I literally stumbled upon this photo blog before heading to bed and I was drawn into it. It captured my attention and drew me into the reality of this daily drama.
Wonderful work by the photographers... very candid and beautiful work... check it out: http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/2009/09/10/ian-fisher-american-soldier/

People forget that heroes are everyday people who have faults. Soldiers are human, but they do heroic things.
Liberals play on this, claiming that unless people are perfect they aren't heroes. Therefore what we're doing in Iraq is worthless.
Young men like Ian sacrifice for the country. As imperfect humans they are doing great work around the world.

You will notice this thread was started by a liberal calling this soldier a hero...

You may be missing the entire point of what fjccommish is saying.
Too many, mostly liberals, absolve themselves and their conscience of any involvement, direct or indirect, with the two wars we have been fighting for eight and over six years. As if saying Soldiers are heroes places them above ordinary human beings, thereby again absolving the person saying it from doing anything more than espousing the usual, "I support the troops but not the war".
"Soldiers are human, but they do heroic things." Yes, understand that. More importantly, understand this: heroes don't come home.
Here's a reference with which to start:

Skip down to Afghanistan and Iraq to see the most recent recipients.
Ordinary men and women do heroic things every day. Thank police officers, firefighter, paramedics, and teachers while you're at it.
LT Murphy, SFC Smith, Cpl Dunham, Spc McGinnis, etc., are heroes. See the difference?
