yes, the old city of Jerusalem is quite small.........now the new city, a different story.
We went to Bethlehem both Thursday and Friday, but I spoke w/ a woman on a different tour and they would not risk going into Bethlehem....not after the Hezbelloh shootings. We had no problems.............
I'll share my adventure and my pics once I get home........Sadly, I know I won't remember everything.

I'm not sure if it's just me or the fact that so many of the places that Jesus was are now these huge ornate tourist attractions. My sister got quite moved at Jesus' tomb, but we were shuffled along so quickly, I really didn't have time to be "moved". To me, the place that "moved" me the most was the Sea of Galilee..........I could just picture Jesus walking on the water. I could picture Him calming the storms. I realize that his death and resurection are SO much more, but that is where I felt it.............

so my best friend from high school died over the weekend.
I was sitting at the airport in Newark, and my husband was talking to his mom on the phone. She mentioned that someone named Kelly called looking for me. That's all I needed to know, Tricia was dead. I just knew it. Tricia and I were best friends through out our four years of high school, but we drifted apart after that. I got married. I moved away. She got married. She had a baby. Then we both had more kids. We said we'd call, but we didn't. We said we'd visit, but we didn't. We went our separate ways, led our separate lives and didn't find the time for each other. Over the years, I have spoken very briefly with her. Over the years, I've kept in touch w/ mutual friends and asked how Tricia was. But we were only close those four very important years of high school. Tricia got colon cancer many years ago. I'm not sure how old she was, but I know she was in her 20's. She was only 11 days older than I am.......the poor girl fought cancer almost her entire adult life. Some years were good. Some years were horrible. But she was stubborn and she was a fighter.........up until Saturday. She quit fighting............

sorry to hear about your loss Melinda. I know it's hard. I friend recently called to tell me one of my good friends died. Then she gave me a laundry list of all kinds of dubious fates of so many of my friends. It's really hard to believe. I've only been gone 10 years. But then I hung out with a lot of really wild people that did dangerous things so, maybe that's why. In fact, I'm amazed I'm still alive myself.
anyway, it's odd to go through it, isn't it? I keep having dreams of him and I remember stuff in my dreams that I forgot so long ago. LIke his eyes were the color of green grapes, really awesome eyes.
I hope we recognize old friends in heaven. I'd really like to see him again. Maybe I'll know and understand all my old friends in a way I can't even imagine right now.

that is sad melinda, I ran into some old friends over the weekend that I hadn't seen in years, it was great fun to meet up with people you once knew real well and catch up on old times. condolences to you, and her family and friends
thank you, free. I went to her Memorial last night. I am so glad I did. I had so much fun catching up w/ her two sisters and her parents. I spoke to her husband briefly, and I met her children. I had not seen them since they were tiny. The family had made a few "memory boards" w/ picture collages, and I was in a few of those pictures. They also brought a few photo albums for people to look through and one was from back in high school........oh how funny those pictures looked and the memories they brought back. I am so glad that I went...........thank you, free for your kind words.

I was definitely thinking UT would be nice b/c of the location. My son applied to both of those schools. He didn't apply to SMU until absolutely right before the deadline, he got a letter telling him that they were sorry, but they only take so many per year and they were full. He could be put on their "waiting list" in case anyone dropped out.

If it means anything....
My degree is in psychology...and I have found it to be an absolutely worthless degree UNLESS one continues much further to get a counseling license (LPC in Texas) AND works for a group requiring QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) status.
Another FWIW: Many PhDs are doing the MA level stuff, as insurance companies have been reluctant to fork out the cash to pay for an actual "Doctor' as opposed to a "therapist" when the outcomes are still the same.
Last FWIW: The whole system in Texas is kind of inane, in that PhDs cannot write prescriptions, only MDs...yet PhDs have a MUCH greater level of the biological component of phsycological illiness than the vast majority of psychiatrists (MDs, technically...)

Busy is one way to put it...I am FORCING some slow down time this morning, prepping for a long afternoon/night...and tomorrow is a monster as well.
We are all but moved in - been working like maniacs on new projects between the hammering and stuff, and we went as far as to buy a piano for the new place....an old spinet, but its a start towards a Yamaha C7 grand...
Wife's family is not to blame....I gave up the 'sins of the fathers' thing shortly after I found out certain ethnic factors in my own 'blood'line...

yes and no...before I could do a load of laundry (example) between clients; start supper during a system backup routine....little things like that.
But on the other hand, the property is entire OURS again, without clients, entourages, etc...
She's been very supporting in the entire process, and continues to be a motivation to make the new place very professional in appearance, but not stoic, staunch, etc...she's adding the "welcome home" touches that I would have otherwise ommited....

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Texas;
If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas;
If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas;
If "Vacation" means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas;
If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas;
If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas;
If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas;
If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas;
If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas;
If you find 60 degrees "a little chilly," you may live in Texas;
LOL
these are great and most of them are very much on point !

ah...well, that's ok...I still marvel at how a bunch of violent/vulgar lyrics and an 8-bar loop (if that long) makes millions of dollars and inspires raves about "talent" :rolleyes:

It's very love/hate with me..
With Zack, it was a really hard pregnancy..and I was in the hospital a lot.. at the time I hated it..
Within 2 months of his birth, I couldn't wait to have another baby... and felt that way until the day the morning sickness started with this one..(6 weeksish) at which time, I remembered all the joys of pregnancy...
But now, we're already talking about another one... we both really want a girl..
I'm sure by the time I'm 30 some weeks...that'll change though :lol:
Luckily outside of the previa/bleeding.. things aren't nearly as bad this time around..
Although, I do find myself to be MUCH more hormonal then the last time..

There's new software that can de-construct an already played and processed CHORD, and alter its voicing while still maintaining the tonal structure...
I am amazed...and frankly annoyed....talent has not been a requirement for music for 20 yers now...just listen to the radio.

I'm impressed by the software (it's been around quite a few years now) that can take a song and alter the tempo without changing the key...

No...keep the hat....and the boots....and the Daisy Duke shorts. Country music needs babes right now that actually have class AND talent, not just fluffers who have good producers.
In all honesty - its getting MUCH better in recent months...just not on the radio though...email or PM for a link to a e-mag I write for...there they have more links to real talent than you can imagine.

I might take you up on that, Wire. Honestly I love old country more than I like the stuff on the radio these days. I have often talked of the "oldies" country station I love listening to when I drive into Houston............
