It's gorgeous...at least to me. The live oak may not be the most beautiful tree in the world, and limestone hills are not usually known for a variety of vegetation...but I love it anyway.
Unfortunately, the areas that look like this that are close to towns...especially the major (and minor) cities...are disappearing...:(

Tumbleweed if you have any. Now with all the rain you have sometimes I would think the vegetation would be lush sometimes.

Typical yankee stereotyping...
You want tumbleweeds, you need to come out to west Texas...couple years back we had sagebrush piled up almost 3 feet against a cinderblock fence, and we live almost downtown Midland,,,,

THat's awful, Haddie...
Tread lightly here....there are short and long term issues for your young'un...you may wish to consult the legal system as well as the local mental health authorities.
For everyone's protection, I would recommend consulting with someone...if they don't give yo satisfactory answers, move up the ladder....protecting your child's and your health and welfare are the tantamount issues.
I would also refrain from posting publically about this issue...There are literally dozens of cases floating around at any given time which have evidence dragged from a public website quoting someone, of course totally out of context.
Again - thoughts and prayers headed your direction....kkep your head down and your child safe until this is resolved

Mean As Hell
by: Johnny Cash
The devil in hell was thrown in chains
A thousand years he there remained
He neither complain nor did he groan
But was determined to start a hell of his own
Where he could torment the souls of innocent men
Without being chained in a prison pen
So he asked the Lord if he had on hand
Anything left when he made this land
The Lord said, "Yes there's a plenty on hand
But I left it down by the Rio Grande.
The fact is ol' boy the stuff is so poor
I don't think you could use it as a hell anymore."
But the devil went down to look at the truck
And said if he took it as a gift he was stuck
For after lookin' it over carefully and well
He said, "This place is too dry for hell."
But in order to get it off his hands
The Lord promised the devil He'd water the land
So trade was closed and deed was given
And the Lord went back to his home in heaven
And the devil said, "Now I've got all that's needed
To make a good hell." And he succeeded
He began by putting thorns all over the trees
He mixed up the sand with millions of fleas
He scattered tarantulas along the road
Put thorns on cactuses and horns on toads
Lenghtened the horns of the Texas steer
Put an addition to the rabbit's ear
Put a little devil in the bronco steed
And poisoned the feet of the centipede
The rattlesnake bites you, the scorpion stings
The mosquito delights you with his buzzing wings
The sunburn's there and so are the ants
And if you sit down you'll need have soles on your pants
The wild boar rooms on a black chapparral
It's a hell of a place that he has for hell
The heat in the summer's a hundred and ten
Too hot for the devil ... too hot for men
The red pepper grows upon the banks of the brook
The Mexicans use it in all that they cook
Just dinin' with one of 'em and you're bound to shout,
"I've hell on the inside as well as the out!"
My hands are calloused July to July
I use a Big Dipper to navigate by
I fight off the wolves to drink from my well
so I have to be -- mean as hell
A sheep herder came and put up the fence
I saw him one day but I ain't seen him since
But if you're needin mutton
We got mutton to sell
We're cowpunchers
And we're mean as hell
Neither me nor my pony's got a pedigree
But he takes me where I'm wantin' to be
I'll ride him to death and when he's fell
I'll get me another one mean as hell
I shot me a calf and cut off her head
Cause the boys in the bunkhouse were wantin' to be fed
They rise and shine with the five thirty bell
And the best one of any of 'em is -- mean as hell...

Are you really gonna post here while you are on that great trip?:))

yesterday I was just busy getting things taken care of.
I'm not taking a lap top, but IF the hotels have a business center, I will try to check in at least sometime......otherwise, I'll talk w/ y'all when I get back.
Have a blessed trip. Say some prayers for those who are dealing with major problems right now. Maybe they'll be extra blessed by having the prayers said in the Holy Land.

OK....today my family and I toured Petra. It's one of the seven wonders of the world. Had a wonderful time, and we literally have been walking all day long. Seriously we walked and/or climbed for 9 hours. Had a lunch break in there, but we definitely got exercise today.
OH, and I rode a camel. :)
