more than slightly aware of the entire Texas experience.

Good Morning Guy

Aaaw darling this thread belongs to Mr. Hannity as do they all. This is his house. And please do find a post where I dissed Texas. That said, anyone dissing "the north" as you did do because of some Texas misconceptions or a case of excessive swagger gets a litle feisty lass from the coast of New England swaying in here with a bag full of truths and a sweet smile and a sweeter sense of humor. ;)

Interesting....must be a result of the front that blew thru here last night....we were looking at 40-50 MPH winds from the north for a while....

Different note - I've got an AM station preset on both vehicles for AM 1200, WOAI...late at night (like on the way home from a picking gig or whatnot) I still get them clear as a bell, 400 miles away. Not so much during the day, but at night, heck yeah.

When I was stationed in Alamogordo, I used to listen to Spurs games on my car radio in the driveway on WOAI.

The day/night difference is not an illusion. WOAI is a night-time "clear-channel" station (which is the origin of their company name); their broadcast pattern changes dawn/dusk.

Hey Wire, I wish for you and Mrs. Wire a peaceful Sunday.

The ONLY people who should be even attempting to change the recipe are those that have been tasting it for years and ONLY then if they have something constructive and better....sadly most of the time they are only watering down the recipe and ruining it for everyone. aaaarrrrgggghhhh.......

Started out that way....quiet, calm, peaceful...

then, after Church, I get to mowing the yard (of course the mower needed help getting going after setting in the shed for 4 months)...trimmed a few trees, etc...now my body is SCREAMING for Tylenol.

Topping it off, Deb is vacuuming the rugs when the fairly recently purchased vacuum has a rather major incident....so off she goes to get a new one - after running it for 20 minutes, the beater bar belt breaks....of course she is hopping mad, so I volunteer to go get a new belt...installed...everyone is now happy.

Except me and the back...and the future happiness of the customer service rep of the company that makes the new vacuum for selling a product with a belt that could not last 15 minutes ON A HARDWOOD FLOOR.....I might record that one for prosperity's sake.

Chinese POS....

There are times when I go the the beach-
alone-, to write songs, or whatever-
and see some fantastic beach scenes---
but that's when the scenes always are great, D'oh!!!

true.
meditation while in the waves at the beach is a very good way to touch base with whom we are.

The scenery and the waves just add something--
liquid life?

Your pics of the sunset added light life.

those would make a great desktop scene.
I took my camera and grabbed some shots of the St. Johns here in Fla-
when it was a tad flooded--
and I use one of the shots for a desktop, in my "St Johns theme" i created.

some have said that a picture is better than a thousand words.
I think a great picture can tell a novel.

so many questions...
she's getting married May 31, and all the preparations are coming together right on shedule. It's been a lot of fun.
she won't be graduating until August, b/c her mom keeps making her drop out of her summer classes so that we can take vacations and hit the beaches. She has one more class that she has to take to graduate, but thankfully she can take it over the internet, which is a good thing b/c the day classes start for the summer session, we'll be in Yankee stadium watching the Red Sox.
I have lots of running pictures of myself.
I did not watch the Boston Marathon yesterday. I don't like watching other people run. I just love to run for myself....

morning, Dreamy.

Good Morning Mel!

That sounds wonderful. What an amazing special day that will be for you all.

I only saw this one running pic so I was curious if you had someone take more. Running pics are so cool to capture and view because of the various angles and muscle movements. I would love to see more.

Go Sox!

I'm not so sure I understand the concept of watching people run, though. Its very similar to watching paint drying on television, but without the commercials.
