Now that Captain Lisa Nowak has pled guilty to a felony regarding the astronaut love triangle incident. She has 24 years in service and would be eligible to retire.

Should the Navy permit her to retire and collect her pension. Or should they Separate her for the Good of the Service, thus stripping her of all her retirement benefits. Or should they even go so far as to Court Martial her for Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman. Or should she be allowed to accept a retirement at a lower rank.

Personally, I can't see allowing her to retire as an O-6. Her actions brought disgrace on the Navy <not to mention on NASA as well> and for that she should at least have her retirement knocked down two grades to O-4, which would translate to many thousands of dollars lost over her retirement.

I think she should get "conduct unbecoming..." and given an O.T.H. discharge.

As an officer she can't get an OTH. She can either be allowed to retire, at or below her current rank, she can be Separated for the Good of the Service or <if Court Martialed> can be Dismissed from the Service, which is as close as an Officer can get to a Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharge.

I think her service is worth it. She has put a number of years into the service of her country and I think she has earner her retirement, dated until the date she committed her crimes. Let her spend her remaining years as a felon and a retired Navy Captain. She earned both.

Reduce to Lcdr, and place her on the permanent list at that rank.

Dismiss from service.

No benefits, no retirement..."You get NOTHING."

If Bill Clinton can lie under oath, cheat on his spouse, rape multiple women, then I'm sure she should just be allowed to retire.

It will take a Court Martila to do that.

You cannot simply reduce a Field Grade Officer, with over 20 years of service, and "chapter" her out of the military.

It doesn't work that way.

If the military wants her out without a retirement, she would have to be Court martialed, plain and simple.

Thanks Safiel. I didn't know that Zeros couldn't get the same treatment as enlisted.

So, court martial her and reduce her to O-1 and say "Adios."

But she'll probably be allowed to resign her commission.
