what broke?
What didn't?
Both audio computers went south, one in a repairable way (took a total OS reinstall)...the other (dual core Gateway) is in the dumpster, thanks to my audio software maker's instructions and link to reflash the BIOS...in spite of my, my tech's and everyone else's best efforts, the motherboard was rendered worthless...crippled out of the box so it seems, with no BIOS reset jumpers or other safety nets...
Spent a big chunk of the day rescuing files, transferring, buying alternate gear, etc...Gateway says its Microsoft's fault, Microsoft says its Samplitude (audio software) fault, Samplitude isn't talking, and my tech says the main PC crash was a result of poor software implementation combined with poor parts and **** poor support from any of them...
Lessons learned...very expensive, as I lost a couple of big contracts, but lessons still learned.

Hey Texans, question for you all.
I might be down in Texas for a week next summer. I have a cousin there, who won that Spielberg reality show about making movies this last year, anyway, Uncle Bill and Aunt Betty are doing a re-union. Of course I'll drive my Grandmother and aunt Marion down there.
My question is, how many of you are around the Austin area? If so, could we meet for lunch or something. I've came to know so many of you , and thought it might be a great time to get together, and share a few laughs.

Ok, I've been lax on the weekly jokes for you all, so hear we go...
NEW DRUGS FOR WOMEN
DAMNITOL
Take 2 and the rest of the world can go to hell for up to 8 full hours.
EMPTYNESTROGEN
Suppository that eliminates melancholy and loneliness by reminding you of how awful they were as teenagers and how you couldn't wait till they moved out!
ST. MOMMA'S WORT
Plant extract that treats mom's depression by rendering preschoolers unconscious for up to two days.
PEPTOBIMBO
Liquid silicone drink for single women. Two full cups swallowed before an evening out increases breast size, decreases intelligence, and prevents conception.
DUMBEROL
When taken with Peptobimbo, can cause dangerously low IQ, resulting in enjoyment of country music and pickup trucks.
FLIPITOR
Increases life expectancy of commuters by controlling road rage and the urge to flip off other drivers.
MENICILLIN
Potent anti-boy-otic for older women. Increases resistance to such lethal lines as, 'You make me want to be a better person. '
BUYAGRA
Injectable stimulant taken prior to shopping. Increases potency, duration, and credit limit of spending spree.
JACKASSPIRIN
Relieves headache caused by a man who can't remember your birthday, anniversary, phone number, or to lift the toilet seat.
ANTI-TALKSIDENT
A spray carried in a purse or wallet to be used on anyone too eager to share their life stories with total strangers in elevators.
NAGAMENT
When administered to a boyfriend or husband, provides the same irritation level as nagging him, without opening your mouth.
WHERE DO REDHEAD BABIES COME FROM?
After their baby was born, the panicked father went to see the Obstetrician.
"Doctor," the man said, "I don't mind telling you, but I'm a little upset because my daughter has red hair. She can't possibly be mine."
"Nonsense," the doctor said. "Even though you and your wife both have black hair, one of your ancestors may have contributed red hair to the gene pool."
"It isn't possible," the man insisted. "This can't be, our families on both sides had jet-black hair for generations."
"Well," said the doctor, "let me ask you this. How often do you have sex?"
The man seemed a bit ashamed. "I've been working very hard for the past year. We only made love once or twice every few months."
"Well, there you have it!" The doctor said confidently.
"It's rust."
Have a great week my friends.

God Blessed Texas
He made it very big
To hold all of the wonders
From the forest down to twig.
God Blessed Texas
With the cactus oh so tall
And the deserts oh so lovely
And the Cowboys of football.
God Blessed Texas
With the mountains pointing high
And the plains upon the East
Growing wheat and corn and rye.
Yes, Texas was so beautiful
With the chili pepper that burns
But then the whole darn thing was messed up
When they got the SA Sterns.

Brett Favre, after living a full life, died.
When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Packer flag in the window.
"This house is yours for eternity, Brett," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."
Brett felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a Silver and Blue sidewalk, a 50-foot flagpole with an enormous Blue Star flag, and in every window, a "How 'Bout Them Cowboys" sign.
Brett looked at God and said, "God, I don't mean to be ungrateful, but I have a question: I was an all-pro QB, I won the Super Bowl, and I even went to the hall of fame." God asked "So what do you want to know, Brett?"
"Well, why does Tony Romo get a better house than me?"
God chuckled and said "Brett, that's not Tony's house... it's mine."

For my good friends down in Southern Oklahoma, that place some call Texas... :D
A young man called Ronan from Foxrock wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend.
They hadn't been seeing each other for very long and she lived in Greystones.
Ronan consulted with his sister and decided, after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note... not too romantic and not too personal.
Off he went with his sister to Brown Thomas and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves. His sister bought a pair of sexy knickers for herself at the same time.
BT's had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Ronan unknowingly got the knickers.
Good old Ronan sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter.
Dear Sasha,
I chose these because I've noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen
the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to
remove).
These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me
the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and they were hardly
soiled at all.
I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even
though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub
against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn't needed to
wash it since she began wearing them.
I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many
other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again.
When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they
will be naturally a little damp from wearing.
Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year.
I hope you will wear them for me on our next date.
All my love,
Ronan.
P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with
a little bit of fur showing.

Jose and Carlos are panhandlers. They panhandle on different areas of town.
Carlos panhandles just as long as Jose but only collects $2 to 3 every day.
Jose brings home a suitcase full of $10 bills, drives a Mercedes, lives
In a mortgage-free house and has a lot of money to spend.
Carlos says to Jose "I work just as long and hard as you do, but how do
You bring home so much money every day?".
Jose says, "Look at your sign, what does it say"?
Carlo's sign reads, "I have no work, a wife and 6 kids to support."
Jose says, "No wonder you only get $2-3 dollars."
Carlos says... "So what does your sign say"?
Jose shows Carlos his sign.
It reads, "I only need another $10.00 to move back to Mexico."

Hey anytime, I know I don't post as much as I used to, But I'm gearing up for winter. I spent the last few weeks Cutting down trees for the years to come. I always try and stay a year or two ahead on firewood, getting it seasoned and all that.
I have to tell you though, I got so tickled with my Wife Denise this morning. She is first Generation American, right from Scisely (sp) . She is a great cook.
Now we have been married for 13 years, And I decided, Hey IT's the holidays, time to make some candy. Bless her ,she had never made Fudge before, and I'm talking the easy recipe with marshmellow cream, and Evaporated milk.
I got to show here how to make this today, and well It just made my day. Tomorrow, I'll show her my families old recipe and make some Divinity. The funny thing is, I don't have a sweet tooth at all, I just love it though that I can do something like this for her, and even her sisters, who have put there orders in.
Ok, I have rambled enough I guess.

5 minute management course
Lesson 1:
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her
shower, when the doorbell rings.
-
The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.
When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor.
Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that
towel. "
-
After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked
in front of Bob After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.
The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.
When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"
"It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.
"Great," the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes
me?"
-

ramble all you want around here, Stephen. I love the easy fudge recipe. It's still a favorite left over from my childhood. I usually make a ton of it to give away...I'm satisfied licking a spoon or two or the pot it boils in. That seems to be enough. But it always brings back memories....I'm not a fan of divinity, but my mom and my sister both love it.

hmmmm. let me think about the exercise.
you said your feet are tore all to hell...does that mean walking is out of the question?
and let's talk diet. ;)
I'm a big believer in small healthy snacks/meals. I try to eat every three hours or so...it keeps the metabolism burning all day long. I wake up first thing in the morning, and I drink a DanActive yogurt. This starts my metabolism while I go about getting ready for my day. Then three hours later, I eat a small healthy breakfast. Three hours later a small healthy lunch. Three hours later a small healthy snack. Three hours later a small healthy dinner. right before bed, another small healthy snack to make sure the metabolism doesn't stop just b/c I'm sleeping. I honestly feel better than I ever have in my life. And many days it's hard to eat all day long..........lol
Many times my snack is a handful of natural almonds.
Here's how you can tell if you're eating healthy....which is more full? your fridge or your pantry? The correct answer if you are eating healthy is your fridge will be more full!!
OK...here's a starting place. So ask me any other questions, and tell me more about what kind of exercise you can do. I would say that if you can walk, walking would be the best. It doesn't even have to be fast........just get moving. But if your feet are tore up, hmmmm.

I can walk I pretty much have to with the cattle out here. But I think your diet Idea might be the right way to go.
Imagine though a farm life, I go to town about once a month. Most of the food is Wild Boar, or Beef I raise. I hate to admit, that I eat alot of Bacon, Ham or sausage everymorning around 6 in the am, and then Eat again about 5 in the evening. So about two meals a day, however, I do eat a lot of Jerky when I'm out working the ranch.
Regarding my feet, yes they are bad, and I have to do the heel to toe thing when I move, But If It would be better over all, then I can go through the pain with my feet to get my body back in shape.
It just bothers me is all, Here I am, 37, my wife is 50, and I have three grandkids, that I can't throw up on my shoulders and Piggy back them to the local pond.

I'm almost out of here for the evening, but we can talk more about this....
I would definitely try the diet thing. You can take some "snacks" with you while you are out and about. Grab a baggie full of raw natural almonds or grab some fruit. (although it's really best to eat the fruit first thing in the morning....)
Try walking just one mile a day at first. Slow and steady. There is no reason for speed, especially when first starting out. The idea is to just get your body moving. See how you feel....if your feet bother you while walking, try taking a couple of motrin/advil 30 minutes or so before you take the walk.

But I guess we could grandfather in Stu (and a smattering of others) if we have to....
It should be a case by case basis, though:pray:

I was thinking about this some more tonight, Stephen....and I think I know who you need to talk with. Sallow. I am NOT trying to pass the buck here; I like helping out. But I know you and Sallow are friends, and I know he works out. He can give you some great "manly" advice that my womanly brain doeesn't know. Just another idea.....
I might just do that, Frank has always been there for me, and the only thing that would hold me back on asking him, is that he is Newly married. I don't know if he would have the time to help an old Marine like me. But still, it won't hurt to ask.

he seems like the type of guy who would love to help out a friend.....from the little that I know of him. :)
have you thought about the walking?
thought about the eating?
made an inventory of what's in the fridge/pantry?
you know even if you want to partake of all the Christmas/Holiday "goodies" and not really start up a "diet" until the first of the year.......you can start slowly by trying to make some healthier decisions and eating smaller portions....and taking a walk in the evening. I know it's hard w/ the shorter days, so don't bust yourself up when you don't have time....but honestly, start slowly. You'll find you really do feel better. ;)

I would suggest drinking lots of water. You need at least 64 ounces of water per day to keep your body functioning properly and it helps us lose weight.

careful on the water consumption...people can and have over saturated their water intake to the point of serious health risk.

I don't drink it cold....I know cold water is good as it burns more calories, but I am just always cold so it just makes me freeze. I drink mine at room temperature. :)

On a trail by Lake Lewisville. I've seen some big centipedes before but that is the biggest ever with the exception of the one a science teacher had as a pet back in California.

I never walk around with a gun, but I'm considering it.
Denton used to be a nice town where almost nothing bad ever happened. Murderers were few and far between, but there have been three instances of men killing their girlfriends in the last 4 months, and we also had a well publicized kidding kidnapping, rape, and murder of a female student of UNT. We also had a guy murder his own brother not that long ago.
The police blotter is full of robberies, assaults, and general mayhem. Honestly, I can't believe how bad crime is here now. I guess the death penalty is not much of a deterrent for the people of North Texas.
