I think it is called, crap, Lone Star maybe? The "National" beer of Texas? I admit I really want to try some. I'll all of a sudden want a pickup and a pair of boots.

I really want to see for myself. My brother went there for business and he said he couldn't believe the women. They are so sweet and blonde and gorgeous and know how to take care of a man. My Houston friend says exactly the same thing. I'm sure there are plenty of negatives too but a cute girl is really distracting.

Never got the chance on that trip to see if the Beaumont woman compare to the other cities. We were there to pick up My brothers girlfriend so it was a 'grab ~n~ go' stay.

Funny thing about Texas, well that county at any rate. It turned out that was a dry county. One could purchase beer, but couldn't drink it except on private property. My brother and I, being the California kids we were, didn't realize this and we were sitting on the hood of his car drinking a couple of molsens when his girlfriend and her dad showed up. He looked like he was going to have a heart attack on the spot, his head was swiveling so fast looking out for cops.

On the book entitled "Texans" it talks about how fiercely Texas tried to become part of the Union which finally happen in 1846, then just 14 years that fiercely seceded from the Union. She had a good time last night...and she got to work solo for a few songs...bands traditionally send delegations to each others grandstands to meet and greet...well, at least one drum major/field conductor has to remain behind, obviously. So she was handed the reins for a bit while the DM and the other FC went with the delegation...then the football team scored. :))

Its good/great to be back home in West Texas...spent the week in College Station, and forgot how much I prefer the desert and flatlands...but, as with all things Texas, it IS a matter of perspective.

BTW, fellow Texans, are you aware TxDot tried to sneak past all of us a provision that would allow the state to put toll booths on pre-existing/already paid for roads and interstates? A San Antonio radio station reporter found this out, and its already hit the fan...Kay Baily already has introduced a national bill outlawing any state from re-re-retaxing and then privatizing public roads...

Anyway, its good to be home

Most of the entire trip from Midland to Bryan/College Station, then College Station to San Antonio back to Midland was on some sort of construction....

If they would stop, think, and build things projected for 20 years from now as opposed to 20 minutes from now, main thoroghfares might be a little less torn up from contruction...

But I digress.

Ohhhhhhh yes we heard about it. Toll roads are big news in SA because of the incredible growth we've had.

Usually listen to WOAI.

What gets me is they squandered huge amounts of money on non-road projects and then come up with the toll road idea to cover the shortfall they created.

Wireline
September 1st, 2007, 12:08 pm
roger that on squandering....what was the report? I think it said $1.9 million for a public awareness/spekesman education campaign to teach TxDot personnel and the rest of us minions that we are too stupid to see this for what it is, and that the government really does know what is best?

Saddest part - I would hazard a guess most of the 'leadership" of TxDot are not native Texans...transplants from other places sent here to attempt to ruin or obviously superior state and lifestyle...

Bwah-haa-haa...their heinously evil plot foiled...

Haddie - I'm betting there won't be a TxDot to boot people out of soon...remember, like all government agencies, they are subject to periodic review to determine their worthiness for continuation - and their time is coming up early 2008. They will likely be replaced by an equally inept yet more transparent form of bureacracy...

:frown:

What we SHOULD do is place a 100% tax on everything used, registered, consumed, etc by non-native Texans living here for less than 30 years...that would thin the herd pretty quick.

US Marine

A U.S. Marine squad was marching north of Fallujah when they came upon an Iraqi terrorist, badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.
The Marine reported, "I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent.

We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road. I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable, lowlife scum bag who got what he deserved, and he yelled back that Ted Kennedy is a fat, good-for-nothing, left wing liberal drunk who doesn't know how to drive. So I said that Osama Bin Ladin dresses and acts like a frigid, mean-spirited lesbian! He retaliated by yelling, "'Oh yeah? Well, so does Hillary Clinton!'"

"And, there we were, in the middle of the road, shaking hands, when a truck hit us."

May-haps...historically though, we get record rainfalls the same weekend as the Powwow (29 and 30 Sep)... normally would be a bad thing, but since the CAF was "kind" enough to back the Airsho up 2 weeks and have it on the same weekend, 75,000 people in town with nothing to do because of a cancelled airsho...this could work out.

The had to change their name to Consolidated Air Force ( ) a few years back, but yeah, they still are a bug deal and put on one heck of a show every year...
