the plox just kind of lay on the ground....

Back in the 80's we had a group of about 25 people. We went to Padre, drove up till the road ended, cut over to the gulf and drove miles up the beach. We camped out for two weeks. It was fanatastic, only saw a few people the whole time, mostly fishermen driving up and down the beach.
The only down side was that our camping gear developed corrosive rash from the salt air.

we're not doing anything big. My son will come home and work and eat and sleep. My daughter wants to take little day trips. She wants to go to NASA and the Keemah Boardwalk, she wants to go to the Science Museum and the IMAX theatre...I would love to go to the Museum of Modern Art b/c I have never been there, although I talk about it all the time..........

We camped in an RV at McDonald observatory during one of the "Texas Star Partys" (the annual telescope fest). A couple of nights we drove down the road to Marfa and tried to see the lights, but never got a glimpse.

one time my favorite Yankee cousin comes to visit. I could NOT have planned this any better. I pick him up from the airport and drive him out to my little podunk town. Anyway I lived there from 1991 to 1993 in Dallas and Garland and from 1993 up in McKinney north of Dallas.

Used to be a Houston Oiler fan....Bum Phillips, Earl Campbell...loved my blue. Good bad or whatever, I loved 'em. Up until they moved ... then I latched onto my husband's beloved Cowboys.

so the Indian Paintbrushes started out a dingy red/orange...but they are certainly turning into that deep and vibrant reddish/oragne that is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think so...trying to remember, I usually look at the flower and not the leaves. I just don't think so, but I have been wrong before. ;)

OK tex, I looked closely at the phlox. Yours is not phlox, which I didn't think it was. Phlox only grows about 1 1/2 - 2 inches high, they do have pointed leaves, but not near as long as in your pic. The phlox is also a five-petal flower.............

I did see spiderwarts today though!!!! not many, but they are out!!

K, and hey, when you get back, no talk about pealing clothes off your wet body and so forth! Bout caused a couple people some serious blood pressure problems yesturday with that kinda talk.:rolleyes:

the drizzling rain is stinging my face, so I decide to take a short cut home and cut thru the pasture. the cows are busy eating the grass and just glance up at my slight interruption of their day. but then my dog has to go and chase them and get the cows all riled up. one of the (appropriately named) longhorns starts chasing after me. I break into a full sprint, but I soon realize that she has a good chance of catching me before I reach the cattleguard. I quickly turn around flailing my arms and screaming, and thank God she got scared and ran off the other way. I may not be taking that short cut again.........

Schlitterbahn is pretty awesome...will be taking the kiddos there when they are old enough to notcomplain about the cold "Wharluppe" river water....
